What is the name of my DS nursery friend?

DS is 2 nearly 3. His speach is (usually) very articulate. He has never really had "baby talk"

He has been talking about his new friend at nursery. He loves playing with her. He wants her to come for tea. That's great. Except he says her name is Pancake. Which obviously cannot be the case. So what is her name??

Keith Grin poor lad.

SavoyCabbage · 25/06/2019 07:01

Ask her this week, as you’ve already had pancakes. It would be a nightmare if she came on your next pancake rotation day.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 25/06/2019 07:01

Shock Well, that's a crepe name.
Let's hope noone batters her at school.
Even if she was born on pancake day, you'd have to be a tosser to call her that.

etc etc

Should have gone with Suzette.

I love Pancake!

When we moved, both DCs started at a new primary school (reception and year 2) and both agreed that there were teachers at the new school called Mrs Goldfish and Mrs Blackbird. Totally backed each other up.

Goldsmith and Blackburn, it turned out.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 25/06/2019 07:04

Although OP, How long has he been at nursery and how many letters have you had? in other words HOW THE HELL COULD YOU HAVE MISSED THAT THERE WAS A KID CALLED PANCAKE IN THE ROOM?!!!
Grin Wink

When I read the opening post I thought "Patrick" but Pancake??? Maybe the mum was feeling a bit 'battered' after labour so she wanted a constant reminder?

Peachesandcream14 · 25/06/2019 07:17

That's bloody brilliant. I also don't find it hard to believe someone would call their child pancake, but wasn't expecting to see a Keith on the list, I was thinking a Pancake would have classmates called Nevaeh/Wolf/Balons etc.

RonnieScotts · 25/06/2019 07:18

Well, that's a crepe name

listsandbudgets · 25/06/2019 07:20

Lovely thread. Surely no stranger than calling your child Chardonnay?

Pekkanekka · 25/06/2019 07:22

Wow!

My 16 year old dd had a friend called Rocket and there was also a Butterfly in her orchestra ☺️

Morgan12 · 25/06/2019 07:25

I strangely like this name!

Ribrabrob · 25/06/2019 07:26

I too love how you never noticed there was a Pancake in the class before Grin

Witchend · 25/06/2019 07:27

I told my mum there was a boy called Instrument at preschool.
He was Vincent.

FenellaMaxwell · 25/06/2019 07:27

Extremely unfortunately, my godson used to insist his friend at nursery was called Anal. Her name was Annaliese.

CupoTeap · 25/06/2019 07:31

Love how people are more Shock at Keith.

CocoLoco87 · 25/06/2019 07:32

One of my DS is called Pancake at home Blush because as a baby he was always flat as a pancake lying on us. And even his key worker at nursery called him Pancake without knowing that we did! But it is definitely not his real name Grin anyone called Pancake must be amazing though. What a name to have to pull off!

BertrandRussell · 25/06/2019 07:33

If this was my ds, it would have turned out that she was imaginary, but I would only have found out once I had gone through a ridiculous series of social contortions trying to find out without actually asking who Pancake was and making myself look like an idiot in the process....

CMOTDibbler · 25/06/2019 07:34

I have a professional connection who is called Muffin.

LeslieKnopeforPM · 25/06/2019 07:36

I really like Keith Blush and also know a 2 year old Kenneth!

Quartz2208 · 25/06/2019 07:38

Agree how on earth have you missed that on the newsletter.

I just looked round a school that had a child called Chilli-Pepper

mondaybluesgoaway · 25/06/2019 07:46

There was a Lion in my dd's class... turned out to be Tiger-Lily... dd could never remember and called her Lion for at least the first year.

Justgivemesomepeace · 25/06/2019 07:48

My dd (16) has gone through school with a Keith. His dad and grandad were both Keith. The kids have never batted an eyelid. My ds (6) plays with a little boy called Chaos. I thought he'd got confused as hes not great with names. Hes still adamant the twin girls are Tilly Pink and Tilly Blue because they wear pink or blue bobbles so the teacher can tell them apart. He still wont have it (after 2 years) that they have different names. Anyway, after a bit if digging it turns out that Chaos is actually correct.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 25/06/2019 07:49

When I was little we lived in a road called St Dominic's Road in Colchester. I met a little boy called Dominic, and was convinced his name was Colchester. I kept calling him Colchester and his mum couldn't understand why. I just had it in my head that it was something to do with my address and Colchester seemed to make more sense to my 4 year old brain!

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 25/06/2019 07:52

I assume it’s a pet name? Are you in the US OP?

Pancake - I really can’t imagine any surname that would go with that. Any siblings? Waffle, Shreddies and CoCo Pops?

EssentialHummus · 25/06/2019 07:52

I've tossed a few names around
