What is the name of my DS nursery friend?

DS is 2 nearly 3. His speach is (usually) very articulate. He has never really had "baby talk"

He has been talking about his new friend at nursery. He loves playing with her. He wants her to come for tea. That's great. Except he says her name is Pancake. Which obviously cannot be the case. So what is her name??

Maybe she was born on shrove Tuesday?

My dd was born on Valentine's Day which is also our anniversary so her middle name
Is Valentine.

My ds was at school with a girl called "Gypsy" which wasn't her real name but was her preferred name.

Pancake though?! Grin

Compared to Keith I think pancake is better. But still. How many drugs must you of had during labour to call your child pancake?

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 25/06/2019 06:19

Who the freak calls their kid.....Keith?
Anyway, my DD2 made firm friends first day of school with Beetroot. Wasn’t Beatrice . Nope, definitely not. No. No way. Seriously, definitely Beetroot. Met her mum, it was Beatrice. 😂

SachaStark · 25/06/2019 06:28

As a teacher, I’m not even vaguely surprised by the name Pancake.

And I remain strong in my opinion that Norway has it right: there should be a national list of names, and you can only choose from those.

Twistedbiscuit · 25/06/2019 06:30

I was also shocked by Keith 😂

TheSheepofWallSt · 25/06/2019 06:32

M
I can imagine calling a squishy little baby Pancake....

looking at a pink little newborn and saying “ahhh look at him... let’s call him ... Keith”.

I understand this less, unless he was born sporting a full 80s moustache, a snooker players waistcoat, and clutching a packet of Silk Cut Superkings.

FairySunbath · 25/06/2019 06:32

DD used to talk about a boy called 'Lassie' a lot when she was at nursery. Turned out he was called Yousef.

El0die · 25/06/2019 06:33

My young DS talked a lot about his friend Awesome.
Turned out to be Orson.

Oblomov19 · 25/06/2019 06:37

Keith is having a comeback!!
I know a few 40-50 year old Keith's. I like Keith.

Hairyfairy01 · 25/06/2019 06:38

My dd insisted her friend was called grasshopper. Turned out it was Christopher! Pancake 🤣

PowerhouseOfTheCell · 25/06/2019 06:39

I want a friend named Pancake Sad

WinkyisbackontheButterBeer · 25/06/2019 06:40

Dd has a friend called ‘row da boat’.
Nope. She has a friend called ‘NOAH’. Only when she says it it sounds like ‘Woawa’ and she added the boat bit on because..... well it make sense in her 2 year old mind. Grin

toomuchfaster · 25/06/2019 06:45

DD had a TA called Mrs Carpet. Noone could decipher that, not remotely like any of their names!!

StringyPotatoes · 25/06/2019 06:47

My 3yr old sister had a friend called haystack. My mum went through the class list but couldn't figure it out. Asked the teacher who it could be and she mulled it over before saying "We have a Cowser in the class. That's the only unusual name..."

My mum put it to my sister who rolled her eyes and said "Cowshed/Haystack. It's all the same"

pictish · 25/06/2019 06:48

Pancake. Ha ha. That’s a pet’s name isn’t it? But hey, to each their own.

maddiemookins16mum · 25/06/2019 06:54

Peighton??

SunshineCake · 25/06/2019 06:55

I think you are being rude about Keith. The mum could see this. Maybe the parents named him after a loved older relative.

EatsShoootsAndLeaves · 25/06/2019 06:55

I've enjoyed reading these!
@StringyPotatoes I wonder if the friends name was Isaac?

EleanorReally · 25/06/2019 06:59

how embarrassing

Myusernameismud · 25/06/2019 06:59

The more I read it, the more I think pancake is actually quite a cute nickname. Maybe not for a real name though. Can you imagine applying for a job when you're older? What kind of job could you do with that name?

'This is our Head of Operations, Pancake Smith'

DD had a friend called Fox Boy once, only she came home a few days later and said actually his name is Rapunzel. I was starting to think perhaps he just liked to be different people on different days, until I was chatting to the teacher and she mentioned DD had been playing with Alfonso. DD wouldn't believe me, she called him Rapunzel for at least another 6 months Grin

Minimincepies · 25/06/2019 07:00

My son had a lovely time playing with a little boy he insisted was called 'Morrisons'. Turned out to be Harrison.
Pancake is so cute for a toddler, less so for a businesswoman in her 40s.

KnitterOfSocks · 25/06/2019 07:00

We had a friend called Tuna. Nope, that would be Jonah, actually.
