OK lots of huffy posts there. My question would be, why not send out a tape measure with the tickets?

Children's books. Surely people can decide on a book by book and also child by child basis? My grandson (9) loves Horrible Histories but a story tape of Sean Bean reading Arthurian legends gave him nightmares. (Kudos to Sean, I guess!)

Fat people. Live and let live. If nobody is obscuring your view or crushing you, fair enough. But I agree with thigh re height restriction. Give the short arses some respect!

TheLoneWolfDies · 14/06/2019 10:19

Maybe the solution is to lock all fat people i their houses and feed them spinach and brocolli through the letterbox twice a day until they learn their lesson?

nakedscientist · 14/06/2019 10:55

I do love M3Ion, sorry Thigh you too. I just cant help swooning over science facts. The hordes won't listen though, they are well into their lynching.

DanglyTassles · 14/06/2019 11:11

Good God! Someone actually said this:

"Since there is a positive correlation between obesity and low socioeconomic status purchasing two ticket is not likely to be a viable solution to this problem"

Even if statistically that's true I feel like Shock reading it on there! Imagine even thinking to say that about another race or culture whether there's truth in the statistics or not it's bound to make obese people feel even more shit!

ProjectGainsborough · 14/06/2019 11:16

You’re fat and you’re poor. You have no place in the theatre

Reg please can you draw me a picture of a house. A nice big one with room for all the thisters and a sturdy cage for the DL. Positive visualisation.

TheLoneWolfDies · 14/06/2019 11:18

I thinj people in lower class areas do tend to be more overweight. However thats only in my own experience and I have only ever lived in Dublin so I can't say it its actually true.

I think the problem is simply that people are judgemental and cruel. I honestly wouldn't like to have my space invaded, but on the other hand my BIL and MIL are both in the obese range and it would really upset me to hear of anyone treating them poorly because of it.

The solution is live and let live. Life is shit sometimes, not everything has to be such a huge problem.

thislido · 14/06/2019 11:18

I thought that person was kind of agreeing with us - that it was stupid to expect people to buy multiple tickets.

ProjectGainsborough · 14/06/2019 11:19

I’ve told them what the solution is. Make the seats bigger. I don’t know why they persist in making all this fuss.

TheLoneWolfDies · 14/06/2019 11:20

lido yes thats how I picked that up too

thislido · 14/06/2019 11:20

Exactly. It’s like anything that involves other members of the public, sometimes it won’t be quite what you want but you just get on with it, being as kind as possible.

DanglyTassles · 14/06/2019 11:22

this yeah they are but i didn't think that fact needed stating in that thread. it was insensitive to a degree!

Imagine being obese and reading that!

'Oh poor fat people can't afford much so let them be'

Condescending much?

thislido · 14/06/2019 11:23

Apparently theatres shouldn’t pay for people’s “poor self control” Hmm

There’s so much ignorance about weight gain - I include myself in that - because we all swallowed the government’s bullshit guidelines about low fat, which were based on bullshit. I’ve been reading some of Gary Taube’s books recently and they are eye opening.

TheLoneWolfDies · 14/06/2019 11:23

They dont want to listen because shitting on people they deem lesser than them boosts their ego too much.

DanglyTassles · 14/06/2019 11:24

this absolutely agree!

thislido · 14/06/2019 11:25

I suppose so, I just didn’t read it that way, because the theatre is so fucking expensive I think anyone other than the very well off would baulk at buying extra tickets!

TheLoneWolfDies · 14/06/2019 11:28

But the thing is, theres a lot less judgement in my experience of alcholics and drug addicts, atleast where I live. But being addicted to food is fucking common. And its obvious how, have you read the ingredients in half the shit we eat?

Addiction is hard regardless of what you are addicted to. Its bullshit to think you know what someones going through from who they look on the outside. The only reasons for being far arent 'eat too much' or 'medical condition'.

DanglyTassles · 14/06/2019 11:30

Maybe so, it's the way it was written. I'm not obese (although i could be slimmer of course, I live in Thighland) but if I'd read that and was obese I'd have felt more shamed than by the thread itself.

I do get that the theatre is a luxury event though and i get the point. i just would hate to read it there if it were me.

Oh but we're all different, and also we need to be silly again quite quickly before MNHQ removes us for the first time ever for being bores. Grin

DanglyTassles · 14/06/2019 11:32

Previous post was to this of course.

All true points Lone

ProjectGainsborough · 14/06/2019 11:33

Caitlin Moran did a great bit on how we celebrate other addictions as being glamorous, but that overeating is a quiet sort of self harm for people who are keeping their other responsibilities going, rather than rolling around in the street drunk or whatever.

CarolinePooter · 14/06/2019 11:35

wolf that's such a good point. There are socially "acceptable" forms of addiction apparently.

But some enormously rich fat people need to join that thread!

CarolinePooter · 14/06/2019 11:36

project we need a lovely house soon!

TheLoneWolfDies · 14/06/2019 11:46

Exactly pooter, it shouldn't matter what someones addicted to all that matters is they need support. I cant even comment on the other thread I'll only get annoyed 😂

TopiaryTractorTart · 14/06/2019 11:49

Are you all chatting?

What happened to planning?

DanglyTassles · 14/06/2019 11:59

Ok yes TTT, we do need a plan!

So please can Reg please draw in a 30 gallon min fish tank in my corner of the mansion for Triangle to live in?

CarolinePooter · 14/06/2019 12:02

God wolf the times I've written posts and deleted them it's not good for my blood pressure! Much nicer in thighland

Reg we will start planning once we have a new home.

BTW why haven't we ever been banned? Definitely suspicious.
