Trunk found in new house!

So we have found a trunk in the loft of our new house..

Its addressed to someone to a boys school that was open in the 1940-1960s.

I'm so intrigued, its bigger than the loft hatch so think we will need to cut it out of the hatch before plastering.

Ideas what to do with it? Use for decorative purposes? I've saw some turned into coffee tables! Or I may use it for toy storage, I love it!

Get a hammer now and crack it open.
I'm going to bed in 15 minutes.

IDrinkAndISewThings · 02/06/2019 23:13

Oh no. I'm going to bed before I get sucked in to another one of these threads! Shall check back for updates in the morning 😁

TinselAndKnickers · 02/06/2019 23:15

Crack it open terrys chocolate orange style! Well maybe not as you want to use it for storage.

GiveMeAllTheGin8 · 02/06/2019 23:16

Can you open it now please ?
Really need to get some sleep

Soola · 02/06/2019 23:16

I would want to find B Perrott and see if he’s still alive and would like the trunk to pass on in his own family. That would give me more pleasure than using it.

namechangedasscared · 02/06/2019 23:16

Ok I'm with everyone else - open it! Please!

I really hope there's something inside, a little glimpse into the past would be amazing.

If it were me I'd find a giant spider or something similar waiting to eat me!

GreenTulips · 02/06/2019 23:17

A body maybe?

Villanellesproudmum · 02/06/2019 23:17

Exciting!

IggyAce · 02/06/2019 23:17

Please open it and report back. Unfortunately these things normally end in disappointment, I bet it’s empty.

Holdingtherope · 02/06/2019 23:20

Omg! I can't cope! Open it OPEN IT!

HennyPennyHorror · 02/06/2019 23:25

Oh I bloody hate these...and love them. Threads like this I mean.

Who DOESN'T OPEN THE TRUNK!?????

AND then posts about it here!!???

I'd just force the bloody thing and THEN post. This could go on for days with OP saying things like "DH has lost his grinding tool...." and "Have to wait for DH to get back from abroad"

So frustrating.

Ferfeckssake · 02/06/2019 23:25

Hope it doesn't contain journals saying how awful school is and that he misses Mummy - he is only 8.Sad

BastardGoDarkly · 02/06/2019 23:28

BlueEyedBengal · 02/06/2019 23:29

Treasure! Open it please, I need to know what's inside gold, money gems or just old papers. Is the house very old?Hmm

LarryGreysonsDoor · 02/06/2019 23:30

You haven’t found a Victorian safe as well have you?

SlipperOrchid · 02/06/2019 23:30

Shamelessly placemarking.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 02/06/2019 23:31

These things never end well. Theres usually an evil spirit trapped inside that kills people and you are about to break the seal and set it loose.

How do we know for sure that the sticker on the side is an address label and not a contents label....?
