It's time... Yes we fucking hate summer.

Although it hasn't got as hot as it was last year (yet) I feel like I've already had enough. I'm got hayfever, I can't go outside without insects getting in my face and I'm already feeling hot and sticky. I also want to go to bed and someone round here is having an outdoors party. Yes I'm a Scrooge, no I don't care. Roll on autumn and crisp sunny days and frost and apples and brightly coloured leaves (ahh, I feel cooler already.)

Hopefully this will NOT be taken the wrong way, but the temperature here has really dropped overnight. It's currently 18c and very cloudy.

Yesterday and Thursday were unbearable here (both in excess of 30c) so I suspect the cooler weather must be coming from the west where I am heading towards all of you.

If it decides to get hot again then I'll resume my usual ranting Wink

I never expected to wake up to it so much cooler...

RuggyPeg · 29/06/2019 10:14

It's meant to be 28 here today but it's quite cloudy at the mo thank god. I've got to look glamorous later today and I'm just going to look like a sweaty, greasy mess 😞

ExpletiveDelighted · 29/06/2019 10:20

Well, it's been hot here the last two days but a pleasant breeze to take the edge off, so not too bad. However its 25°C already today and no breeze to speak of, forecast 30° for the day. I've done an early stint at the allotment and feel disgustingly hot and sweaty. However the forecast for tomorrow is 23° which is much more reasonable.

LoafofSellotape · 29/06/2019 11:18

Yes, tomorrow is meant to be 22 here which is more bearable.

I'm meant to be seeing a friend later who will want to sit in the garden, fortunately she has a big parasol. I'm not looking forward to it as I'll be so hot.

SapatSea · 29/06/2019 11:44

Broiling here in the SE, no breeze. Staying in with the curtains pulled and electric fan on standby. My kitchen is literally like an oven (stupid glass roof on one side) but the living room for now is bearable . I just feel so sorry for those coping with no air con in the South of France and 49 degrees.

lololove · 29/06/2019 12:15

Visited my brother, SIL and nephew on Thursday... They insisted on going out to eat and apparently because it was "only 21" they couldn't understand why I didn't want to and offered to stay home with baby nephew to keep us both cool.

Once outside it was clearly more and it was deeply deeply unpleasant. The last thing I wanted to do was eat in the middle of that but people really don't understand that not everyone likes hot weather (I don't like anything on double figures but that's a whole other story 🤣🤣🤣)

Hopefully I've made my point given the soaked mess I became after 2 minutes outside.

My SIL put her hand on my back at one point and was amazed by the fact that my clothes were wet to the touch. What does she expect when my nervous system wants to destroy me?!

Becca19962014 · 29/06/2019 12:57

Went out and it was horrible. Really stuffy and hot despite breeze.

Went to get meds to be hit by a wall of heat as they'd put the fucking heating on as its now "freezing".

19c is not freezing, and it's hotter now anyway.

Am sat here a smelly, sweaty mess. I felt really upset about hearing how it's now "freezing cold, like winter and we want our summer back"

It. Is. Not. Freezing. Cold.

Even the breeze (what little we have) feels bloody warm ffs.
It's bloody horrible.

as am I

LoafofSellotape · 29/06/2019 13:00

Urghhhhh, it's hot here now even with a breeze. I forgot dh put in a ceiling fan in our room last year, I'm currently lying underneath it, it's lovely!

NeverGotMyPuppy · 29/06/2019 13:04

This is grim. Baby DS's room is like a sauna and he was awake at 4.30 ready to start the day
Is it autumn yet?

driggle · 29/06/2019 13:04

It's 32 here in the SE. Today was NOT the day to sit in a hairdressers for 4 hours. It's cooler than outside but still bloody roasting. I'm sweating and sticking to the seat.

Emmabryant123 · 29/06/2019 13:05

We dont put the heating on until it reaches about 10c outside ...
I don't feel the cold at all
19c and heating on !? No wonder climate change is happening
19c is warm !

Asta19 · 29/06/2019 13:07

I’m in North London and it’s already 30 here and absolutely boiling! I just hope the BBC is right and it will cool down again drastically tomorrow. I’m literally doing nothing and still sweating.

Emmabryant123 · 29/06/2019 13:07

I also don't wear a coat until it's about 5c
This winter was mostly just a jumper for me
It was 13c on Xmas day !
Grr I am still angry we didn't get a proper winter to make up for last year's hellish summer
Looking to be 19c here Tuesday which is more bearable but still to warm for me personally

Minkies11 · 29/06/2019 13:15

Going to be 29 degrees here in SW later - already too hot and pissed off. At least the garden likes it Grin
Have two pissed off cats who don't and have been asleep upstairs since 7am.

Sagradafamiliar · 29/06/2019 13:28

Oh I fucking hate it. Expectation vs reality really hits home in this weather. Sure I'll put a nice summery outfit on but unidentifiable insects and dust will stick to it then it will stick to me thanks to sun cream, and beads of sweat pool around my hairline, and if I'm wearing shades, around the top of my nose.
The children are in the bath already because they are sticky from suncream, lolly juice, muck, grass and sweat from running around at the park and then the garden. Bloody awful.

Minai · 29/06/2019 18:29

There’s 666 posts on this thread which sounds about right. It feels like I am in hell in this heat.

It’s 32 here apparently but it feels like more to me. We went to a park as we were meeting friends for a picnic. If I’d known it would be this hot I wouldn’t have agreed to it. 2 year old won’t wear a hat and was running around and went bright red and sweaty from the heat. Back indoors now thankfully. Hoping it cools down tonight

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 29/06/2019 18:49

Like an idiot I went out earlier. Went to peruse a fabric shop.

Am now lying on the sofa having taken two paracetamol for the terrific headache and feel queasy and exhausted like a dried out ragSad Had to call in ill for work. Won't be suprised if they sack me.Sad

LoafofSellotape · 29/06/2019 20:31

It got to 31 here but was a dry heat so I was much better in it that when it was muggy . I coped ok, did the bare minimum and sat in the shade. Lovely breeze here again which makes me less panicky for some reason. Hope everyone is ok. Catherine that sounds awful ,I get headaches when it's muggy and it's so debilitating x

LoafofSellotape · 29/06/2019 20:36

Think I'll.sleep on the sofa tonight as cooler downstairs.

OldAndWornOut · 29/06/2019 20:40

I've stayed indoors today, even though I've been child free and its my only day off for the next 9 days.

Its absolutely muggy outside.
Too much for me.

LoafofSellotape · 29/06/2019 20:49

Oh no, mugginess is dire,it stops my brain functioning,I can't think straight!

MordredsOrrery · 29/06/2019 21:07

I cannot stand this weather. Neither DC is sleeping properly despite the fans and blackout blinds. Desperate for autumn to arrive!

LoafofSellotape · 29/06/2019 21:17

We will need a special autumn appreciation thread Smile

SlowLiving · 29/06/2019 21:59

Bastards playing music outside somewhere. I need the windows open to let the cooler evening air in. Bastards. I want to live in a stone cottage in the middle of nowhere. Bastards. Bastards.

giraffesarefab · 29/06/2019 22:25

Thank God that's over! It's been 30.6 here today but should be a much more bearable 21 tomorrow. Please please let that be the last hot day we have, it's been unbearable!
We did have a quick rain shower about 8pm which didn't cool it down at all but the wind has picked up all of a sudden and that is lovely. Fingers crossed for a cool night.
