It's time... Yes we fucking hate summer.

Although it hasn't got as hot as it was last year (yet) I feel like I've already had enough. I'm got hayfever, I can't go outside without insects getting in my face and I'm already feeling hot and sticky. I also want to go to bed and someone round here is having an outdoors party. Yes I'm a Scrooge, no I don't care. Roll on autumn and crisp sunny days and frost and apples and brightly coloured leaves (ahh, I feel cooler already.)

@CaptainHammer It’s going to be unbearable, isn’t it. Will feel at least 30C regardless of what the mercury actually shows.

Could we blame Boris (ever noticed that his initials are BJ?) for this somehow....he’s a climate change denier, right?

HelenaDove · 24/06/2019 17:58

Bought DH a bar of the new Dairy Milk Caffe Latte coffee chocolate last week.

He stores his choc in the kitchen cupboard. Last night i moved it to get to something else and it was liquid so it was binned.

This is how hot it gets in there. The kitchen is too small The heat has nowhere to go So when you get the building soaking up the summer heat and the cooker and microwave being used + obvs the fridge freezer has to always be on it all creates too much heat in too small a room.

This is why i have to store things like pasta sauce in the hall cupboard.

Fucking ridiculous.

SapatSea · 24/06/2019 18:26

I have a balance disorder that seems to get worse in hot weather so I'm quite relieved that it is so much better than last summer where I spent a lot of time clinging to the bed frame hoping the world would stop spinning. I really could not have coped with that constant heat for months again.

The latter part of the week does look really hot. I have the dentist on Thursday for a big filling replacement and it'll be so hot and horrible, dreading it (may cancel it).

I agree that The BBC has lower temperatures forecast than other sites . Fingers crossed.

lololove · 24/06/2019 19:10

It's rained several times today - but it's not refreshing in the slightest cos it's weirdly warm rain. I walked barefoot down the garden with the dogs (one is a pampered madam who won't wee if you don't go out with her) and the ground was hot. Not a bit of air either. Horrible horrible horrible!

nespressowoo · 24/06/2019 19:13

I hate the fucking summer. I am dreading the end of the week!

OldAndWornOut · 24/06/2019 19:13

My flat has huge windows which get full sun when its hot.
I only have quite flimsy curtains, so its like an oven in here.

frozendaisy · 24/06/2019 19:16

I am ginge, mr is half spanish with ginge skin, our nippers don't stand a chance! High UV forget it we turn to ash lookng at the sun outside, but do like the warm evenings in the garden and running through the sprinkler is good fun so it's swings and roundabouts really.

SapatSea · 25/06/2019 16:57

Awful headache today, dizzy and nauseous, my usual reaction to high humidity and that oppressive feeling. Grrr... roll on October!

YorkieTheRabbit · 25/06/2019 17:16

Where do you all live? Shock
We’ve had a HIGH of 13, rain, drizzle, grey cloud. It’s rained some part of every day apart from one, for the last three weeks. It’s like October, we’ve had strong winds, belting down rain, the garden is way behind where it should be at this time of year.
I’m sorry the heat makes you feel bad, you should all look to moving here, on the Pennines, West Yorkshire Grin

DappledThings · 25/06/2019 17:37

I'm on Kent coast Yorkie. It's been hazy so a little cloud relief but mostly sticky and about 25. Apart from washing drying quickly outside I'd take your 13 and rain any day

LoafofSellotape · 25/06/2019 18:45

Yesterday was unbearable so humid in the evening! I hardly slept. Muggy this morning but lots of rain and now there's a lovely chill outside. The only day which looks horrendous is Saturday here and it's 30Sad but other than that 21/22.

SapatSea · 25/06/2019 18:48

South East, 26 degrees here, hazy, some bursts of very hot sun, very humid and sticky, no breeze. Unpleasant. Wish I was in Yorkshire.

iPodge · 25/06/2019 18:52

Surrey here. Overcast, sweaty and thick. Not too hot inside as long as I don't move too much. Thank God for tiny Victorian hovel with thick walls! Supposed to be continuing to paint DD1's room this evening but can't face it.

YorkieTheRabbit · 25/06/2019 18:59

Well you’re all welcome, we have spare bedrooms and wine Grin

LoafofSellotape · 25/06/2019 21:50

Sounds like we had yesterday, it's hell. Chilly here now and damp,I've had to close windows. Hopefully I'll catch up up on some sleep tonight.

Wine cool drinks for those who are hot and hope it cools down soon.

ExpletiveDelighted · 25/06/2019 22:05

SE here, very humid and warm but at least its been cloudy all day so no sun beating down.

Minai · 26/06/2019 08:22

Last summer I was 6 months pregnant and also had a baby who hated the heat as much as I do. I thought next year will be better as I won’t be pregnant any more. Well heat hating baby is now a heat hating toddler and I have another heat hating baby so we are all grumpy together. Temperature isn’t too bad here (se London) but very, very humid so it still feels quite oppressive. Can not wait for September but it seems very far away.

Becca19962014 · 26/06/2019 10:01

Despite it feeling ok yesterday flat didn't get below 20c. When I got up this morning was already over 20c Sad

Supposedly it's 18c outside...

Dreading Friday!

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 26/06/2019 10:40

Think I might take you up that @YorkieTheRabbitGrin

Had to go meetup with a friend in Holborn last week. Stupidly left it late so had to take the train, then change for the Bakerloo tube then change at Piccadily for the Central Line or whatever and by the time I got put of Holborn station I was literally drenched in hot sticky sweat. My top was soaked.

I was forced to pop into New Look and buy a whole new bloody outfit, then change in the changing rooms. Everything in store was more or less catering for teeny boppers and the cheapest thing that fit that I could afford was £16 on the sale rack. Still didn't cover my boobs adequately, so I was almost spilling out, much to the delight of the male salesperson in the shop I brought a deodorant and a bottle of water from. And every other man that I came in contact with. Never received so much courtesy in my lifeHmm

Roll on September!

YorkieTheRabbit · 26/06/2019 11:11

It’s currently 12 degrees outside, grey damp with a bit of a breeze. I want some sunshine 🌞
I’d happily send this lot to all of you suffering with the heat Sad

LoafofSellotape · 26/06/2019 12:30

17 degrees and chilly- perfect. Not looking forward to Saturday's 30 degrees!

Becca19962014 · 26/06/2019 13:04

yorkie I'll have it, please!!

We have breeze here which means it's around 21c but it's so stuffy in shops. I went to get my meds and it was really horrible -they were steaming the bloody floor and had the heating on!!

I've found out the flat above mine is being steamed as well - hence why it's so bloody hot in here.

ExpletiveDelighted · 26/06/2019 14:59

Well, after a grey overcast start it is now sunny with a few clouds, 21C and breezy, the humidity has gone. That's about my perfect summer day, hope the forecast for a heatwave proves to be wrong.

Becca - hope the steaming doesn't take too long.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 26/06/2019 15:01

Today is nice.

Yesterday was like walking through soup.

Becca19962014 · 26/06/2019 15:09

They've finished for today but the house badly retains heat.
