It's time... Yes we fucking hate summer.

Although it hasn't got as hot as it was last year (yet) I feel like I've already had enough. I'm got hayfever, I can't go outside without insects getting in my face and I'm already feeling hot and sticky. I also want to go to bed and someone round here is having an outdoors party. Yes I'm a Scrooge, no I don't care. Roll on autumn and crisp sunny days and frost and apples and brightly coloured leaves (ahh, I feel cooler already.)

Hello everyone - I don’t usually post but do browse this thread. I’m another that gets really anxious about heat ( I fact I spent last night panic browsing wondering whether I can afford a portable air con!).

I’m really praying that bbc weather is more accurate than the met office - temps don’t look quite as horrendous on the BBC and have dropped a bit for here

Becca19962014 · 22/06/2019 17:42

bigmouse I'm sorry to hear you find the weather anxiety inducing as well. I'm having a nasty ibs attack at the moment (combined with a bad period) and I think it's because I'm terrified about the weather.

It's hit 19c here "officially" today, or 21c on the unofficial equipment in the local town. Reality for where I am has been higher, more like 25/26c. None of the readings for my area are correct. Next week they're predicting 25c which I know compared to others is low but for me that's really bad.

I wish I could access some support for this in RL but no one understands. It was easier today and yesterday than I expected, I was able to get out first thing when a bit cooler and get into shade and I am grateful for that. I wanted to go for a short walk this evening but there's no way I'm going to be doing that now. 22c at the moment and no breeze whatsoever.

lolaflores · 22/06/2019 17:45

Saw my first topless man today. My heart sank. It is the worst aspect of a sunny hot day.
This summer is infinitely more comfortable than this time past year. The heat was relentless.
I am quite happy so far.
Last year I swore no more hot beach hols. Gatwick was a living nightmare and it was so hot here, being away was no different even though it was a beautiful location, we returned to weather just as hot.

LoafofSellotape · 22/06/2019 19:21

I feel so sorry for those with no breeze, there's been a fairly stiff breeze here all day which has made it completely tolerable. Tomorrow I think will be a different story Sad I usually find BBC the most accurate of all weather sites.

Denis complaining of a bad stomach so we might not be going to the event planned tommow (squeeeeeal!!!!Grin!!!🤞👍)

LoafofSellotape · 22/06/2019 19:22

Denis? Dh is

RosaWaiting · 22/06/2019 20:20

lola did you post last year? I recall a poster going on a hot holiday and saying, never again. I also hate the topless men.

Sorry for all with the anxiety, I was meant to do a bunch of stuff today in anticipation of not being able to do it next week!! But I’m afraid I didn’t get much done and checked the constantly changing forecast a lot.

It is definitely better than last year, which had been awful for about a month at this point.

RosaWaiting · 23/06/2019 12:40

anyone else got a headache from the lack of air?

Emmabryant123 · 23/06/2019 13:51

So damn humid 😭

Becca19962014 · 23/06/2019 15:50

It's horrid here - zero sun, thick cloud, no breeze. Feeling really unwell today as well.

So much for the storm we were meant to have.

Bastards.

[anger]

Fairies have updated to no storm and no rain and looking 30 end of week.

Terrified doesn't even begin to cover it.

I wanna go fairy hunting later, I got my pitchfork ready!!

Angry Angry

Cos I messed up the emoji!

LoafofSellotape · 23/06/2019 19:10

Evening all😊

Just about survived today, 23 and there was a breeze for most of the day. I did get hot but wasn't at the point of fainting! Now it's raining which is nice.

So it was dry ,23 degrees and intermittent sun and my friend said "it's such a shame we have bad weather today" Confused

HelenaDove · 24/06/2019 01:44

Flat quite hot.

My usual summer choice .......................have the windows shut and sweat my guts out.

OR have the windows open and have the flat reeking of other peoples dope/skunk.

Fabulous ......................NOT!

LoafofSellotape · 24/06/2019 07:52

Oh yuck, what a horrible choice Sad

Hot here already, feels like the air is treacle.

Becca19962014 · 24/06/2019 09:33

20c here already. No sun, but no air either. Breeze even by sea is 0 Sad

So much for rain cooling things off. We had rain but it stayed hot last night. Minimum temp 19c Sad

Got appointment today and I'm dreading it.

LoafofSellotape · 24/06/2019 10:05

I have 3 sets of patio doors downstairs and they're all open already, not a sign of any breeze

RosaWaiting · 24/06/2019 10:54

I'm glad to say the 34 originally placed in my area for Thursday has, after being moved to Friday and Saturday, now completely vanished.

I feel less under siege. That was really making me flap, especially the thought of the Tube.

Pollen & pollution combo is hitting the asthma pretty hard though.

RosaWaiting · 24/06/2019 10:57

a slightly separate moan but also, the immediate increase in noise when there's an increase in temps! I have a tiny balcony but wish I hadn't bothered. As soon as summer comes, people just use it to put their stereo out, have loud chats on their mobile - the guy downstairs talks so loudly I can hear him clearly with my TV on.

Should have bought a flat with no outside space. And air con!!

LoafofSellotape · 24/06/2019 10:57

Sat is 29 where I am and the rest is 22/23. I can cope with that, just!

Trying2bemum · 24/06/2019 11:03

I've found my people. I hate hot weather (apart from on holiday by a swimming pool) at the best of times but currently 36 weeks pregnant and dreading the forecast temp rise this week!

CaptainHammer · 24/06/2019 11:46

@RosaWaiting as much as I hate the heat I think the increase in noise is the thing I hate most about summer. I can’t wait to win the lottery and move to a luxury air con filled house in the middle of nowhere!

LoafofSellotape · 24/06/2019 11:49

I've just come in from the garden, planted some geraniums and tomato plants and gave the whole garden a water,oh goodness it's SO muggy! I've just come in to get a glass of icy water. No sun at all, which I quite like,I find when it's blazing sun everything is so bright,I find it wearing.

Feels like it might get rain but I bet it'll be just a few drops 🙄

nomushrooms · 24/06/2019 12:16

I used to love sunny summers, adore a good beach holiday.....until I had a baby. Now I would like to see anything over 20C BANNED until we have completed our family and the youngest has hit at least 3.

If Boris could manage that, I might even be tempted to despise him a little less....

nomushrooms · 24/06/2019 12:17

Ahhhhhh I’ve just realised we’re going to London on Saturday. Luckily without baby, but still. The underground in the heat 😩

LoafofSellotape · 24/06/2019 12:48

London? Oh no!!!

CaptainHammer · 24/06/2019 14:18

@nomushrooms I’m going in to London on Saturday too. It’s for my mums birthday so I can’t even get out of it! You know the weather is bad for us when we’re considering being able to despise Boris less 😐
