It's time... Yes we fucking hate summer.

Although it hasn't got as hot as it was last year (yet) I feel like I've already had enough. I'm got hayfever, I can't go outside without insects getting in my face and I'm already feeling hot and sticky. I also want to go to bed and someone round here is having an outdoors party. Yes I'm a Scrooge, no I don't care. Roll on autumn and crisp sunny days and frost and apples and brightly coloured leaves (ahh, I feel cooler already.)

mydog

Those weeks you think I should be happy about will kill me.

YOU should be grateful you aren't facing that or the severe depression or anxiety or agoraphobia or PTSD which are unrelenting every single day without the luxury of antidepressants or other meds because of the same condition that will kill me means I cannot have them.

Wet and grey are meaningless.
It was wet and grey here yesterday but it was still warm.

Next time it's "warm" or "sunny" where you live for just those couple of weeks you mention why don't you try some compassion for those who are trapped in because of it? Wondering if this is the day they will die?

And, before you ask, in hotter countries people are more likely to die from the condition. Fact is it is it's been getting a lot hotter here in the uk and parts of it have had a lot of sunny days already, Christmas here was almost 15c last year.

Becca19962014 · 15/06/2019 10:12

It's sunny and hot here today.

I must go get food and am terrified. I must wear long skirts because otherwise people comment on my purple bloated legs, long sleeves to cover up the scaring on my arms which people also comment about. I'll have to endure people staring and making fun of my swollen purple face.

If it was cooler wouldn't have to put up with any of that.

If I could afford to move to northern Scotland I would but I can't.

DasMumBoot · 15/06/2019 10:14

you should also be grateful that you are not one of the many who are depressed by and hate the cold

Well compared with many countries we don’t know the meaning of cold weather here . Scandinavia, Sweden, Norway, Russia - now THEY are cold. Here not so much. There don’t you feel loads better about cold weather now mydog

Becca19962014 · 15/06/2019 10:15

Sorry. I really shouldn't have read here or responded. Really struggling at the moment, and I didn't need to find this here Sad

lorit · 15/06/2019 10:15

Beccy I'm sorry you had to read yet another attacking post. People are shits sometimes.

Most of us here on this thread get it or have some idea of how horrible it is. I hope your trip out goes easier then expected today.

Have you ever tried ice sleeves by the way? They're not always the most fashionable things but I wear them sometimes; they're lovely when you dampen them down, and usually protect you from UV damage too.

Becca19962014 · 15/06/2019 10:16

das that's true but I don't live there and it is getting hotter here, definitely where I live and I'm really scared about how bad my dysautonomia and EDS combination are getting because of it.

lorit · 15/06/2019 10:16

Ugh Becca, not Beccy, sorry.

DasMumBoot · 15/06/2019 10:22

Becca sorry you’re having a rough time of it. Some people just aren’t blessed with much imagination and can’t believe that others might struggle for various reasons with the things they enjoy.

And for what it’s worth mydog, I, and maybe others on here, also struggle in cold weather too as the same condition that makes heat a nightmare, makes me feel sick, dizzy and shaky in the cold.

DasMumBoot · 15/06/2019 10:25

Sorry becca my comment about it not being that cold here was to mydog. Hopefully knowing that Scandinavia, Russia and North America have it so much worse will make her feel instantly not depressed and miserable when it gets colder here. In exactly the same way we immediately start to feel great in the heat because we can count our blessings we don’t live in the Middle East or somewhere else baking hot 🙄

Becca19962014 · 15/06/2019 10:26

Thank you both.

Yes I struggle in cold with it too, hence saying about the severe depression every day mostly similar reason - that my body can't cope with cold to hot so I just black out.

Not doing good today. About to lose only bit of support I have in RL Sad

Really need to go out now before it gets too hot.

DasMumBoot · 15/06/2019 10:26

becca we have the same things - EDS and dysautonomia 😢

ExpletiveDelighted · 15/06/2019 10:27

I suggested hiding the thread because it is obviously winding you up Mydog. I disagree with you about the weather being shit most of the time, I just hate very hot weather and post here to find like-minded people (we are in a minority) and support those who suffer badly in it. I sympathise with anyone who has their wedding rained on, or suffers depression in winter, but this thread is about appreciating cool summer weather / fear of another heatwave.

Becca19962014 · 15/06/2019 10:30

das it's ok don't worry, misunderstanding!

Becca19962014 · 15/06/2019 10:31

das I'm sorry.

DappledThings · 15/06/2019 10:36

Let's be honest the weather here is pretty shit most of the time. Despite what some of you say, we do have wet and grey most of the year. Even when not actually properly cold it's still far from warm let alone hot

Thing is mydog that for a lot of us went and grey does not equal miserable or unwelcome. What is "good" weather to you is horrible, depressing and frustrating for us because, shock horror, people feel differently about things.

There's another thread running asking when the weather will warm up. You can go and moan over there about it not being hot enough for you yet. We can stay over here with our own concerns. Nobody is "right" about the weather. We just feel differently.

DappledThings · 15/06/2019 10:38

Today here is pretty much perfect for me. It's sunny in parts but lots of cloud cover coming all through the day. Not set to rise over 17. Washing nearly dry already with the nice breeze. If it could stay like this all summer with rain every 3-4 days ot would be a winner for me.

janaus50s · 15/06/2019 10:55

Can I ask ... how hot is HOT??? Yes, the Aussie summer police have arrived. We are having a very cold early start to winter. Today was a very cold 16 c. Try a hot summer day of 40 plus c.

DappledThings · 15/06/2019 11:02

janaus50s For me anything over 20 is very warm verging on too warm. 25+ is horribly hot.

But I've also been on holiday in regular 35 degrees and loved it because I had air con and a pool with shade.

Emmabryant123 · 15/06/2019 11:29

I find over 20 hot and anything above 22/23 unbearable tbh
Even in correct clothing
I was in tears last summer
This summer is more bearable but I'd rather cooler

Becca19962014 · 15/06/2019 12:57

It actually got cooler so a win for me!

ExpletiveDelighted · 15/06/2019 13:08

Steady drizzle here now but not cold, however it was dry and windy this morning so I got my washing line dried.

TrendyNorthLondonTeen · 15/06/2019 13:13

Lol it's amazing how offended some people get if you have the cheek to not like hot weather 🤣 away for a sunbed and calm down ffs

missmouse101 · 15/06/2019 14:12

Yep, anything over 20 degrees is too much for me as I start to feel incredibly uncomfortable. Over 25 is unbearable. It is completely irrelevant if heat lovers think it's not even hot at those temperatures. IT IS TO ME.

GummyGoddess · 15/06/2019 14:15

Nobody goes on the summer lover threads saying 'Be grateful you live in the UK and not Oymyakon' because it's silly. By that logic nobody can ever be upset about anything.

We are allowed to dislike the weather, us disliking it has no bearing on the weather as we don't control it by wishing away the sun. We can wish for cold as much as we like, it isn't our fault that the country is rainy and cold.

I'm half convinced that the summer lovers are cross because they think it's our fault it's so cold as it's so unreasonable to be cross because we are happy.
