It's time... Yes we fucking hate summer.

Although it hasn't got as hot as it was last year (yet) I feel like I've already had enough. I'm got hayfever, I can't go outside without insects getting in my face and I'm already feeling hot and sticky. I also want to go to bed and someone round here is having an outdoors party. Yes I'm a Scrooge, no I don't care. Roll on autumn and crisp sunny days and frost and apples and brightly coloured leaves (ahh, I feel cooler already.)

25* next week!!

lololove · 14/06/2019 09:16

Meh 🙁

My new little nephew does most definitely not take after me in the heat situation 😂 he screeeeeams when undressed to get changed and is only happy when dressed and wrapped in a blanket too. He's a proper little hot water bottle!

TildaKauskumholm · 14/06/2019 09:30

Am amazed to read this! Been freezing all week here in Scotland, heating on (and I don't feel the cold that much)

DappledThings · 14/06/2019 09:30

My BBC app is still saying 18/19 next week with lots of cloud cover. I can cope with that. Today is still cloudier than it said it would be.

And it's not long till we've had the longest day and the nights can start drawing in. That makes me happy!

ExpletiveDelighted · 14/06/2019 10:41

I differ on the day length, light mornings and evenings are my favourite aspect of summer, its just relentless sun and high temperatures that I hate.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 14/06/2019 11:04

I too like light mornings and evenings to dark mornings etc. But I hate the heat associated with it all. Don't like blazing hot sun at 7am.

LoafofSellotape · 14/06/2019 11:34

I love it when it gets dark early,I like drawing the curtains lighting candles and cosying up 🙂

lorit · 14/06/2019 11:46

"Other people like something different from me, I'll rant about it on their thread" Confused

Jeez get over yourself.

Becca19962014 · 14/06/2019 12:42

It's grey here but still warm.

It's not got below 17c in my flat for weeks (and has gone as high as 25) and though not hot for others it is for me - that's in part because of my neighbours insisting on putting their sodding heating on because they say it's "freezing". Yesterday someone asked me to close my window as its making them cold and they're having to put their heating on (not going to happen as my window stays open all year - I need fresh air for medical equipment).

I know we were "lucky" where I am as last year it only hit 30c+ for a few days mostly it was plus 21c which is still too much for me and triggering my health problems. The 25c a couple of weeks ago was the same. Though weather stations say it was 19 it was not. Today they say 15c, it's 17c. Grey and cloudy. Great.

I'm not hiding my joy at our so called shitty summer anymore.

It poured down last night but by 10am was dry.

It's wet, it's not freezing cold and supposedly like winter I keep hearing people moaning about. I went into a shop yesterday and sweated my way around it as they had their heating on full..

xiona75 · 14/06/2019 12:53

We have got "bad weather" here which means it's cloudy and the temp has dropped 10 degrees-we only got 27c today. There is even talk of rain-I May well do a happy dance

DasMumBoot · 14/06/2019 12:56

AIBU to ask if the only reason don’t like summer is because they’re overweight and don’t like wearing summer clothes

Nope it’s because the condition I have causes my autonomic system to go into overdrive so that even strolling around in 70 degrees plus and I’m drenched from head to toe, my heart pounds and my blood pressure goes up . I feel sick and lightheaded and exhausted. It’s just no fun whatsoever looking and feeling wrecked.

Becca19962014 · 14/06/2019 13:23

I'm the opposite das mine goes into failure.

GummyGoddess · 14/06/2019 14:31

Accuweather and BBC are reporting 24 on Tuesday but then back down to 22 max. Still a bit warm for me but after last year I'm just happy it's under 25!

lorit · 14/06/2019 14:52

Oh yes, "are you all just fat and ugly" - what a lovely question. I hope it rains extra hard on you just for that. Grin

And in answer to the question, no, and we've already had this discussion on this very thread. Gah!

Darksideofthemoon19 · 14/06/2019 14:55

I get married in 4 weeks in an outside reception. A heatwave would be lush please thankyou 😌

LoafofSellotape · 14/06/2019 17:08

How utterly bizarre all the warm weather lovers are drawn to this threadConfused It's the equivalent of when the menz explain how something is done, like a weird version of mansplaining. Weathersplaining!

DasMumBoot · 14/06/2019 17:12

loafofsellotape totally agree. It’s like commenting on a running thread that you don’t understand why anyone would run or might like it. Or on a cooking thread to say you can’t understand why anyone would spend ages making a meal because you only buy ready made meals. Just why?

Becca autonomic systems eh! Nightmare things when they don’t work properly.

ExpletiveDelighted · 14/06/2019 17:24

It's been a bit muggy here today but the wind has got up now and it feels fresher. Dry all day too, got my washing dry on the line.

Becca19962014 · 14/06/2019 18:43

das definitely. It'd be nice to know, even for a day what it'd be like with one that worked properly!

LoafofSellotape · 14/06/2019 21:04

Was a bit muggy here too but much nicer now.

Nousernameforme · 14/06/2019 22:09

The sun came out this evening. If it keeps up tommorrow I am going to have to, Do The Garden and I would really rather not

DasMumBoot · 14/06/2019 22:11

Becca I agree. Just to have a normal response to hot and to cold weather and to not feel physically sick in both would be so good. It’s such hard work to hardly ever feel comfortable.

Becca19962014 · 14/06/2019 22:18

And to find someone who understands.

I'm sorry you're going through this too.

DasMumBoot · 14/06/2019 22:23

Becca thanks and sorry you’re also struggling with this as well.

mydogisthebest · 15/06/2019 09:32

So you suggest I don't read the thread but don't say anything about the point I make about the weather in the UK.

Let's be honest the weather here is pretty shit most of the time. Despite what some of you say, we do have wet and grey most of the year. Even when not actually properly cold it's still far from warm let alone hot.

We never get more than a couple of weeks of hot weather (apart from last year).

As I said, I don't like hot weather but I do like it to be warm enough not to need the heating on, to be able to wear a T shirt outside not a bloody mac everyday.

If you all hate even the slightest bit of warmth that much you are lucky you live in the UK with our shit weather. You should also be grateful you are not one of the many that are depressed by and hate the cold, the rain, the grey, the dark, the bloody miserable days that go on and on and on for month after month. To moan about a few days a year is a joke
