It's time... Yes we fucking hate summer.

Although it hasn't got as hot as it was last year (yet) I feel like I've already had enough. I'm got hayfever, I can't go outside without insects getting in my face and I'm already feeling hot and sticky. I also want to go to bed and someone round here is having an outdoors party. Yes I'm a Scrooge, no I don't care. Roll on autumn and crisp sunny days and frost and apples and brightly coloured leaves (ahh, I feel cooler already.)

No it hasn't at all Fundamentally. Nothing like last winter's constant recurrence of the Beast from the East. I wouldn't even mind 18 - 20 degrees, but where I live we aren't even achieving that Sad

I prefer it to be T-shirt weather and not need a jumper, but we have had very few days of T-shirt weather so far.

ExpletiveDelighted · 08/06/2019 12:56

It wasn't very cold down south either, one day of snow, a few hard frosts but generally mild. 15C here today, which is nice.

WhatIfIHadnt · 08/06/2019 12:58

Last year was utterly miserable for me. My sleep suffered, my health suffered as I stayed in all the time and my work suffered as it was too hot and stuffy to concentrate.

Dressing for the heat is a deeply unpleasant affair!

The last few days of rain and drizzle have been wonderful. Long may the cool weather last!

Emmabryant123 · 08/06/2019 13:11

Wonderful weather today
14c and v windy with a couple of showers

V happy long may it last
Forecast rain every day next week 😁 and no higher than 15c hurrah!

TapasForTwo · 08/06/2019 13:37

Be careful what you wish for. I doubt that the farmers want a washout summer. Something between last year and what we have now should keep everyone happy.

RottnestFerry · 08/06/2019 16:26

And I know people say there are clothes fo everyone, but not when you consider chub rub, and budget

I'd never heard of chub rub until last year, even then I had to ask what it meant.

Becca19962014 · 09/06/2019 12:51

15c here, supposedly. Feels hotter in sun - I got back a hot sweaty mess. Which annoyingly now I'm back has disappeared.

ExpletiveDelighted · 09/06/2019 14:59

18C, dry with sunny intervals here, low humidity, washing dry on the line, teeshirt weather. If it stays like this I'm happy.

thethethethethe · 09/06/2019 15:03

I had to work late the other day. Went to bed at 3am and it was already light!

MotherofPearl · 09/06/2019 21:55

Lovely here in the NW! Cool, drizzly, and no temps higher than about 20c at the very most for the next fortnight - bliss.

Everyone is moaning about what miserable summer weather it is and I almost feel ashamed to admit that I love it and don't find it at all miserable. Grin

rosie1959 · 09/06/2019 22:02

I think it's pretty miserable at the moment pity the poor souls away on UK holidays
I love the spring and summer 80% of my wardrobe are summer stuff
Find the winter very depressing and why people are wishing for more of the same seems absolutely mad to me

giraffesarefab · 09/06/2019 22:03

Ah my people are here! I'm in south Yorkshire and the weather today has been perfect. Windy, relatively dry and pleasantly warm - great for drying my washing.
My memory things keep popping up on Facebook and my boys were in shorts and tshirts and we'd already done splash parks and everything, just to cool down!
My blood ran cold when it was reported of 'another super hot summer', dear God no! So far so good, and it is relatively cool for the foreseeable future too - long may that go on!

TapasForTwo · 09/06/2019 23:26

giraffes it's going to be 12 degrees on Wednesday Shock Sad

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 09/06/2019 23:38

Loving the weather!!Grin

Please god they'll be more drizzle this week and next. And the breeze. Perfect

TapasForTwo · 10/06/2019 07:36

Why drizzle all the time? Is cool weather not enough?

We had 17 degrees yesterday, mostly cloudy with a short sharp shower at about 1 pm. It was a perfect temperature for gardening.

origamiunicorn · 10/06/2019 07:39

I live it when I can go out on a t-shirt and jeans, any hotter and I get irritable. Also last summer was generally wasp free as we had such a bad winter. This summer is full of the stripey bastards ruining my fun.

TapasForTwo · 10/06/2019 07:45

T-shirt and jeans is good. It wasn't T-shirt weather for me yesterday, but I am a wimp.

Rockbird · 10/06/2019 07:51

13° here today but it's always a few degrees warmer than the app says. I love it but could do without the rain if I'm being picky Wink. Nevertheless, I'll take it over the heat!

Asta19 · 10/06/2019 07:52

It’s nice that we have somewhere where we can express our happiness at the cool, damp weather! (Minus the heat lovers who come on here to moan at us!). We’ve had showers here this morning and it feels lovely and fresh.

ExpletiveDelighted · 10/06/2019 07:53

Forecast is very wet here this week, I'd rather that than baking sun though.

littlewhitething · 10/06/2019 07:57

What summer? I'm in the SW and we've had about one week of decent weather - not at the same time swim - and the forecast is grim for this week and next!

Thatsnotmyname4291 · 10/06/2019 07:58

Ah, my people, I have found you. Living abroad. Summer arrived literally overnight last week.
I hate it already. Any trip outdoors requires sunscreen and very cold water, I get sweaty and a headache, my thighs rub together so I can’t wear nice cool dresses, and it’s too hot to run around after the children.

The difference is that we’re more set up for it here, with air con in all homes and siesta-type shop closures in the afternoons.
If I could I’d spend the summer in the UK but then a) that’d be three months of nursery fees down the pan and b) I’d be just as uncomfortable in the uk as our home and car there have no air con.

Magicool is a wonderful innovation, as is watermelon, vast vast quantities of watermelon.

ExpletiveDelighted · 10/06/2019 07:59

Well, maybe we should call the next thread "I fucking love this cool summer weather".

Thatsnotmyname4291 · 10/06/2019 11:57

Expletive I wasn’t trying to be snotty, just stating that I also hate the hot weather?

LoafofSellotape · 10/06/2019 12:00

Pissing down here but not cold. Looking like it's going to be warmer next week but says there will be a breeze which is good news!
