Where did your screen name come from?

Just curious how people choose their names and if they have any meaning. I'm a regular name changer (although I never announce the name change, feels like it defeats the purpose somewhat!) and have been on mumsnet for a couple of years.

My current one is a line from Judge Judy, I thought it was time for a change and that was the next thing i heard on the telly. I realised that it might seem like my DPs left me afterwards but that got me thinking, where do others get their names from. Anyone care to share? Smile

Regular name changer here too.

Current one is the line from a Celtic football song that's been stuck in my head for weeks.

EjectorCrab · 01/05/2019 17:57

Regular name changer also.

This one is related to a sport I participate in, rowing. It’s when your blade gets trapped under the water (to catch a crab) but you're going so fast that the oar slams into your chest, sometimes with enough power to eject you from your seat.

EjectorCrab · 01/05/2019 18:01

Probably should have said ‘used to participate in’. I’ve not been rowing for over a year and am unlikely to get back into it.

Because the song won't leave my brain! It stuck and plays small snippets over and over . Especially in the dead of night.

@MrsWidgerysLodger

My DH showed me that video as well Grin
I wanted to have SeagullsStopItNow as a username but it was taken Shock
It would have been based on another video of the same people that did 'bushes of love' Grin

ProfessorofPerspective · 01/05/2019 18:04

This is an actual position at the Royal Society of Arts or something and it just made me think that it would be a good thing to be in real life.

MatthewBramble · 01/05/2019 18:06

A character in "Humphrey Clinker" by Tobias Smollet.

chesterfuckingdraws · 01/05/2019 18:10

Mine comes from my annoyance at people that spell chest of drawers Angry

CharDeeMacDennis · 01/05/2019 18:13

I'm obsessed with various TV programmes, and practically all my NCs come from one or another of them, usually what I've most recently binge-watched.

This one's from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

NotPennysBoat · 01/05/2019 18:15

Breathtaking scene from the series LOST...

Where did your screen name come from?
Lastbustowhitehawk · 01/05/2019 18:15

Late 90s/early 2000s local radio in Sussex - everyone listened to Terry Garrigan's Last Bus to Whitehawk in the evening and discussed at school the following day. Can't imagine teens doing that now!

KindleAndCake · 01/05/2019 18:17

Ohhellothereladyface · 01/05/2019 18:19

GenuineKlatchianPottery · 01/05/2019 18:34

I’ve had a few names, this one is a line from a Terry Pratchett book.
erry Pratchett’s Witches Abroad

Then she raised her head, and said: ‘Kettle boiled just now. Would you like a cup of tea?‘
NO, THANK YOU, said a voice right behind her.
‘How long have you been waiting?’
FOREVER
‘Not keeping you am I?‘
IT’S A QUIET NIGHT.
‘I’m making a cup of tea. I think there’s one biscuit left.‘
NO, THANK YOU.
‘If you feel peckish, it’s in the jar on the mantelpiece. That’s genuine Klatchian pottery, you know. Made by a genuine Klatchain craftsman. From Klatch,’ she added.
INDEED?

Auntpetunia2015 · 01/05/2019 18:38

Mines obvious.. the date comes from the time MN got hacked and my name and stuff was compromised and they insisted we change it. I changed my email but kept my name..as I was mid way through some big education threads when the kids were doing alevels and I wanted people to know it was still me !

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 01/05/2019 18:41

MrsBadCrumblesClarinet · 01/05/2019 18:49

I name change a lot but this one is in reference to an Eddie Izzard sketch.

ForalltheSaints · 01/05/2019 18:50

It was the name of my fantasy football team in the 1990s- the team included some very dirty players such as Roy Keane and Vinny Jones, hence the saints bit.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 01/05/2019 18:54
