Where did your screen name come from?

Just curious how people choose their names and if they have any meaning. I'm a regular name changer (although I never announce the name change, feels like it defeats the purpose somewhat!) and have been on mumsnet for a couple of years.

My current one is a line from Judge Judy, I thought it was time for a change and that was the next thing i heard on the telly. I realised that it might seem like my DPs left me afterwards but that got me thinking, where do others get their names from. Anyone care to share? Smile

My job is taking science activities into schools. My username is what a pupil called out as I carried a stack of equipment crates into the classroom.

It's a scene from Alan Partridge that goes something like this......

"You threw a copper kettle at Whoopi Goldberg's cat?"..."no I threw Whoopie Godlberg's copper kettle at a cat".

Ameanstreakamilewide · 01/05/2019 22:19

@MrsBadCrumblesClarinet I thought so! It was during the 1490 War, if memory serves. 😉

New York is my favourite place to visit so I chose a username from there which sounds like it could be a name.

GothicMansionOnARainyNight · 01/05/2019 22:25

It’s part of a quote from an episode of Frasier:

Niles and Daphne are alone in his house] My God, it's a recipe for disaster! You've got a vulnerable woman and an unstable man in a gothic mansion on a rainy night! The only thing missing is someone shouting "Heathcliff!" across the moors!

I’m the side order that people can take or leave

Badbilly · 01/05/2019 22:31

Mine is quite a boring reason. I’ve been in various forums with names such as “ Mambo”, “ O’Neill”, “Saltrock”, “ Kangaroo Poo” and various other Surf wear manufacturers. It is now the turn of Badbilly, although the correct name of the shirts was Badbillies, so I’ve used a little bit of poetic licence!

MoaningMinniee · 01/05/2019 22:40

@magimedi I've often wondered! Thanks... I'm on a recent NC myself so you won't know who I am but rest assured we've been on a lot of threads together!

twopintsprick · 02/05/2019 06:54
