Prompted or inspired by another thread, I miss early 2000 Monsoon for beautiful dresses, 1990s Next for work (mainly), and going back in time C&A and littlewoods for uniform and school coats (my mum bought those though :) ) and the Marshall Ward catalogue my mum used to get for summer holiday stuff. American Classics
Flip

Most of my teen clothes came from here, especially when I was a student

Happynow001 · 23/04/2019 02:25

*. BHS for a lot of basic clothing, bedding, lighting, household stuff
*. Swan & Edgar on Piccadilly Circus
*. Austin Reed (I loved the tailored silky mid calf, sharply pleated skirts & jackets). I still have one if their "military" style suits also which I wore to my brother's wedding.

  • Woolworths (I bought some beautiful peony plants from their garden department which were a triumph in my garden).
tiddlyipom · 23/04/2019 02:34

Flip is still going @alltoomuchrightnow www.flipvintage.com/about-us/ I used to go to the one in Edinburgh although I think their only store is in Newcastle now.
Having moved to Australia...I miss every UK store, clothes here are either cheap shit or expensive shit!

I loved Tammy Girl as a teenager, and Morgan and Kookai when I was late teens and early 20s. Really miss East as well.

Also still mourning Woolies :(

sue51 · 23/04/2019 13:59

Kensington market with the aroma of old afghan coat and patchouli essence. Happy memories of that one.

alltoomuchrightnow · 23/04/2019 14:34

ah really there's still a Flip?! I meant the Covent Garden one. Newcastle is sooooo far...sigh.. need to plan a trip now!

alltoomuchrightnow · 23/04/2019 14:34

Jane Norman is in Peacocks, at least it is in my local

SarahTancredi · 23/04/2019 14:43

Eisenegger- great for cheap tshirts/vest tops. Lots of combat trousers too.

Madhouse.

La senza- loved their deals on underwear even if their bra measuring sucked. Good for night wear too.

RomanyQueen1 · 23/04/2019 19:41

Chelsea Girl, and no RI are not the same.
Also C&A

KenDoddsDadsDog · 23/04/2019 19:43

Kookai - it was where I spent my first pay packets
Morgan - when I was slim enough to fit in the clothes !
1990s Next and Oasis. Next used to do beautiful shoes in the late 80s. All of us wore their loafers in sixth form.

NotMeNoNo · 23/04/2019 19:43

Laura Ashley in the 80s and 90s when it was wall to wall sailor dresses, florals and velvet. I saved up my first wages and student grant for them to fit in at Cambridge. I wouldn't wear it now but the shops had such a lovely vibe. Now they have taken up where BHS left off Sad

booksandcaffeine · 23/04/2019 19:44

Tammy when it was in Etam.

lotusbell · 23/04/2019 19:44

Coats and 'ats! C&A Grin
