Prompted or inspired by another thread, I miss early 2000 Monsoon for beautiful dresses, 1990s Next for work (mainly), and going back in time C&A and littlewoods for uniform and school coats (my mum bought those though :) ) and the Marshall Ward catalogue my mum used to get for summer holiday stuff. Pilot! Got some brilliant stuff from there in the 90s.

fluffiphlox · 22/04/2019 18:15

The Next of the 80s and 90s.
Austin Reed for workwear.

LuxuryWoman2018 · 22/04/2019 18:15

I miss when Principles had stand alone shops and the quality was excellent, I’m at an age where I’d probably shop in Richards were they still around.

Etam used to have some gems, mostly though I miss shoe shops, Dolcis, Freeman Hardy and Willis etc. My local town has Shoezone or Clarkes.

Bisset · 22/04/2019 18:16

Why are you sad that Primark exists, Forall?

(Sports Direct I can understand)

MontyPythonsFlyingFuck · 22/04/2019 18:18

Another vote for East. I have some gorgeous things from there, and I'm sad there won't be any more.

dontcallmelen · 22/04/2019 18:19

Crafty ooh Richard shops, that a blast from the past (goes all misty eyed)

JenMumma · 22/04/2019 18:20

Bay trading, the sweater shop, kookai, Morgan, Tammy Girl / Etam 🥰

dontcallmelen · 22/04/2019 18:22

Ravel & faith shoe shops, I still have some heels from faith & some beautiful sparkly shoes from Ravel.

BarefootHippieChick · 22/04/2019 18:23

Tammy Girl, Clockhouse, Pilot, Bay Trading, MK One...All remind me of those halcyon teenage years 😁

dontcallmelen · 22/04/2019 18:24

Yy East, they had some real gems, Karen Millen when first started & coast.

MillicentMartha · 22/04/2019 18:24

Snob and Chelsea Girl. I don’t miss Etam.

TooMinty · 22/04/2019 18:26

I still have (and wear) a dress and a top from Kookai. How long have I owned them?!

Lungelady · 22/04/2019 18:27

I worked for Richard Shops.
Also Principles when they had shops, not post concessions.

Lungelady · 22/04/2019 18:27

poxy

Ellapaella · 22/04/2019 18:28

Kookai - loves their stuff

cliquewhyohwhy · 22/04/2019 18:28

Tammy girl lol.

cortex10 · 22/04/2019 18:28

1980s Next - still have a couple of items at the back of the wardrobe - beautiful tailoring and colours.

donutrehomer · 22/04/2019 18:29

Cable & Co for Shoes, Chelsea Girl, Snob, Richards, 80s Ravel just for the knee high leather lace up boots, another vote for 80s/90s Next from me. Late 80s M&S work clothes, one suit 8 different pieces in primary and pastel shades. Loved Kew as well.

Ellapaella · 22/04/2019 18:29

Hang on - apparently according to google Kookai still exists!

Rockbird · 22/04/2019 18:30

Rogers and Rogers from the mid to late 90s. Clothes for the fat (me!) that were actually fashionable, cut properly and looked great. Actual clothes that 20 somethings wore, not their aunty Sheila on holiday in Spain.

They were still around fairly recently, having sold out to Matalan and now providing clothes for the aforementioned aunty Sheila.

allfurcoatnoknickers · 22/04/2019 18:31

I know the founder was very problematic, but I really miss American Apparel. They're online, but it's not the same.

Also miss a pre-bankruptcy La Senza. They used to have a really great size range and I had loads of cheap, gorgeous underwear sets from there c.2006-2008 when I was a student.

PajamasnoDramas · 22/04/2019 18:37

For me it has to be Morgan, had some great stuff from there and it all fitted nicely (back in t’day when I was a few stone lighter Grin) and bay trading, Ravel, Pilot, and Richards closed down just as I was starting to get to the age that I’d prefer their stuff to Top Shop.
I also miss what M&S and Next were in the 90s Sad

Petalflowers · 22/04/2019 18:38

Racing Green still exists for menswear. I did like their ladies range.

Stores I miss include
C and A
Indigo range in Marks and spencer
FHW - for shoes

Petalflowers · 22/04/2019 18:38

Forgotten about Richards

SherlockHolmes · 22/04/2019 18:40

Snob - our local one used to smell fantastic and had v cool clothes.
C&A - especially Clockhouse and skiwear
Chelsea Girl - affordable and height of fashion
Etam - a bit less cool but I had some fab things from there
Woolworths for cheap n cheerful baby stuff
BHS (but only for their cardigans)
