Prompted or inspired by another thread, I miss early 2000 Monsoon for beautiful dresses, 1990s Next for work (mainly), and going back in time C&A and littlewoods for uniform and school coats (my mum bought those though :) ) and the Marshall Ward catalogue my mum used to get for summer holiday stuff. East yes! I always imagined Felicity Kendal bought all her clothes there.

FiremanKing · 22/04/2019 19:06

Boy on the Kings Road and Nasty in Southend in Sea and Naf Naf.

Connieston · 22/04/2019 19:08

MadisonAvenue I got my first work shoes from Mark One at The Bullring. Picked them off a rack in a pair, common now but in '97 wasn't so much!

The Pier. Home shop. I loved their wine glasses. Also their Christmas bits and bobs. Great when their were offers and I just liked browsing.

Connieston · 22/04/2019 19:09

Naf Naf! Haven't heard that in ages!

Oops not a clothing store but still closed down sadly

redexpat · 22/04/2019 19:10

Yy to Racing Green!

BestIsWest · 22/04/2019 19:11

I have a Monsoon dress from about 1994 which is beautiful. It will never fit me again but is one of those things you just don’t want to part with. I think they weren’t even a chain back then but just sold through individual shops - I bought it in Equinox in Tenby.

dannydyerismydad · 22/04/2019 19:13

Shelley's shoes. No trip to London was complete without a trip to their Oxford Circus store.

And Benneton. I think they still exist, but they are hard to find.

dontcallmelen · 22/04/2019 19:14

Naf naf my dcs used to love that stuff.
Yy The Peir, brilliant shop for browsing & always had unusual things.

Coolcoolcoolcoolcool · 22/04/2019 19:14

Vintage shops with cheap, clean clothes that someone had actually checked for holes etc before putting them on the shop floor. That probably ended around 2007.

dontcallmelen · 22/04/2019 19:15

Crikey Shelley Shoes, I bought my first pair of platform from Shelley’s they were snakeskin & must have been at least six inches high.

CraftyGin · 22/04/2019 19:17

Hammells?

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 22/04/2019 19:18

I miss East. They were great for summer tops and dresses. There was a lady in the shop that I went to that would just hand me things and tell me to try them on and they were almost always lovely on and not necessarily what I would have picked off the rail.

BHS (or British Home Stores, to give it its rightful name)

CraftyGin · 22/04/2019 19:27

What Every Woman Wants.

mejon · 22/04/2019 19:28

Another one missing Racing Green. Also Eddie Bauer - I think they still exist in the States but there were shops in Cardiff, Bristol and Bath and sold great linen and jersey things and fab accessories.
Not sure if it's still going, but loved Jackpot in Bath. I still wear a long-sleeved navy t-shirt that must be at least 20 years old.

Jasmineallenestate · 22/04/2019 19:30

Coppernob

Sakura7 · 22/04/2019 19:38

A-wear in Ireland was amazing but sadly it was a victim of the recession. I still miss it.

Wincarnis · 22/04/2019 19:44

Vivian Smith (used to be a great shop in Leeds)
Long Tall Sally clothing (only online now and ridiculous prices)
Kaliko

stucknoue · 22/04/2019 19:45

C&a

Nat6999 · 22/04/2019 19:52

Richards shops, used to buy nearly all my clothes there, Principals stand alone shops when they sold a full range of sizes, Dolcis I bought loads of their shoes. Next 80's used to have brilliant quality leather shoes & bags.

Bodicea · 22/04/2019 20:00

Kookai. The still had it in selfridges for a long time but not sure they do anymore.

Bananalanacake · 22/04/2019 20:08

Pilot in Leeds I am sure had a different name which was something Island. nice cheap and trendy clothes 20 years ago.
