Prompted or inspired by another thread, I miss early 2000 Monsoon for beautiful dresses, 1990s Next for work (mainly), and going back in time C&A and littlewoods for uniform and school coats (my mum bought those though :) ) and the Marshall Ward catalogue my mum used to get for summer holiday stuff. All that iconic advertising. Lost now. I remember Victoria Wood doing a routine about unfolding the sweaters.

woodhill · 22/04/2019 20:25

THe original Principles who had independent shops, Kew were nice.

Also liked Etam and Richards

MrsCasares · 22/04/2019 20:27

Loved Richard shops.

woodhill · 22/04/2019 20:31

I also loved Racing Green.

Stuff is rubbish now

DobbyTheHouseElk · 22/04/2019 20:31

I have a Benetton duffel bag I still use. It’s been going strong for years. I think I bought it in 1994 as a gym bag,

zen1 · 22/04/2019 20:32

Sock Shop
Tammy Girl (circa 1985)
Chelsea Girl
Red or Dead

Crunchymum · 22/04/2019 20:33

Wasn't a shop but NafNaf was the height of 90's sophistication in my neck of the woods.

And Benetton.

AnnettePrice · 22/04/2019 20:42

OP, online clothkits
clothkits.co.uk/
And they have a shop in Chichester.

I morn Kew, basically Jigsaw at a more reasonable price.

Used to love Next in the 80s
Anyone remember Mondi?

Ellapaella · 22/04/2019 20:55

Does anyone remember the NafNaf rip off Naffco54? Everyone at my school (early 90's) had those jackets with that on the back that they got from the local market. I had a t shirt and thought I was the height of sophistication!

AndromedaPerseus · 22/04/2019 20:56

M&S when it sold clothes you wanted to wear

Angelinthenightx · 22/04/2019 21:01

Geekster1963 · 22/04/2019 21:02

I liked BHS and I remember me and my sisters wearing matching Clothkits dresses I hated them!

BikeRunSki · 22/04/2019 22:06

Benetton still alive and well in Hiddersfield!

BikeRunSki · 22/04/2019 22:08

Harking back to the era of Clothkits, does anyone remember when Clark’s briefkybdid children’s clothes? DSis and I had bottle green needlecord pinafore dresses from them, and matching turtle neck jumpers.

fluffiphlox · 22/04/2019 22:31

And also the Wallis of old not the cheapie place it is now.

BikeRunSki · 22/04/2019 22:37

Jeffrey Rogers

NormanTheForeman · 22/04/2019 22:40

Loved Racing Green for women. Still miss them. East.

Also liked Richards and Hammells.

And a few things from BHS (beach towels, still have them).

Also Next, M & S and Monsoon as they used to be in the early - mid 2000s. And Laura Ashley same era.

TheFatberg · 22/04/2019 22:42

Ellapaella I remember those. And Eclipse jeans which I think had a person smoking a spliff on them. Stylish!

I loved the Sweater Shop as a kid, it was a real treat to get something from there with Christmas or birthday money.

Fifthtimelucky · 22/04/2019 22:46

From the 1980s: Principles, Solo, and Richard Shops (I still have lots of their clothes hangers, so am often reminded of it.)

From the 1990s: Talbots (I think). I presume it was a chain. There was a shop in Kingston but I moved away. Also Racing Green.

More recently: East

katseyes7 · 22/04/2019 22:49

l don't think it was ever a store, but l used to love Offshoot concessions. Their maxi dresses were lovely.
And Sacha shoes. l had some fabulous 6" heel platforms back in the day.

scaryteacher · 22/04/2019 22:53

C&A in UK, though branches here in Belgium.
East for skirts and pretty cotton blouses
Wealth of Nations (online) for skirts and some tops.
