I've only ever been to shit beaches in this country but I'm sure there are some beautiful ones and I'm keen to explore 🏖

I also love Lulworth Cove. Totally different kind of beach but just a really nice place to spend time.

bellsbuss · 15/04/2019 21:45

Harlyn Bay, Cornwall is my favourite.

Northumberland beaches are lovely, as are the beaches on the east coast of Scotland. The outer Hebrides have some beautiful beaches as well. I like remote beaches and some of the little cove harbours and bays in the SE Scotland are just gorgeous.

MondeoFan · 15/04/2019 21:46

Perranporth beach

Tunnockswafer · 15/04/2019 21:47

Too many to mention along the Antrim coast.

GrassIsntGreener · 15/04/2019 21:51

Anywhere in Norfolk. Some amazing and wild beaches. I'm not all about sand though, love a stony and rocky beach.

Mesmeri · 15/04/2019 21:55

Agree strongly with all the Scottish suggestions.

Also Kingsbarns beach south of St Andrews (which also has 3 lovely beaches of it's own) is wonderful with small children - golden sand, rock pools, enough space for everyone but also nicely sheltered - not quite as windswept as some of the east coast beaches.

bangwhistle · 15/04/2019 21:55

Another vote for Constantine Bay - dunes, amazing rock pools, surf. Just toilets and a cute cafe for amenities. I never go in summer though: shoulder season is key.

MrsMoastyToasty · 15/04/2019 21:58

Calgary Bay on Mull (just a beach)
Croyde (for all the reasons stated above)
Mill Bay (opposite Salcombe in Devon, for my childhood memories)

Worst beach - Severn Beach.

Mesmeri · 15/04/2019 21:59

Or for a stoney beach, you can't beat Ardmair, the flat stoned beach north of Ullapool, where every single stone is a skimming stone!

redbedheadd · 15/04/2019 22:00

Tynemouth long sands and kings Edwards bay with the priory castle looking over it

Depends what you want, but for young children/toddlers we live North Norfolk. They are sandy and shallow and when the tide goes out there are little streams and pools left on the beach which the kids live playing in. Wells is nice, but Brancaster and Old Hunstanton are my favourites I think. Holkham is lovely, but too far to walk from car park and toilets for young children.

Hearhere · 15/04/2019 22:13

Severn beach definitely the worst,
North Devon Camber sands the Gower oh I how I loved them all

rosy71 · 15/04/2019 22:26

Harlech
Barmouth
Barafundle Bay
Bamburgh
Newquay, Wales
St Ives

FellaGoneRogue · 15/04/2019 22:29

@Mrscog

Carbis Bay used to be gorgeous but like you say it's totally over developed bastardised now. It made me really sad last time I went. They (the owners) put the car parking charges up with the temperature too!

BestIsWest · 15/04/2019 22:33

I was at both Cwm Ivy/Whiteford Burrows and Oxwich this week. Beautiful.

tocotoucan · 15/04/2019 22:45

we love Llanelli beach in Wales

huggybear · 15/04/2019 22:47

Blackpool Sands in Devon for me.

LittleAndOften · 15/04/2019 22:51

West Wittering. It's my favourite, but only out of season. Since it became the go-to day trip for posh londoners, there's just no point in high season. Unless you want to queue for 4 hours on the single road to get down and 4 hours to get back (I'm not even exaggerating).

AlexaAmbidextra · 15/04/2019 22:53

Holkham.

anascrecca · 15/04/2019 22:55

Cornwall: Perranporth is pretty good . Gets very busy in peak season. Holywell bay is lovely too. Lligwy beach in Anglesey is unspoilt .

FrankiesKnuckle · 15/04/2019 22:56

Hayle in Cornwall

Croyde bay in Devon

Botany Bay in Kent

ShannonRockallMalin · 15/04/2019 23:02

Another vote for North Norfolk, especially Old Hunstanton (not Sunny Hunny, ugh) Brancaster and Bacton. We're actually off to see the seals tomorrow at Blakeney!

KennDodd · 15/04/2019 23:14

What are the shit beaches you were thinking of op?
