Hi sorry was in a meeting!

I'm looking for pretty much what @storynanny described Smile

rock pools for children, sand dunes to roll down, waves for surfing, oh I want to go there now!
Not many facilities, basic toilets, cafe, equipment hire, lifeguards, no amusements etc.

I said shit beaches in my OP which was a bit unfair. But I've mostly been to typical seaside resorts for amusements and fish and chips. Which are fun and great for the kids.

Depends on what you want! Surfing type waves, or calm, very shallow sea for paddling, or shelving steeply for swimmers to get in quickly - close to eateries/shops/loos or isolated, etc.

Belvoir Bay on Herm. Have travelled around the world to lots of exotic beaches, but it really is up there with the best of them. Sea’s a bit cold though! 😂

Wells by the Sea or Holkham beach in North Norfolk

SinglePringle · 15/04/2019 17:30

Sanna Bay on the west coast of Scotland. White powder sand, crystal clear, turquoise water, dunes. Nothing else there.

stucknoue · 15/04/2019 17:31

Scotland has amazing deserted beaches with beautiful white sand. But the perfect beach is very subjective, I like quiet others like facilities

stucknoue · 15/04/2019 17:34

Ps ddog's loves a deserted beach too, once he got really lucky and sheep appeared on the beach for him to round up!

Lozz22 · 15/04/2019 18:02

@worl my home town!! Northside beach is far too pebbly, we used to collect the big flat white pebbles and paint on them when we were kids. Although I'm sure I read somewhere that it's actually illegal now to remove them off the beach. Southside beach is our best beach no pebbles just nice stretches of sand. Used to love it when the tide was fully out and finding little pools of sea water where people had dug holes. The sun would warm them right up so they were ideal for sitting and playing in. Most of my favourite childhood memories are from playing down to n southside beach or on the rides that used to be down there

youarenotkiddingme · 15/04/2019 18:03

Can we sands is absolutely beautiful.
But read the information re tides in that area before you go.

Cismyfatarse1 · 15/04/2019 18:05

Silver Sands, Morar.

I can see it from my window right now.

hugoagogo · 15/04/2019 18:12

Waxham is great, it probably doesn't meet your criteria though.
How about Traeth Llydan?

maddy68 · 15/04/2019 18:13

West Kirby beach in the Wirral. Huge beach, island to walk to

CherryPavlova · 15/04/2019 18:18

West Wittering and East head are stunning.
Blackpool sands is nice but pebbly.
Whitesands in Pembrokeshire is lovely.
Isle of Wight has all sorts of lovely beaches from shallow, warm sea and endless sand in Ryde (far end to avoid touristy end, the long, sandy Freshwater Bay, Ventnor with 1950s charm and no amusements now plus a fantastic cliff path walk to Steephill Cove.
Some of the Suffolk coastal is very nice too.

AnnaDine · 15/04/2019 18:33

Another vote for Three Cliffs Bay

haverhill · 15/04/2019 18:35
