Just that really 😀 will try my best to answer your questions.

britnay wow you are good 🇩🇰
It must be so hard doing it on your own. Yes writing is usually easier, and Danes tend to speak fast and cut out the ending of words.
I do understand you colleagues 😁.
Which band? And good luck 😀.

Danish do you worry that people are your friends so that they can get closer to Mads Mikkelsen?

Also if you feel indecisive do you think you have become Hamlet?

britnay · 01/03/2019 21:20

Tak!
Jeg elsker Mew

pineapplebryanbrown · 01/03/2019 21:22

Did you like Bedrag?

8FencingWire · 01/03/2019 21:22

Hi OP, I visited Copenhagen last year. I absolutely loved it. Danish design is fantastic in my opinion. So are the bakeries :)
I’m glad I had the chance to visit. I might not get another one in this lifetime, I found it very very expensive. But worth it.
You’re very lucky.
We went because we have been watching Rita and The Bridge 😂

Iamdanish · 01/03/2019 21:24

Oh dear, dear thigh 👋. Hope you are OK?
No problems to solve? I will return and make you all miserable 😀.
Most affluent place to live is north of Copenhagen. You must forget Mads. Hugs

Danish i solved everything Sad

soulrider · 01/03/2019 21:27

Interesting that someone upthread says people from Jylland are easier to understand. The other half is from the west coast and I always find his family harder to understand than people from Copenhagen.

Iamdanish · 01/03/2019 21:29

Winds she is probably either very extroverted or a little bit of a busy body?
But yes, to most we seem blunt it is considered being straight and honest.
I am more blunt than most, and even scare Danes sometimes... How about that 😂.

soul I have heard the same about Jutlandish? Being easier especially for Scottish people. I sometimes find it hard to understand 😁.

Poor thigh perhaps you could order your followers to find him for you? That is a lovely new problem to solve.

I’m happy I now understand what tak for dem and tak for det mean! I now remember the word “vaersgo”, which is useful and seems to mean “there you go” and “you’re welcome”. My work placement was in Copenhagen and my cycling holiday was in Jutland (I got sunburnt in May!). As my Danish is minimal (as you can see!) I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between different Danish accents, but I heard from a colleague that the fisherman on the north east coast of England and the west coast of Denmark don’t have too much trouble understanding each other. I don’t know whether that is true, but I know that words like for home are similar in north east English dialect and in Danish.

I remember the holiday cottages and people flying the flag (Dannebrog?) on them. Do they only do that when they are actually staying there?

Iamdanish · 01/03/2019 21:52

splodge i have heard the same 😀.
Dannebrog is only when people are staying, it has to be taken down every day before sundown.

I am Danish and this thread has made me very happy this morning! Smile

I really need to take trip home sometime soon!

BrizzleMint · 02/03/2019 09:55

What is worth seeing in Copenhagen please ?

Is hygge a real thing and is it as big as the books make it out to be?

Iamdanish · 02/03/2019 10:22

j712 😀 since I watched a very funny children's programme where she always said 'French waffels' in a special voice, I simply can't watch her without thinking about it 😂.
If you can get your hands on a dk film called 'den eneste ene' - the one and only, with subtitles Im sure you will love it. She is brilliant in that one.

Good morning

I have been learning Danish since yesterday afternoon. I am going to go into our local coffee shop and order a coffee and pastry. The manager is Danish so I thought I would impress her by ordering in Danish;

"min luftpudebåd er fyldt med ål"

Does that make sense? Still using my Danish/English dictionary so it won't be perfect. It says "I would like a coffee and a Danish pastry please"

Thank you.

Iamdanish · 02/03/2019 12:59

Al
Monty python 😁.

What you should say with an angry look:
Jeg keder mig, gå i seng med mig nu.

Don't hope she call the cops on you 😀.

OP posts:
Al2O3 · 02/03/2019 13:08

Well, I just ordered a moment ago and this is what happened.

Fuck it!
