My kids are pretty bloodthirsty too! Confused

Will take a look at that suggestion as well, thank you - otherwise I was thinking of going up to Blokhus (adjacencies is a touch too far).

soulrider · 05/03/2019 13:22

Which end of the summer are you going TheWayOfTheWorld?

The West coast can be very busy in July up until mid August (depends on German school holidays)

MadameDD · 05/03/2019 13:24

When I went to Copenhagen a few years ago with then SO, we were a bit Shock to see a Sex Museum (now closed) just off Straget (main street) and Christiania was very open and sold lots of weed/hash cakes etc.

Do you think Denmark (Copenhagen in particular) was more open minded towards sex and drugs back then (approx. 18 years ago) and has it changed now with the closing/dumbing down of those places?

Iamdanish · 05/03/2019 13:55

madame
Of course things have changed, but you can still find the odd sex shop or strip club, atleast in certain areas of the city. Erotica and sex exhibitions are still taking place, too.

About Christiania. Imo you have to actively seek out this place it's not somewhere you pass by chance. I know a lot of tourists do go there, but I have studied, worked and lived in cph. And even had a friend living just in front of Christiania, still i have never been there 😀.

So in answer to you question, things have changed, but we are still quite relaxed 😁.

thanks OP - I agree - we had to search on the map and get a bus to Christiania but apparently it's not as wild as it was when we went there! In fact we only realised we were in the correct place when a man walked by us, obviously stoned (you could see by his eyes!) and my SO said to me 'we're in the right place!'

DuchessOfPhysics · 08/03/2019 21:24

@IamDanish, I'm Irish and I can tell the difference between Swedish, Danish and Norwegian.
Norwegian sounds like a brummie who can hardly be arsed to form the words.

Swedish sounds like somebody from Cork / Wales

Danish sounds a bit more cockney.

Iamdanish · 08/03/2019 22:02

Dangly you all went missing 😀.

Hmm
Iamdanish · 08/03/2019 22:07

Duchess
😁 not strong enough in English to recognize brummie. Perhaps you are right about the others, it's always hard to hear it yourself. Bit sad about the cockney part tough 😂.
But you are the first one on the tread saying you can tell our languages apart 🇩🇰, thank you 😁.

OP posts:
DuchessOfPhysics · 08/03/2019 22:46

I couldn't tell them apart to begin with. The ''beginning'' for me is when I first watched the Bridge! After four seasons of the bridge (as well as wallander and then the killing, and um, Dicte, Rita, Um,,,, Okkupert on netflix (norwegian), it became easy really. I can't believe now that I once found it impossible to distinguish between them. I've watched too much TV I know.

I re-watched season one of the bridge and found it helped (plot-wise) at times to know whether the characters were Swedish or Danish.

soulrider · 08/03/2019 22:48

I was amazed when my colleagues told me they had no idea they were speaking two different languages in The Bridge - Swedish is much prettier sounding than Danish!

DuchessOfPhysics · 08/03/2019 22:52

I also watched something called bonus family on Netflix. That was in Swedish. And All of Steig Larsson. Wow. This has been over the course of 5 years though.

My comprehension of Danish/Swedish is nearly on a par with my Irish language comprehension at this point!!

Iamdanish · 08/03/2019 23:47

Duchess
Impressed 😀. Either you are very good at Danish and Swedish or you are missing out on Irish television series 😁.

Danish last time i went to Copenhagen there were a lot of roadwork and city repairs. It seemed to be a huge programme of regeneration. I had to hide in the Naval Museum in Nyhavn. Have the repairs ended yet?

pineapplebryanbrown · 10/03/2019 08:34

Also when i said tusen tak to anyone they looked at me like i was crazy, why?

soulrider · 10/03/2019 08:42

What were you thanking them for? Tusind tak is more than just thank you - literally a thousand thanks - so you might use it if someone had given you a really nice birthday present but not if they were passing you something at dinner

pineapplebryanbrown · 10/03/2019 08:51

I was thanking a taxi driver for the journey Grin
