Can you tell us what an average wage would be? So if you were eg a teacher, what would you expect to earn?

Bananalanacake · 28/02/2019 20:46

Do you like marmite.

Iamdanish · 28/02/2019 20:47

cuddly no I now I don't want to 😁

Helmut we are such a small language that we have to. And we are taught in school from an early age (sorry for any language Mishaps).

Rhubarb No didn't watch the Bridge, probably the only one in dk who didn't 🙄.
Tak does mean thank you, but we do not use it the same way as please. So I would need to know the context.

Origami some do use helmets, and yes some get injured 😏.

What has Mumsnet taught you about Britain?

Iamdanish · 28/02/2019 20:52

mawbroon Here you are virtual liquorice 😀, you should try salted herrings liquorice (salt sild) they are yummy.

Thank you mamadane, jeg er lidt bagefter 👋.

My children wear a lot of "Scandi" clothes - Danefæ, Alba, villervalla. Do children living in Denmark wear these too or are they more popular in the uk?

mawbroon · 28/02/2019 20:54

Thanks 😊 I have a Dutch husband so no stranger to all the lovely kinds of liquorice Smile

Iamdanish · 28/02/2019 21:01

Helmut some of our languages are quite closely related. We can understand each other. In recent years it has gotten worse and people tend to prefer English. Finnish so far from any of scandic languages, think it is related to Hungarian.

Delia generally Danes think they get their money's worth re# taxes. But a lot are not that happy.
Unless you visited Tivoli in December, winter is not a good time to visit. Late spring and summer is great and yes to beaches 😁.

dogs I'm not the right person to ask. I have seen thread on this and it goes both ways. 😊

HelmutFrontbut · 28/02/2019 21:01

Where do you go for holidays, do you yearn for warm climates?

Rhubarbisevil · 28/02/2019 21:01

Thanks for replying. DH wrote a work email to his Danish colleague along the lines of

“Here is the report you requested. Tak
Mr Rhubarb”

The colleague wrote back “I think you meant to say “Thanks” but actually you wrote something else” - but he did not say anything further to clarify.

Apologies if I’m hijacking the thread. It’s a minor thing, but a puzzling one!

bluddleuddleumdum · 28/02/2019 21:02

Why do Greenlanders speak Danish? Why don't they all speak Greenlandish?

OublietteBravo · 28/02/2019 21:07

Do you find it inconvenient having a different currency to all the neighbouring countries (i.e. Sweden, Norway, Germany)?

MamaDane · 28/02/2019 21:09

Iamdanish Så lidt. 😉 Ha jeg har heller aldrig set Broen Grin Bruger du forresten også min-mave?

Iamdanish · 28/02/2019 21:09

kaytee I know, that however is our language. Have however only met a few Brits who distinguishes the Scandinavian countries correctly, or even care 😄.

Hollow I'm not sure, think a teacher make about 3500£ a month, but I could get flamed.

Banana sorry, never tried it, but would like to. What's it Like?

OP posts:
JanMeyer · 28/02/2019 21:15

Does it annoy you when British people refer to the "Scandinavians" without making any distinction that actually Denmark, Norway and Sweden are three similar but still separate countries?
I see it a lot on here, like when people say "why do Scandinavians have better healthcare than we do." It really bugs me but then I'm pretty pedantic in general.
Was the TV show The Killing as popular in Denmark as it was here in the UK?

Iamdanish · 28/02/2019 21:16

Pierre a lot, but primarily that your politics and politicians are crazy and that you have some very poor people to consider. That's the short version.

wee I'm not sure, danefæ is quite expensive for kids wear. But we have loads of brands for knitwear 🥺.

helmut aahh yes sunshine and warm weather 😁.

Iamdanish · 28/02/2019 21:17

Working hard here will do my best to catch up. Grammar and spelling gets worse and worse when I'm hurrying, so sorry.

OP posts:
palomapear · 28/02/2019 21:23

Can you tell me what I should aim to see if I come to Copenhagen for a weekend please?
Also will I be able to eat vegetarian food easily?
Thanks

kaytee87 · 28/02/2019 21:25

I find that odd as they are different countries. It's a bit like when people lump all Europeans together.

Iamdanish · 28/02/2019 21:26

Rhubarb No tak does mean thanks but we would not use it like that. It was the colleague who should respond with a thanks 😁
Hope it makes sense.

buddle they do speak Greenlandish but they are taught Danish mostly because they are an old Danish colony (shame on us).

oubliette no of course not, it is as with every other country. We even voted against having the Euro 😀.

OP posts:
HelmutFrontbut · 28/02/2019 21:26

Oh yeah, what the heck is Greenland all about? Shock

Iamdanish · 28/02/2019 21:33

mamadane årh vi er to 😊. Næh er på hestenettet 😀.

OP posts:
Iamdanish · 28/02/2019 21:37

Jan YES it is quite annoying, it is as if brits have never realized or been taught that Denmark is their next door neighbor 😂. But I rarely comment on it, just note it 😤.
No didn't see the killing, yes all Danes but me did 🤣.

OP posts:
PowerShower · 28/02/2019 21:39

Hej IAmDanish, Jeg heder PowerShower and jeg used to bor i denmark when jeg was young. Jeg kan ikke huske meget danske but still remember the amazing years I spent there. Was gutted to come back to England. Still miss the bike rides, the sledging, the relaxed primary schooling. I so need to go back to visit Smile

Iamdanish · 28/02/2019 21:46

Paloma yes to veggie food, but you have to check with the restaurant when you enter.

Take a tour with the canal boats, that's a good way to see things.
Tivoli (small amusement Park) very nice
Nyhavn
Take some walks in the inner city
There are loads of museums
If you spend an hour on transport (Train) you can visit Louisiana art museum (very famous) and Kronborg (castle in Hamlet)

Hope this gives you an idea, but DO NOT make a special trip to see the little mermaid, you will see her from the boat and she is.... Disappointing 😀.
