Thank you!

Hello Powershower 👋 I'm impressed you remember some of our crazy language 😀. Thank you for your nice words, you are always welcome back.

mawbroon lived 18 months in Holland, loved it 🥰.

Thank you 😊

Is Caroline Fleming (from Ladies of London TV show) very very famous in Denmark?

Iamdanish · 28/02/2019 22:08

Rhubarb Caroline Flemming hhmmm, she has been on dk television a few years ago, and advertise her nylon stockings in supermarket ad papers. So most know who she is.
I would like to say we all neither look or act like her. I don't know if you find that good or bad 😁.

What do you get up to on a Saturday morning when it rains?

SheWoreBlueVelvet · 28/02/2019 22:17

What do you do with your homeless people? I can’t actually imagine any in Denmark but assume you must have some.

Loopytiles · 28/02/2019 22:20

I really loved the bakeries in Copenhagen - delicious breads and tarts!

Quintella · 28/02/2019 22:23

Do you think Jante Law is good for equality but hinders individuality?

Loopytiles · 28/02/2019 22:23

When we were there on holiday random strangers (older than us) stopped us a few times to kind of tell us off, eg when DD was trailling her jumper on the groun. Saw people admonish teens for what to me seemed very minor things not putting their bikes in train station lifts correctly and things like that.

It felt a bit interfering!

NotTheDada · 28/02/2019 22:26

Hi OP! I'm half Danish, my Bedstefar and Bedstemor live in Aarhus!

lboogy · 28/02/2019 22:31

Are ethic minorities treated equally? Do you have anti immigrant sentiments?

lboogy · 28/02/2019 22:32

I mean ethnic minorities- why doesn't this app have an edit button!

DearTeddyRobinson · 28/02/2019 22:35

Oh nothing to add but I have spent quite a bit of time in Copenhagen on business trips and I loved it. Even the offices were so cool and laid back, the people were lovely, everyone speaks such good English! The SAS cabin crew were a bit grumpy sometimes though 😀.
Waves to lovely OP and lovely Denmark 👋

Iamdanish · 28/02/2019 22:35

Al203 no quite sure what you mean. We go about our business as usual, stay in or hygger 😁.

Shewore unfortunately we have homeless people. When really, really cold they stay at the churches. There are shelders for some of them, too. But we really don't do enough. Apparently we also have homeless people from Eastern Europe coming in the summertime to beg, because it pays better. 🥺

Has the concept of 'dogging' reached Denmark yet and if so do you think it will be a fad, or really take off and become part of mainstream Danish culture (in a similar way that it has done in the UK eg Humberside and The Forest of Dean)?

Iamdanish · 28/02/2019 22:38

loopy well thank you 😊.

quintella Janteloven is good for nothing, it is about keeping people in their place, so that they don't think they are better than you.
Should be abolished by law.

OP posts:
Iamdanish · 28/02/2019 22:39

Sorry quintella i find it very upsetting, nothing against you.

AlexaShutUp · 28/02/2019 22:40

What do you and other Danish people think about Brexit?

Also, when I was a kid, my friend had family connections in Denmark and I remember often eating some tiny bite-sized biscuit type snacks, but I can't for the life of me remember what they were called. Any ideas?

Quintella · 28/02/2019 22:44

That's so interesting @Iamdanish. I was a bit amazed by it when I read about it (when I was doing a lot of Denmark research at the height of my Troels Hartman infatuation Grin) but it does sound like it's anti-anyone who doesn't conform.

Iamdanish · 28/02/2019 22:45

loopy sad to say all places have policing entitled people. Certainly not the norm here, trailing the sweater I think people tried to help you perhaps. We do not necessarily smile or such when we say something to strangers, and I think a lot of brits consider us rude, because we socialize in a different manner. And some are truly rude.

Notthe and hello to you, youmust learn Danish 😀.

iboogy treated equally, we try that's the best there is to say. If immigrants genuinely try, want a job and try to learn our language and is not generally opposed to the Danish society, I think they have an easier life. But this is not paradise and we do have anti immigrant sections.

Aww dearteddy what an appropriate user name you have 😀👋.

Iamdanish · 28/02/2019 23:13

Al203 i wouldn't know 😊.

alexa wouldn't know about the bisquits can you draw them?
Brexit ååh don't get me started, I can't for the life of me understand why your politicians don't work together against the EU, instead of working against each other?? I have also noted that some brits seem to be suffering from megalomania? Sorry about that.

What do Danes think of Christiania in Copenhagen?

How annoyed do you get because because you are from "the Nordics" and ppl think that you all speak the same lang?

Similarly, if someone presented you with a Finnish article, as a Dane how much would you understand?
