To ask how much you spend a week on coffee?

How much do you spend a week on coffee and how many cups do you have a day?

Me- so I work a lot on district in different areas so I so spend quite a bit of money on take out coffee, generally I choose cheaper outlets such as Morrison's & McDonald's (approx £2 per cup) and usually once a every weekend myself and my partner treat ourselves to costa, Starbucks etc! (Approx £3 a cup) sometimes I do some paperwork in cafes etc during my working day which is worth the money as it allows me to relax but be productive at the same time!

Days I work in the office I use my own coffee jar so money is saved there!

I calculate I spend approximately £9/10 a week? (3 x £2 and 1 x £3) Excluding the price of my coffee jar! Eeek I have never actually realised how much I spend!

I usually don't drink more than 2 cups a day and try and keep it at 1 when i can!

Top up Starbucks card about £40 a month maybe more

MockneyReject · 20/02/2019 19:56

£10.00 p/m Tassimo subscription.

I'm a very recent convert to coffee. After the success of 'dry January', I swapped a bottle-of-wine-most-evenings habit, for the (1p) coffee machine.

I am, admittedly, disappointed that the pods are not as recyclable as the gumpf led me to believe. But, I am able to pop in and out of my home in between visits (I'm a home carer), so don't use disposable cups/lids/napkins from coffee shops, so that helps a bit with the eco-guilt.

The monthly delivery covers an English breakfast tea, first thing, a nice crema coffee just before heading out, a Columbian when I pop in mid to late morning, a large Americano when we get in from the school run and a decaf or got chocolate before bed. And is considerably cheaper than the booze!

Kez200 · 20/02/2019 20:54

Nothing out. I drink nespresso though at 30 to 40p a pod. So maybe £8 a week

I buy a nice instant which seems expensive at the outset but lasts for months - the last jar I bought was called L'or I think. I'm trying to limit how much I drink so it lasts a few months - at a guess it must be less than 50p a week.

anitagreen · 20/02/2019 22:56

I used to be a Starbucks gold member and spend around £35 a week in there I wasn't even working at the time I was a student being lazy and stupid

anitagreen · 20/02/2019 22:56

But that was coffee and lunch and god knows what else

YouBumder · 20/02/2019 23:01

I’m not sure, maybe £5, sometimes a bit more sometimes less. I’ve got a bean to cup machine at home and we probably just over a bag of beans (between 2 of us) a week.

I shouldn’t buy coffee out at all really but sometimes I just want someone to make kf for me so might buy a takeaway one once or twice a week.

YouBumder · 20/02/2019 23:07

*I never walk round with a coffee

Whats that all about!!*

Well, maybe wanting to buy a takeaway coffee from an outlet near your workplace to have when you get to your desk in the morning? It can’t be that difficult to understand surely.

Pinkbells · 21/02/2019 00:20

Game changer for me, I bought a Bioletti (sp) coffee maker and my husband bought me a milk frother. Best coffee I’ve had anywhere and cheaper in the long run than getting take outs!

greenpop21 · 21/02/2019 08:28

A jar of instant once every 3 weeks or so and my DD18 drinks most of that.
Occasional skinny flat white say once a month if meeting a friend.
I'm a tea belly and buy my own green tea for work and drink black with milk at home.

Thecrown3 · 21/02/2019 08:44

I spend £5 pw for my morning coffee before work from Tesco.
I will then spend £20 pm on coffee for mid morn break.i work outside though so in winter/spring it’s a chance to get warm for 15 mins.
I don’t drink or smoke though nor buy any alcohol in my weekly food shop, so horses for courses.
Some would rather have a bottle of wine a night , which by all accounts is about £7 for decentish wine.
Coffee or alcohol it’s a vice Grin and some people even have both the daredevils Grin

TheRealHousewife · 21/02/2019 09:50

I very rarely have coffee out.

However, we have a bean to cup machine and we spend about £30.00 a month/every six weeks on really nice freshly roasted beans. That’s for 2/3 adults to have 2/3 cups per day. [coffee] We love our coffee!

Gronk27 · 21/02/2019 10:18

I spend too much too although often work in coffee shops so the way I see it it's small price to pay to get out the house and for productivity! Meeting friends for coffee also costs me a fortune but again a 'luxury' I'm not prepared to give up! I do try to pick the cheaper options e.g. filter when not pregnant.

Margot33 · 21/02/2019 16:21

I used to be addicted to coffee and tea. I gave it up. I feel great and less tired without it.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 21/02/2019 16:36

I don’t buy any coffee out of my own money. I am a manager of a Nero store so I can drink as much as I like for free. I do however buy lots of beans every week to make into drinks and sell! Wink

toooldforthisgame · 21/02/2019 21:35

Only as a sociable thing to enjoy over a chat with a friend. Not very often.

Hellohappiness · 21/02/2019 21:38

Once a week max, usually £2.70.

bumblingbovine49 · 21/02/2019 21:56

I spend quite a lot . Probably buy a capiccino about 2-3 times week in work and sometimed at the weekend but I barely drink any alcohol so swings and roundabouts
I have about 5 ways to make coffee at home ( mocha, french press, aero press, filter and Tassimo pod machine). I.gi through phases of what I used but I like a.capuccino most days and I can't always be bothered to make one of those, even though I have a way of frothing the milk ( pod machine ones are not good)

I'd say about 15 a week

Offred2 · 21/02/2019 22:17

I probably buy a takeaway coffee 3 or 4 times a week, so usually over £10 I reckon.

And I have absolutely no guilt, handwringing etc over this. As an adult I choose what I spend my disposable income on, and coffee is one of those things!

Some people see others spending money on something they personally wouldn’t spend it on and thinks the other person is ‘wasting money’. Nope, they’ve just got different priorities and preferences. For example I bet some of the posters in this thread proudly stating they spend £0 on coffee may spend £50+ on a haircut or £25+ on alcohol on a night out. I personally wouldn’t do either of these - not because I’m morally better, more financially savvy etc, but simply as these are not my priorities/preferences.

Snog · 22/02/2019 21:49

OP you are spending over £500 a year on coffee. How much do you earn after tax?

AGHHHH · 23/02/2019 00:41

Why does it matter what she earns?

DarlingNikita · 23/02/2019 13:55

How patronising, Snog.

Chocolatecheeks111 · 23/02/2019 15:15

offred I earn enough I can afford to do this and I am still saving a good amount each month!

Not that I need to justify myself but j don't drink, smoke, buy clothes very often etc so overall I'm not too concerned about my spending!

Tagged the wrong person sorry I mean snog

OP posts:
Snog · 23/02/2019 22:59

Well for me £500 would be a big percentage of my annual take home pay and I'd feel like I was going to work to pay for my coffee habit!
