To ask how much you spend a week on coffee?

How much do you spend a week on coffee and how many cups do you have a day?

Me- so I work a lot on district in different areas so I so spend quite a bit of money on take out coffee, generally I choose cheaper outlets such as Morrison's & McDonald's (approx £2 per cup) and usually once a every weekend myself and my partner treat ourselves to costa, Starbucks etc! (Approx £3 a cup) sometimes I do some paperwork in cafes etc during my working day which is worth the money as it allows me to relax but be productive at the same time!

Days I work in the office I use my own coffee jar so money is saved there!

I calculate I spend approximately £9/10 a week? (3 x £2 and 1 x £3) Excluding the price of my coffee jar! Eeek I have never actually realised how much I spend!

I usually don't drink more than 2 cups a day and try and keep it at 1 when i can!

I buy L'or for at home when the big jar is on offer for £4 whether I need it or not. I live alone so the jar lasts around a month. Averages at £1 a week.

Coffee is free at work so there's no cost there & once a fortnight I'll go to Costa with a friend (we take turns paying) so that's about £6.00 a month.

Sometimes on a every Saturday on my child free weekend I'll mooch into town & have a large Starbucks caramel macchiato so that's around £4 a fortnight.

Total is about £4.50 a week. That's not bad actually... bearing in mind that's including coffee I'd drink at home... I'll feel less guilty about my large caramel macchiato now Grin

Until this year, around $30 a week. (3 cups a day at work, approx $2 per cup.) One of my many resolutions was to be a little more mindful with my spending, so I bought a Yeti thermal coffee cup and make coffee at home. I also brought a jar of instant to work with me, for refills. So I'm saving approx $120 a month (minus the cost of a jar of instant) which is over $1400 a year Shock)

Imagine what you could do with that £10/week.

I don't really understand this comment.

I spend more then OP. I go for a coffee with DH most days and I also grab a take out when I'm working. Sometimes DS and I will go and on my day off I sometimes meet a friend and have coffee.

Back to your comment, Why does OP need to imagine what she could do with that £10? Presumably OP can afford it and isn't prioritising coffee over the household bills, so if they choose to buy coffee with their money, that's ok.

£17.10 a week, 1 cup a day, 6 days a week.

The ubiquity of the £3 takeaway cup of coffee is a bizarre 21st century custom. People did actually manage to get through their days without Costabucks in the 80s & 90s.

In the 80's & 90's people still chose to buy things that others didn't. It's a shame you get put down for it nowadays.

Auntiepatricia · 19/02/2019 20:40

1 bag of ground coffee at £3.50 lasts me about 2-3 weeks I think. 1, sometimes 2 cups a day.

Notageek · 19/02/2019 20:44

OP , if you can’t get the thermos sorted then why not see which chains offer reduced prices for bringing your own mug or a mug for life ..even if you save 50p a time it will all add up.

minieggsqueen · 19/02/2019 20:46

I'm lucky if I have one cup out a week! It's expensive.

Usually 4 cups a week at home in the morning.

DramaAlpaca · 19/02/2019 20:51

My weekly cappuccino costs me €2.50. Just the one, and I look forward to it. I have a reusable mug which gets me 20c off the full price, & a loyalty card so I get a free one after every ten purchases. I drink tea the rest of the time, gallons of it.

Pascha · 19/02/2019 20:54

Coffee out only if I'm not paying which means I only drink it at home. £2.29 for ground coffee, lasts a month. Plus Azera when it's half price, tin a month at £2.49.

£2.29 + £2.49 = £4.78/month
£4.78 x £12 = £57.36/year
£57.36 / 52 weeks = £1.10/week.

BoomTish · 19/02/2019 20:55

About €25 a week. Sounds like an awful lot, but I live in a city where a takeaway cappuccino is about €4.50 Confused so even one a day adds up.

Strangely, I’m not a major coffee fan. I just like the routine of getting a nice hot drink first thing in the morning. It’s almost a wellbeing thing for me.

notsurewhatshappening · 19/02/2019 20:59

I don't drink takeaway coffee. Massive rip off. I have 2-3 Nespresso cups a day at home so about £1 a day. It's so much nicer than instant coffee. Very rarely I buy sandwiches but usually make lunch at home. People seem to spend a huge amount on coffees and lunches and not even enjoy them sometimes.

Theonewiththecat · 19/02/2019 21:04

About £15 per week on Tassimo coffee pods.
Plus a coffee out on a Saturday and Sunday, then if we go shopping DH and dd will sit in the cafe while I shop.
Maybe £25 on coffee a week for DH

soulrider · 19/02/2019 21:04

I'm not quite sure why takeaway coffee is the expense that people sneer about though tbh. There's plenty of things people choose to spend money on that others wouldn't. A coffee a day wouldn't add up to a night out drinking for many but that's not ridiculed in quite the same way.

Believability · 19/02/2019 21:09

I used to buy a coffee most days but realised I didn’t like most of them. I have a filter coffee machine and a really good flask and take that out with me. On the odd occasion I have a coffee out I have a collapsible cup in my bag. I imagine I don’t spend more than £3-4 a month on take away coffee and about £5 a month max on ground coffee for my machine

Biancadelrioisback · 19/02/2019 21:18

We get unlimited free coffee at work. Its great! I have a coffee at home every morning which is just a cheap Aldi coffee. So hardly anything really! My boss takes me out to Costa sometimes though

Toddlerteaplease · 19/02/2019 21:24

I have a Nero's latte everyday and at least one cup of tea. I used to have costa at work but have given that up and make my own.

soulrider · 19/02/2019 21:28

We have what looks like a fancy coffee machine at work, but the coffee is disgusting and I'm not particularly fussy. I can't figure out how it makes coffee so badly. I drink instant in preference to it.

This. You see it on here a lot and in other media where they say how much wonderful life would be if you saved the money you'd save the money you'd have spent on takeaway coffee. It's boring. We're a long time dead - people should enjoy spending their money how they wish!

For me it works out as roughly £15 having one cup a day.

OxanaVorontsova · 19/02/2019 21:38

No coffee out, but use capsules at home and consider this a good use of about £7 a week. I take a tin of good instant to work and that lasts me ages, but also have a mini cafetiere at work if I want/need better coffee. I love coffee!

Chesneyhawkes1 · 19/02/2019 21:40

I have at least one usually 2 a day from Costa or Starbucks. I work 4 days a week. So maybe £20-25 a week 😬

Celeriacacaca · 19/02/2019 21:44

£0. I love coffee but coffee doesn't love me, especially during menopause. I drink herb teas as caffeine in tea also sends me silly

HelloDarlin · 19/02/2019 21:44

Folk walking around with a take-out coffee cup remind me of over-grown toddlers with sippy cups. Especially when they are playing with their fave toy, the smartphone.

SleepingBooty · 19/02/2019 21:45

We invested in a bean to cup machine last year and I now prefer my coffee to take out coffee. I don't drink a lot but I have a double shot flat white first thing every morning and then a Nespresso at work (not as nice as home coffee) and generally drink tea for the rest of the day.
A bag of Lavazza beans (£9) lasts about 6 weeks.

EstrellaDamn · 19/02/2019 21:49

A few pence? It's free at work and I only have a few at home so a jar (of cheapo instant) lasts me aaaaages.
