To ask how much you spend a week on coffee?

How much do you spend a week on coffee and how many cups do you have a day?

Me- so I work a lot on district in different areas so I so spend quite a bit of money on take out coffee, generally I choose cheaper outlets such as Morrison's & McDonald's (approx £2 per cup) and usually once a every weekend myself and my partner treat ourselves to costa, Starbucks etc! (Approx £3 a cup) sometimes I do some paperwork in cafes etc during my working day which is worth the money as it allows me to relax but be productive at the same time!

Days I work in the office I use my own coffee jar so money is saved there!

I calculate I spend approximately £9/10 a week? (3 x £2 and 1 x £3) Excluding the price of my coffee jar! Eeek I have never actually realised how much I spend!

I usually don't drink more than 2 cups a day and try and keep it at 1 when i can!

Imagine what you could do with that £10/week.

Spend it on something she enjoys?

Like the odd coffee?

GottenGottenGotten · 19/02/2019 21:56

£0.00

I am of the firm belief that looking coffee is like liking smoking.

It doesn't happen the first time you try it. Some people are more dedicated to giving things a good go. I'm not. If I didn't like it the first time there's a good chance I'm not going to bother again!

Folk walking around with a take-out coffee cup remind me of over-grown toddlers with sippy cups.

Why? Do people walking about drinking juice/water from bottles make you think of babies? What a weird thing to think of when an adult is having a hot drink. It's clear you don't know much about toddlers, or indeed adults, if you draw any similarities.

I usually meet at least one person in a coffee shop during the week and then have maybe two or three pod coffees from home.
So maybe £6-£7 quid.

Handay · 19/02/2019 22:05

I have one of those wee stove top percolators that putters away in the morning while I'm making breakfasts and pack ups. Drinking coffee fresh from that is my indulgence and sets me up for the day ahead. I get a £4 bag of coffee every two weeks for it, and you would have to prise it out of my cold dead hands to stop me from having it. For the rest of the day, coffee is free at work although it's not as nice - one of those machines that you put a sachet into. I love my morning coffee.

unicorncupcake · 19/02/2019 22:05

I don’t drink coffee at home and work in a school where there’s free tea and coffee so all sorted there. I probably have one coffee a week in costa or similar at the weekend. So maybe £3 a week? However in half term I think I average one or two coffee meet ups per day with friends so probably £25/£30 on those weeks Grin

mineofuselessinformation · 19/02/2019 22:07

About £3.50 a week.
I have a tassimo machine at work and at home and use it for coffee about 3/4 times a day. I have a free coffee at break time (from coffee powder) when at work, but the rest of the time use my own.

Rtmhwales · 19/02/2019 22:08

I'm addicted to Starbucks. Probably spend £15-25 a week there. But it's my only vice and I can afford it, hate filtered coffee, and it makes me happy. So I'm fine with that.

TheFormerMrsPugwash · 19/02/2019 22:08

OP, I am a complete coffee addict. But it has dawned on me that I absolutely can't afford to buy coffees since my horrible expensive divorce, so I now take a flask to work. Sad and boring, but true. Probably not much less nice, either. I went to Nero with one of my teenagers today, and just moaned about how I could have bought two huge bags of Aldi coffee for the same price.

BillyAndTheSillies · 19/02/2019 22:10

When I commuted, it would be over and above £30 a week. Around £3 each morning plus other coffees at lunch, we had a sandwich bar around the corner which started my obsession with cold brew.
To add insult to injury, we had use of a free barista in our office.
Now I work in an industrial estate a good 10 minute walk from a coffee shop and drive in, I don't spend a penny.
We have Azeera at home which is about £5 a jar and probably get through one a month. Less now I'm pregnant.

VioletCharlotte · 19/02/2019 22:11

The amount I'm spending on coffee has crept up recently. I used to treat myself to a Costa once a week. Recently it's been 3/4 times a week, so approx £12 a week! I've resolved to knock this bad habit in the head and go back to once a week.

AliasGrape · 19/02/2019 22:14

Nothing, i don’t like it. We have some at home for DP but he doesn’t seem to be drinking it much himself lately.

I do meet friends ‘for a coffee’ occasionally and then get pissed off at having to spend £2.50 on a teabag and some hot water, so I’m trying to explore other hot drinks. I do like a hot chocolate, and the chai lattes that Costa etc have started doing.

HelloDarlin · 19/02/2019 22:15

No reason, hoge, just an observation. It may be the lids, actually! I live in a large city centre & just notice the things that folk do en masse.

ourkidmolly · 19/02/2019 22:22

£20 at least. Coffee everyday. Love it. No regrets at all. Have a house, car, holidays so my coffee habit isn't interfering with the acquisition of these items. Happily walk around with my coffee too. No shame.

BibbityBobbityEars · 19/02/2019 22:23

2 packets for home consumption £8-10
Typically 2/3 out and about £7.50-9

I love coffee.

BackforGood · 19/02/2019 22:29

Your workplace don't have free hot drinks?

No. I've never had free drinks at work in 38 years of different workplaces.

The reason people are commenting on the amount others are spending on coffee, is because that is what the OP asked. I'd have thought that obvious.
If the OP had asked 'how much do you spend on booze in a week, or on going to the pictures over a year or on gym membership per month, or some other thing, then people would comment on how much people send on those things. Why is that confusing people ??

Sophisticatedsarcasm · 19/02/2019 22:40

0, I don’t drink the stuff coz it’s rank 🤢

HundredMilesAnHour · 19/02/2019 22:48

I buy fresh beans @£9-10/bag every 3-4 weeks from a local independent roastery and use them to make myself a flat white (if it's a "leisurely start") or an espresso (if it's an early start) at home each morning.

I have coffee out a maximum of 2-3 times a week, always at local independents. I don't go to chains like Starbucks, Costa etc. So my 'out' spend is less than £10/week.

I would rather do without than drink bad coffee (hence avoiding the chains - and most definitely avoiding McD, Pret etc!)

When I used to work in Canary Wharf, meetings over coffee were a huge part of the job and I could easily spend £10-20/day on coffee for me and colleagues/clients (and not always very good coffee either!). My job was cut in December and one of the few benefits of being currently unemployed is that it's saving me a fortune on coffee (and travel). The silver lining in my cloud perhaps.

adaline · 19/02/2019 23:18

Nothing. We have free hot drinks at work.

Tablet.

Not the Fussells Milk variety.

IncrediblySadToo · 20/02/2019 00:13

It varies a lot depending on my work schedule. I’d say probably never less than £8, usually no more than £40. On average I’d say £20.

I enjoy buying a hot, fresh coffee ‍🤷🏻‍♀️

I don’t understand why people think it’s ’a waste of money’ to do something you enjoy? Especially why they think I should stop doing it, save the money and spend it on...’doing something i enjoy’ 🤔😁.

It’s like the fisherman & the businessman.

Wallabyone · 20/02/2019 00:14

About £10-20 depending on where I'm going and who I'm meeting. OP, try Azera for decent instant at home.

PickAChew · 20/02/2019 00:20

Average about a fiver. Mostly a bucket of nice (eg grumpy mule) coffee per day. Sometimes nicer (usually OCC). Odd cup from pret, every few months.

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 20/02/2019 00:21

We have a bean to cup machine at home, I’ll have at least two cups from there daily. I’ll also have at least one at work, if I buy it, it’s about 90p-£1.20 depending on size. I try to take milk and instant though because I buy and drink it out of boredom and often add in a kitkat so it all adds up!
