To ask how much you spend a week on coffee?

How much do you spend a week on coffee and how many cups do you have a day?

Me- so I work a lot on district in different areas so I so spend quite a bit of money on take out coffee, generally I choose cheaper outlets such as Morrison's & McDonald's (approx £2 per cup) and usually once a every weekend myself and my partner treat ourselves to costa, Starbucks etc! (Approx £3 a cup) sometimes I do some paperwork in cafes etc during my working day which is worth the money as it allows me to relax but be productive at the same time!

Days I work in the office I use my own coffee jar so money is saved there!

I calculate I spend approximately £9/10 a week? (3 x £2 and 1 x £3) Excluding the price of my coffee jar! Eeek I have never actually realised how much I spend!

I usually don't drink more than 2 cups a day and try and keep it at 1 when i can!

About £15 per week on Tassimo coffee pods.

How much? You could have properly nice filter coffee every day for half that.

smellsofelderberries · 20/02/2019 00:52

Probably about £20 a week? DH probably spends about £15 too. I get a take away coffee most days (plus have some at home too). Bloody love it. I'm a SAHM at the moment and we have cut expenses elsewhere due to having young kids. We don't go out for dinner anymore, we used to regularly spend £150 a weekend on dinner/drinks/going out. Now a fancy evening for us is a meal deal and an iTunes film rental 😂

People did actually manage to get through their days without Costabucks in the 80s & 90s.

Well, of course nobody needs it to survive, it's a choice people are making. People got by without a lot of things we do today...

Indeed - we mostly drank Diamond White. So superior.

Chottie · 20/02/2019 05:27

I buy a takeaway coffee Mon-Fri work days.

Sitting in a coffee shop for 10 mins everyday is my little oasis of calm away from work.

It costs me about £12.50 a week. I do not begrudge one penny I pay. :)

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 20/02/2019 08:32

£1.70 in an independent tea shop after Pilates once a week.
£1.99 on Aldi coffee beans.

SherlockSays · 20/02/2019 08:37

My workplace also has free hot drinks.. but it's no Starbucks is it? Very rare I'll have a hot drink from work.

Meet0nTheledge · 20/02/2019 09:06

I drink mostly tea at work - for coffee we have a choice of Tassimo or instant (Azeerra), neither are great options, but I'll have a cup of Azeerra occasionally. Don't like the Tassimo at all though.

fussychica · 20/02/2019 09:11

If we go to another town for shopping/day out we would have one but I only had my first paid for coffee in our town a week or so ago calling in on our way back from a massive countryside walk. Otherwise it's free from Waitrose for me, if I remember to take my cup.

Omgineedanamechange · 20/02/2019 09:14

Nothing, zero, zip, zilch. Coporation pop (water) all the way for me. or wine but that’s a whole other thread

Adversecamber22 · 20/02/2019 09:21

In my last two workplaces I had free coffee and tea. Now I’m not working I meet a friend for lunch every week so will have one with lunch. Actually walking about with one in the street hardly ever.

At home I have a bean to cup machine, DH orders the beans they cost £7 a bag.

When out for countryside and canalside walks I take a flask.

Snog · 20/02/2019 09:21

I work from home so just drink a couple of cups of cafetière coffee in the morning.

Occasional coffee out when meeting up with a friend but I then I really do have a weakness for Costa coolers on a hot day!

dameofdilemma · 20/02/2019 09:58

If Costa/Pret/Starbucks/Nero were the only coffee option I'd never buy any. They don't even taste like coffee. People! Wake up and smell the (bad) coffee!

But we're lucky to have lots of local, non chain coffee shops that do really, really good coffee. Happy to look like a toddler walking around with my coffee cup.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 20/02/2019 10:04

Have a dolce gusto machine at home so if im not out its probably 3 of those

Im quite often out with friends probably an average of 4 times a week in term time and have 1/2 coffees when out

5 years or so ago i didn't even drink coffee!!

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 20/02/2019 10:08

Around a pound! Dh drinks it,A jar lasts around a month

MrsJBaptiste · 20/02/2019 10:09

OP I wouldn't worry about your coffee expense, it seems a lot if the posts in here aren't typical. Not saying people are lying but coffee shops wouldn't be such big business if the responses in here were to go by.

I probably have 3 nice coffees every couple of weeks (Starbucks/Costa/McDonald's) but people at work have at least 2 or 3 a day (Starbucks) so must spend around £50 a week!

Ironfloor269 · 20/02/2019 10:11

£0 on coffee out.

About £1 a week on a ground coffee packet from Aldi. I drink about 2 cups a day, made in a cafetier at home.

I think coffee from cafes is a huge rip off. It tastes no better than home made coffee. If I'm going out, I carry a flask with home made coffee.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 20/02/2019 10:13

I never walk round with a coffee

Whats that all about!!

theothermum · 20/02/2019 10:16

I live in mainland Europe where Starbucks is €5 and that's what I get three times a week so €15.
Plus workplace coffee €1,5 once a week
Plus coffeecart coffee €2.80 once a week

So I guess €20/ week?

reallybadidea · 20/02/2019 10:19

I can't work out what I find most confusing, the sneeriness about the 'quality' of Costa and Starbucks or about takeaway coffees in general. Shock, horror people have different tastes to you, is that really so hard to understand?

To answer the OP's question: I expect I drink 1 or 2 takeaway coffees a week, depending on my work schedule. Tea OTOH is a 6 cup a day habit. Fortunately free at work.

TheFaerieQueene · 20/02/2019 10:21

£0

I can’t drink the ‘coffee ‘ in chain shops as it is a vile tasting attempt at coffee.

I drink my coffee black and have a specific fair trade brand at home that I buy as beans and grind it as I need it.

The coffee industry is exploitative so I will only buy ethically.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 20/02/2019 10:21

Actually thats a lie

I obviously walk from the coffee shop to work with the coffee in my hand Grin

Auntiepatricia · 20/02/2019 10:22

I love walking around with a coffee! I’ve 4 small kids so I’m what world can I actually sit in a cafe with it! So it’s a massive treat to have a big Starbucks in my hand as I get my kids to where we need to be.

HowlsMovingBungalow · 20/02/2019 10:24

£0 - can't stand coffee.

I only drink water and tea ( few cups a day - proper tea leaves type ).

Also don't get the need to be drinking hot drinks whilst out and about.

Slowknitter · 20/02/2019 10:28

£0. I take my own. I won't drink instant though - I think it's revolting. I buy ground coffee and use a cafétière.
