I know mistakes happen, but surely to god cashiers in shops are used to seeing security tags on items!

No, it's just a mistake, it happens.

WellErrr · 09/02/2019 12:15

No, I’d just think ‘shit happens, we all make mistakes.’

Wouldn’t enter my head to formally complain about them.

Meet0nTheledge · 09/02/2019 12:16

No of course not, it's a mistake and no harm done.

ErictheGuineaPig · 09/02/2019 12:16

No. Its just a mistake and no harm was done.

CinnabarRed · 09/02/2019 12:16

Wouldn’t even cross my mind to complain.

CrazyOldBagLady · 09/02/2019 12:17

It's just a minor mistake, no I wouldn't complain. Imagine how awful your job would be if you were picked up on every tiny little thing constantly.

EduCated · 09/02/2019 12:18

No, I wouldn’t. It’s nothing more than a minor inconvenience really, is it?

Seniorschoolmum · 09/02/2019 12:19

No. Sometimes there are two tags on an item, cashier removes one and doesn’t see the other.
It’s a mistake, no big deal. Just show the receipt and enjoy being in the right.

Trills · 09/02/2019 12:20

I'd be glad the beeper HAD gone off and the security guard had made me check my bag, TBH.

The last time someone forgot to take the tag off, I left a busy shop and either the beeper did not go off or I didn't notice it (supermarket, two sets of double doors, lots of people going in and out).
It was a pain to have to find the receipt and go back on a different day, after discovering that the tag was still on.There was a good chance that I might have chucked the supermarket receipt before noticing that the tag was still there.

Debruary · 09/02/2019 12:20

No.

glamorousgrandmother · 09/02/2019 12:21

It's happened to me a couple of times, no big deal. Once I got out of a shop OK but set the alarm off going into another one.

NeverTwerkNaked · 09/02/2019 12:22

No, it’s a minor inconvenience, not worth complaining about

MamaLovesMango · 09/02/2019 12:22

Why didn’t YOU know there was a security tag and why didn’t YOU ask ask them to take it off? Surely you knew you’d picked up clothes/alcohol/meat/DVD?

KanielOutis · 09/02/2019 12:23

It happened to me to a pair of trainers I bought DD for Christmas. The tag went through the lace hole. I didn't notice until months later when I went to wrap them.

DameSquashalot · 09/02/2019 12:25

What Trills said

bibbitybobbityyhat · 09/02/2019 12:27

Of course not! It's a minor error. I'd be worried about myself if I got that worked up over something so trivial.

silkpyjamasallday · 09/02/2019 12:28

Well you didn't notice the tag was still on when you put it in your bag did you? Mistakes are made, but that's really really not worthy of a complaint.

MitziK · 09/02/2019 12:30

Better than only finding out when you go into another shop and set off their security alarm.

Shit happens. I find it happens frequently in Boots, so much so, I'm prepared to halt in my tracks and wait for the lovely security guard to come over and sort it out. Admittedly, that also means I never shop in there when I'm in a hurry, but it's hardly deliberate that they've either forgotten or the machine that cancels the sticky tags hasn't worked.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 09/02/2019 12:32

Yes, and I've had the thing with the tag left in which is more annoying. It was a pair of shorts for one of the children which I'd bought in a sale about 9 months in advance so of course I didn't have the receipt. Luckily the lady at customer services in my local Sainsburys was a calm and sensible sort who made an informed guess that I wasn't looking to cheat a giant supermarkwt out of less than £5 for laughs and just took the tag off for me. No drama.

pilates · 09/02/2019 12:34

No

RainbowInACloud · 09/02/2019 12:34

Of course not. How ridiculous.

Lauren83 · 09/02/2019 12:34

No it's a mistake, and people who saw it happen will also know it was a mistake

Bryjam · 09/02/2019 12:35

Complain? Only if you are an absolute arsehole of a human being that enjoys making misery, for both yourself and other people.

Never heard of a mistake?

Aridane · 09/02/2019 12:37

No - why would I complain?

Andallwaswell · 09/02/2019 12:40

The cashier will have probably already been told off. When I was a teenager I worked at sports direct and if you missed 2 in a shift you got a disciplinary!
