I know mistakes happen, but surely to god cashiers in shops are used to seeing security tags on items!

Nope I wouldn't complain, shit happens!

HoldMeCloserTonyDanza · 09/02/2019 12:40

No but I would expect all the employees to treat me politely at all times and to apologise profusely when it became clear it was a cashier’s mistake.

To be fair the handful of times it has happened it has always been like that.

bellasb · 09/02/2019 12:42

Nope cos I'm not a twat

surferjet · 09/02/2019 12:43

It’s not my job to check the cashier is doing her job!
I was busy packing my bags and didn’t notice, probably because I expected the tag to be removed.

I complained.

Well then, YWBU. And mean.

Charley50 · 09/02/2019 12:46

No it's just a mistake.

Fluffyears · 09/02/2019 12:46

You complained? You know that poor cashier will be in trouble for something that got fixed before you even got off the premises and was. Simple mistake. You’re an arsehole!

RosieCockle · 09/02/2019 12:49

Get over yourself.

mmmm25 · 09/02/2019 12:49

I dunno about this because it can be very embarrassing for the customer when this opens. If they were apologetic I'd be ok but not if they were dismissive, I'd complain then.

mmmm25 · 09/02/2019 12:49

*happens

Bryjam · 09/02/2019 12:49

I complained

Did it make you feel good Hmm

surferjet · 09/02/2019 12:49

I had left the shop and was walking to my car! People saw it happening, maybe someone I know? I was made to produce my receipt ( which I couldn’t find for a few minutes ) and then had to go back to the shop to have the tag removed.
It was extremely embarrassing.

I would not look forward to a world under your rule Surferjet.

seven201 · 09/02/2019 12:51

I think you're being ridiculous. It's a mistake. Have you never made a mistake?

I've twice got home and found a tag not removed. Also once went into a shop and set their alarm off as the tag hadn't been taken off in previous shop. Had my bag searched etc. It's pretty standard.

Christ there’s some dickheads about.

mmmm25 · 09/02/2019 12:53

In that situation you've just described in the update, I'd be really embarrassed and I think I'd have complained too.
In my student days something similar happened and a plain clothes store detective clapped me on the shoulder and frog-marched me to the till.
I felt like a thief but was too shocked/timid to say anything. No way I'd put up with that now.

Bryjam · 09/02/2019 12:54

Get a grip.

OnTheHop · 09/02/2019 12:55

Yes, inconvenient, but really....

And if I saw this happen I would assume ‘oh, forgotten tag removal ‘ not ‘OP is a thief ‘.

What do you want a complaint to achieve? The shop know now that they made a mistake. Why spend the time?

SmellsLikeAdultSpirit · 09/02/2019 12:57

I wouldn't keep walking if I set the bleep off
If security didn't come to me I'd go back to the cashier

AnyFucker · 09/02/2019 12:57

Well, you are a bit high maintenance aren't you ?

SparklyMagpie · 09/02/2019 12:58

😂😂😂 it was embarrassing! Christ

PolarBearDisguisedAsAPenguin · 09/02/2019 13:01

You must have a very easy life @surferjet if this has caused you such embarrassment and cause to complain.

themoomoo · 09/02/2019 13:01

what a nasty mean thing to do. Feel proud of yourself?

Otterseatpuffinsdontthey · 09/02/2019 13:02

May I ask - was that today? Also, what was the tagged item?
