My wife is dying

My beautiful, wonderful wife is only 33 and I'm sitting next to her bed in the hospice tonight watching her die. She's had cancer for a long time and I knew this was coming, but it's so very hard to watch.

I keep thinking of you two as well, and your little boy. I hope when my time comes I am as deeply loved, and love as deeply. I imagine that will be the shining light I would hold onto. This is the only important thing in life, isn't it? I hope you can feel the world reaching out to lend you some strength to get you through this. x

We're still here. It's been a hard night. She became very agitated earlier and was crying out - she was asking why I wasn't helping her. That was the hardest thing that's ever happened to me. She's been given some more drugs now, and has slept peacefully for the past few hours. I'm holding her hand and I keep telling her I love her.

Stories like this tear me apart emotionally. I am so, so sorry. Life is so fucking unfair sometimes. Tell her everything from the day you met, how you felt, everything relevant to modern day, about her little boy. I will be thinking of you. Why do people have to pass like this, why why why? I fell asleep beside her for a while earlier. I don't think I've ever felt this tired and drained. Thank you all for being here.

I am sorry your beautiful wife became distressed earlier, my dear Mum spent her final days writhing in pain, I know how hard it is to watch.
I hope that you are both snuggled peacefully together now. You are very much in my thoughts.

Cancer is an absolute arse of an illness I have lost friends at a similar age and the unfairness is so difficult to comprehend.
