I have bought the beautiful notebook.
I have fineliners
I have searched Pinterest.

I have many ideas for things I want to track etc but

I am scared to start.

I am not artistic.
It is the most expensive notebook I have ever bought and I really don't want to spoil it Blush

I’ve never heard of this and love the idea!

HumourlessFeminist · 31/12/2018 10:55

My journal is arriving TODAY 😬!

Iggi999 · 31/12/2018 15:15

Just got a new pen holder for mine today - a sort of elastic strap to go over the cover. An also get ones that stick in but I wanted two pens this year

Rkay2 · 31/12/2018 15:20

I read this. Watched some videos. Ordered two notebooks.
I’ve got lots of pens - the teacher in me loves stationary!
My journals arrived. Waiting for baby to sleep for longer than 10 minutes! Can’t wait!

Rkay2 · 31/12/2018 15:28

There’s also quite a few 1917 on amazon for 12.99

DerelictWreck · 31/12/2018 15:56

Bujo wanker here at your service (saluts)

I only started a couple of months ago. I grabbed a proper branded bujo and just dived right in. Also not at all artistic but use if for both work and personal, so it's a real mix of straightforward scheduling and artyfarty spreads.

Wont bother with a proper bujo in future, will probs go for a lechturn or a dotted notebook off of amazon, but it was useful for a first as it has the keycodes etc in.

playinthedarkness · 31/12/2018 16:36

I have a couple of dotted books and have toyed with different ideas in a scribble book for a couple of months but haven't been consistent or dared to write/ start nice bookBlush

HawkeyeInConfusion · 31/12/2018 17:46

You have tempted me.

A bujo is winging its way to me in the post. I only went for a cheapo one though so I don't agonize over starting it.

Cheesymonster · 31/12/2018 17:49

moggle I could have written your post word for word! I might be tempted to start again if I can find a really cheap notebook.

Cheesymonster · 31/12/2018 17:51

Hawkeye which one did you get?

soloula · 31/12/2018 19:01

Wee tip for newbies to bullet journals...have a wee page (I usually do it at the back of my book so it's a bit out the way) for testing pens. Some books have thinner paper than others and some pens are worse than others for bleeding through so it's nice to test them somewhere discrete so you don't waste all your hard work on your spreads. Nothing worse than having a lovely page all written up/drawn out then turning the page and realising the one behind is a mess.

BigPinkOrchid · 31/12/2018 19:32

I started one about 8 months ago. Not remotely arty, just very utilitarian. I tried a few different layouts but decided I really wanted the whole year calendar in there, rather than doing it as I went along. So with the current layout, I sat down for a few hours and essentially created a normal diary. So my 2-page spread has a week-to-view diary on one side, divided into two columns (one for me, one for my DS), then on the other page there's a to-do-list where I write everything that needs to get done, a meal plan for the week, and small notes section. I then have a daily log section at the end of the diary section where I put specific to-dos for that day. I also have sections on budgetting/Christmas/holidays etc. which are just lists/notes. The index at the front makes this really easy. Just start at a random page, and as long as you put the page number in the index, it's easy to find.

I like a conventional diary, but I'm also a prolific list & note maker and can't find a diary that has enough notes pages. I've tried different notebooks for different things, but really I want everything in one notebook, so for me it was worth spending a few hours when I got a new journal to create a normal diary within it.

OneStepMoreFun · 31/12/2018 19:50

Rufus those books are gorgeous. I saw that a suddenly 'got' the point of bullet journals. What a lovely record for what you've read. Wish I could draw well enough to do that.

HumourlessFeminist · 31/12/2018 20:34

I've started my 1st (at home) bullet journal. I'm pleased with some pages, and less pleased with others, but most of all I'm pleasantly surprised that an indexed notebook is likely to help me to become so much more organised.

I'm not sure I'll need dailies for my at home bullet journal - does anyone else not use dailies?

Waspnest · 31/12/2018 20:54

Yay a Bujo thread! I've always used a cheap LIDL squared paper A5 notebook and it works fine. I allow about 6 pages for an index (very useful for lists which get lost amongst everything else), always number the pages and use the general bullet point symbols but apart from that I tend to make it up as I go along. I think you work out what works best for you over time. Mine is definitely not pretty, once a list/month etc. is completed I cross it out.

Waspnest · 31/12/2018 20:58

I only use a daily list if I have to get a whole load of things done in one day but others probably use it to track water intake/exercise etc.

HawkeyeInConfusion · 31/12/2018 21:34

I got this Cheesymonster. I figure I can always decorate the cover should I get the urge.

2019Reasons · 31/12/2018 21:56

I’ve read this thread and then got stuck down a rabbit hole of ‘how to start a bulllet journal’ vids. Totally sucked in!

Journal & pens arriving on the 3rd Grin

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 31/12/2018 22:10

I got sucked into thinking about work today and realised I kind of bujo my work week already but it tends to end up in whatever notebook or scrap of paper is to hand and a lot of bits of spreadsheets. So I spent forever wandering around online last night and have found a paper / online hybrid. It seems to be a coated paper notebook that can be wiped clean so I don't have to stress about mistakes and there's an app for optical character recognition and it'll email or update pages to my cloud system for me. I'm dying to try it!

MawkishTwaddle · 31/12/2018 22:27

All my stuff turned up today.

No idea. None.

But so excited!

brizzledrizzle · 31/12/2018 22:39

My A6 journal plopped through the letterbox tonight, now what?!
I couldnt sleep and so ordered one at silly oclock last night.

lotusbell · 31/12/2018 23:00

I have a beautiful Leuchhturm waiting to be used but it's lined, not dotted. So I bought a new one from Cult Pens, think it'll be too small. So now I'm torn between the a5 dotted Rhodia or the dotted a5 Leuchhturm. Can you tell I'm after wanker status? Grin first to meet, too GrinGrin I've not yet decided on my layout etc. I may practice in one of my smaller notebooks first.

lotusbell · 31/12/2018 23:03

First time, that should say

Strawbberrypineapple · 31/12/2018 23:11

This is all new to me( but I like new things!) SO let me get this right- its a planner, a reminder of things to do and dates and maybe of things youve done ( like books youve read so you know which ones youve read etc) is that right? A bit like a filo fax but more flexible and more creative? Still dont get the wanker part thou....ConfusedGrin

Strawbberrypineapple · 31/12/2018 23:21

Well have just found a website called Little Coffee Fox and so now I know but does it help any of you be mega organised or is it just a fun thing?
