What did you give birth in?

I'm trying to get my hospital bag ready and have now packed 2 nighties and a set of pjs.

What did you give birth in? Was it just a bra or anything else? I'm trying to be as prepared as possible!

A navy nightdress

LampShadeHeid · 12/12/2018 23:53

I was wearing a hospital gown. I had packed nighties which I planned to wear, but a gown was comfy and meant I didn’t ruin my own clothes.

Camsie30 · 12/12/2018 23:53

I was mostly in the birthing pool so just a crop top

1.an old. T shirt of dh's because nothing of mine fitted

2 maternity leggi gs and a. T-shirt. Leggi gs sadly trashed by a precipitate birth.

Jent13c · 12/12/2018 23:57

I was induced, started off in leggings and a tshirt but when I moved through to labour ward they made me put a hospital gown on. I seem to remember having a sports bra on at some point as I remember throwing it on the floor.

meow1989 · 13/12/2018 00:03

A hospital gown (ended up with emcs) , but I fully intended to be naked If I felt like it! I don't actually think I packed a birthing outfit though I did have two nighties and a strap top for if I was in the pool.

DrWhy · 13/12/2018 00:04

First time - in the pool - nothing at all, second time the dress and cardigan I arrived in, just about had time to take underwear off and kneel on the bed. The unused black nighties are being passed to a pregnant friend!

Titsywoo · 13/12/2018 00:04

I wore the same thing for both my labours. It was a bright pink spaghetti strap nightie that said something tacky about giving birth on it.

HerdofAntilop · 13/12/2018 00:07

At the end, the nip Grin. Couldn't stand the feel of my clothes so apologised to the Doula and threw them all on the floor. But the rest of the time leggings and a long nightie/t-shirt so I could take the leggings off and still maintain my dignity. Well, try to.

CleverWittyUsername · 13/12/2018 00:10

Nude for first, tankini top for second

SleepingBooty · 13/12/2018 00:10
  1. A hospital gown as I'd vomited over the 2 old tshirts I'd brought. Too much G&A
  1. A long stretchy vest in the birth pool.
MilkyCuppa · 13/12/2018 00:13

I went to hospital in DH’s huge T-shirt and jogging bottoms, then had to change into a hospital gown for EMCS.

Heyjudas · 13/12/2018 00:14

Hospital gown as c section.

Kerantli · 13/12/2018 00:14

First time a hospital gown, second time just a maternity bra.
If I ever have a 3rd I might "graduate" to nothing at all Grin

PennyMordauntsLadyBrain · 13/12/2018 00:21

A beige maternity nightie from Primark.

I haemorrhaged but managed to keep the nightie blood free Grin - intending to give it a second outing in March for the birth of dc2.

BoswellsBollocks · 13/12/2018 00:24

I wore the same strappy nightie for both of mine too Titsywoo

Mine was a lilac one with flowers on the front. Super soft, stretchy and comfy.

ChocolateTearDrops · 13/12/2018 00:25

A pair of tights. Oh no, wait, that was Daphne in Neighbours 😜

A blue nightshirt which my now ex took home and hid in a cupboard because he didn't know what to do with it. Confused fuck knows what he thought the shiny machine with the round door was for in the kitchen!

BettyBigBollocks · 13/12/2018 00:26

Absolutely nothing, I wasn’t in hospital long before the pushing started and I suddenly couldn’t stand the feel of my clothes so just whipped them all off in time to push him out! I had bought pretty nursing nighties to wear, fuck knows why, they’d be totally ruined if I had!

Choccywoccyhooha · 13/12/2018 00:26
  1. A t shirt
  2. PJ top
  3. A strapless cotton summer dress
thighofrelief · 13/12/2018 00:26
  1. Hospital gown
  1. Hospital gown and bra

I'm a puker though.

CrazyOldBagLady · 13/12/2018 00:27

A night shirt with buttons down the front for breastfeeding

ErrolTheDragon · 13/12/2018 00:28

An old oversized T shirt - one I wouldn't have minded about if I'd had to bin it - and a pair of Totes socks (the ones with grippy bottoms).

ReggieKrayDoYouKnowMyName · 13/12/2018 00:33

With DD1 I had a nightie and sports bra on, but when shit got real and I went through transition I insisted- loudly and forcefully- that all my clothes had to go. So I was naked for her birth!

With DD2 I was induced and it didn’t work properly and there was talk about a c section, so they had me in a hospital gown. In the end she came suddenly and quickly though and once again, I threw off my clothes so that I could get on with pushing. Basically, I don’t seem to be able to do the final bit in clothes for some reason.

Pavlova31 · 13/12/2018 00:35

Hospital gown. Comfy and kept my brought in nightwear clean.

A580Hojas · 13/12/2018 00:37

Next maternity dress (had crash c-section at 3cm dilated, no time for changing clothes).
