I'm trying to get my hospital bag ready and have now packed 2 nighties and a set of pjs.

What did you give birth in? Was it just a bra or anything else? I'm trying to be as prepared as possible!

A lot of pain and an old oversized nightie

SleightOfMind · 13/12/2018 22:00

DHs or (lateSad) DF’s old work shirts.

Buttons for feeding, look decent from the waist up for hospital visitors and lovely soft cotton with the smell of home.

Hospital gowns for all three. Nothing else. Maternity wards are often heated to tropical temperatures.

Birthday suit... I was so hot and couldn't bear having any clothes touching my skin.

tiddlyipom · 13/12/2018 22:09

No1 a hospital gown, no2 a nightie, no3 a beautiful £££ silk pleated dress when he came out really quickly and no time for me to get changed, it was unsalvagableSad

Naked. Both times. I am not the naked sort, but I had pool births and was not at all bothered at the time. It's like my brain switched over - normally I'm very much a clothed person but in the latter stages of labour, they seemed incomprehensible.

Dandybelle · 13/12/2018 22:26

DD1- totally naked couldn't stand clothes

DD2- a bikini top in the pool

Nightie

My hospital bag got left in the car as my DH helped me in and and then didn’t end up going back to get it. I ended up wearing the baggy T-shirt I’d been wearing anyway and then towards the end nothing at all. I knew I wanted to do skin to skin and it just felt natural to take it off. I’m usually a massive prude!

I had a night dress/shirt thing. I thought it would be very practical. Quite a few years ago now but it was so ideal and very comfy.
