TV programmes you MUST switch off

What is it for you? What TV programmes can you not stand at all - to the point that you have to change the channel or leave the room?

For me it’s Impractical Jokers and Homes Under the Hammer. For entirely different reasons - Impractical Jokers because it irritates me to the point that I am just angry, and Homes Under the Hammer because it reminds me of when DH was ill as it was on every time we were in the hospital for bad news and now I just can’t watch it.

I’m glad so many people can’t stand Mrs Browns Boys. You couldn’t pay me to watch it. I feel embarrassed for the actors when I catch a bit of it. Same for Miranda.

I literally can’t watch property shows either. As a broke millennial who’ll likely be renting forever, it drives me mad seeing how miserable and ungrateful people are! You’re buying a house in Spain, cheer the fuck up!

SinisterBumFacedCat · 27/11/2018 19:00

Location Location Location Location Location and all the other property programs which fast becoming irrelevant as most people can't afford to buy homes anymore.

I really like Impractical Jokers, it makes me cry laughing.

Anything with Michael McIntyre in.

I stick with EE as watched from day one! It is depressing though. I'm on the thread on here where we can whinge about it! ( sometimes praise too , it can be good)
Same with X factor but that has had its day really.

LoniceraJaponica · 27/11/2018 19:00

I love Scandinavian crime dramas. They have influenced our crime dramas and we have upped our game now. I also enjoy Homes Under the Hammer.

The80sweregreat · 27/11/2018 19:02

They are miserable on these home buying shows ! The ones abroad are worse ; they want a mansion for 100,000. Then look disappointed when it's a much more expensive flat with a small balcony!
Just go away !

saganorenscarandcoat · 27/11/2018 19:02

Jeremy Kyle
East Enders
Loose Women
This Morning
Celebrity Juice

DuchessofManchester · 27/11/2018 19:17

Any type of reality/ talent show
One born every minute...accidently turned over once during a particularly gory moment. Told dh never to come near me again Grin

PrincessScarlett · 27/11/2018 19:17

Mrs Brown's Boys is the worst thing I have seen in all of my many years on this planet. I only have to hear the programme announcer say it's on next and I'm on edge and grabbing for the remote.

Boobahs · 27/11/2018 19:20

The Simpsons.
Spongebob Squarepants.

Arrrrrgggh!

The80sweregreat · 27/11/2018 19:20

There was a mention on the radio of 'upcoming programmes for xmas' and Mrs brown was on the list! I just groaned. Who watches this?
There was a quiz thing with Len good man in the summer that was dire.

ForalltheSaints · 27/11/2018 19:25

Mrs Browns Boys. An awful throwback to the worst 70s sitcoms.

thecatsleftpaw · 27/11/2018 20:12

Sunday Brunch on Channel 4.

I hate this programme with what I realise is a very over the top reaction Grin

CurlyhairedAssassin · 27/11/2018 20:14

My mum and dad like Mrs Brown’s boys. So do the teenage boys at work. Says a lot about some of my parenrs’ generation!

Holly Willoughby is extremely stiff in her body language, I feel awkward watching her. She barely moves. Makes me tense to watch her, she doesn’t seem relaxed.

DH and I purposefully watch Homes under the hammer to see what the embarrassingly uncreative link is for the choice of music for particular properties. Eg if it’s an ex post office or something the music would be “Return to Sender” etc etc I never noticed this till DH pointed it out to me and now we both watch it so that we can groan and eye roll. I always picture a 17year old work experience lad in the back office coming up with these ideas and being really pleased with himself.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 27/11/2018 20:16

Ah you can’t diss Spongebob today. The guy who created it has just died. It still makes my kids laugh, and they REALLY used to laugh at it when they were about 8 or 9.

SirNilsOlav · 27/11/2018 20:25

Yess Howls and MrsJay I've found my people! I cannot stand Gloria hunniford or Angela Rippon and everyone I know seems to love them! So glad I'm not the only one. Grin

QueenofallIsee · 27/11/2018 20:40

I was all ready to scroll by all ' well I don't feel that strongly about any TV show really, smug smug smug' then I stopped in remembered horror.
I had partly blocked out the awfulness that was 'Girls'. On paper I should have loved it, in reality I wanted to scratch off my own skin rather than here ANY OF THEM talk. Ever. Ever

VerbeenaBeeks · 27/11/2018 21:31

Jeremy Kyle show - as soon as it starts telly gets switched off or over! Can't stand it. Screeching and fighting and bleh.

Anything like TOWIE or the Only Way Is Essex.

VerbeenaBeeks · 27/11/2018 21:32

I hate hate hate Friends.

Noooooooo! I LOVE Friends, still cracks me up.

Nothisispatrick · 27/11/2018 21:35

Oh I love spongebob, didn’t know the creator had died

Meet0nTheIedge · 27/11/2018 21:49

Friends is on my list too, absolutely awful programme.

Boobahs · 27/11/2018 22:19

@CurlyhairedAssassin I just saw this on the news! Very sorry for his death, but still can't stand the programme! Confused

Kernowgal · 27/11/2018 22:25

I bloody love Mrs Brown's Boys but I get that it's not for everyone.

However, the following will have me reaching for the remote at lightspeed:

The One Show
EastEnders
Any 'talent' show
Any scripted reality show

I also can't bear the likes of Mock The Week and similar, which are essentially willy-waving competitions for the [mostly male and deeply insecure] contestants and really not very funny. I can't bear 'knowing' comedy based on intellectual snobbery.

sophisticatedsarcasm · 27/11/2018 22:39

Holly oaks
Used to be gordie shore for a long time but have to say I kinda like it now 😂😂
Coronation street
Songs of praise
The one show
The only way is Essex
Made in Chelsea
Used to love big brother, last proper one I watched was when Pete won in 2007. Hate it now 😩

nevermorelenore · 27/11/2018 22:42

The ones abroad are worse ; they want a mansion for 100,000. Then look disappointed when it's a much more expensive flat with a small balcony!

The Wanted Down Under ones are especially annoying. They think they’re going to be able to afford a big house in Australia with a pool. In reality, their property market is just as bad as ours, and many houses are pokey new builds. I can’t stand that show because the people are so idiotic and have done zero research.
