TV programmes you MUST switch off

What is it for you? What TV programmes can you not stand at all - to the point that you have to change the channel or leave the room?

For me it’s Impractical Jokers and Homes Under the Hammer. For entirely different reasons - Impractical Jokers because it irritates me to the point that I am just angry, and Homes Under the Hammer because it reminds me of when DH was ill as it was on every time we were in the hospital for bad news and now I just can’t watch it.

PawmeeParksDept, really? about geordie shore contract how come?

MrsJayy · 27/11/2018 13:02

Celebrity juice is repulsive I don't understand what they are laughing at Leigh Francis/Keith Lemon is the itv darling Idon't gettit !

CheeseTheDay · 27/11/2018 13:04

Anything with Tess Daly presenting - I'm convinced she has a secret dossier on BBC bosses, it's the only explanation as to why she keeps getting work.

All soaps.

The X-Factor - put it out of its misery.

I'm A Celebrity...

In fact anything with Ant & Dec, I don't understand the love they get, I find them tedious.

Any reality show.

I quite like gash in the attic though

PawneeParksDept · 27/11/2018 13:06

@staydazzling

It's along the lines of :

a) you must be "available for sex" and therefore unattached

b) you will receive x amount of money for doing the show

c) when in the bars, producers approach men and ask them to sign contracts to say they are willing to appear

d) girls are then told these are the guys you can choose from

How is this not prostitution ?

GreenDinosaur · 27/11/2018 13:16

I've never actually seen an episode of Impractical Jokers but just the trailers for the program used to wind me up, those men are so moronic and annoying, I can't believe anyone watches them for fun!
Ditto Keith Lemon, ugh.

I also hate breakfast tv and any kind of sport.
Really hope DS doesn't get into sport, not sure I could cope. Especially football, it's so shouty and loud.

I agree with David Attenborough being very depressing these days as a PP said. It's such a shame as he's a hero of mine.

I don't watch soaps but am fascinated if I happen to see a bit of one, I like the sets and all the little details of the fake houses and shops.

GMB. I cannot stand Piers Morgan, and Susanna Reid. Anything with either of them in I have to switch off.
Game shows- boring.
Comedy programmes- I've never found funny.

staydazzling · 27/11/2018 13:26

oh wow yes thats very messed up x

shirleyschmidt · 27/11/2018 13:29

Omg the first one that sprang to mind was Impractical Jokers! I'd kill them all with a big smile on my face. It's so obnoxious and unfunny but DH LOVES it 🙄 On the other hand I LOVE Homes under the Hammer - miss Lucy Alexander though ☹️

FuzzyCustard · 27/11/2018 14:33

Friends
Friends
Friends
Friends
I hate hate hate Friends.

All other American"comedy" shows.
But especially Friends.

AdamNichol · 27/11/2018 14:38

Once I liked Friends. Now I can't stand it.

@CheeseTheDay - despite the fact we watch Strictly, we'd prefer Claudia to boot out T alentl ESS DAL (Talentless Daily?)

HowlsMovingBungalow · 27/11/2018 14:53

Emmerdale
Corrie Shite
Homes under Hammer ( It is the music they pair with each fucking house )
Crimewatch
Anything with Gloria Hunniford/Angela Rippon presenting
Strictly
Dancing on Ice
Actually most things on tv are absolute shite.

gladiatorgirl · 27/11/2018 14:54

Anything with Jonathan Ross/Russell Brand/Keith Lemmo
Soaps apart from Corrie ( likely to be on the list soon unless they get better storylines)
Any reality celeb programme
David Attenborough programmes for the above reasons. too upsetting to watch.
Ditto charity adverts showing abused and starving animals / children - again too upsetting

MrsJayy · 27/11/2018 14:56

The one on channel 4 about tattoos - where people with crap tattoos come to an expert to get them covered over by an equally hideous tattoo. How the hell it rates as TV beats me.

Babdoc · 27/11/2018 15:16

All soap operas but especially Coronation St as the theme tune sets my teeth on edge. All reality tv shows. All sports coverage except the World Cup.
Any news programme where Nicola Sturgeon appears - can’t bear her irritating half laugh, smug smirk or whiny accent. Ditto Donald Trump, makes me dry boak.
Must admit, there’s very little I actually do find worth watching on tv these days. The quality of programming seems inversely related to the number of available channels! When we only had 3 channels, there was great stuff on every night. Now there’s a few hundred varieties of cheaply produced shit or repeats.
Grumpy old git? Me? Hell, yes!

Oliversmumsarmy · 27/11/2018 15:35

It is threads like this that make me realise I never watch a whole programme of anything on live tv.

I tend to watch Netflix so I can start things at the beginning and stop and start stuff.

RaspberryRipple1963 · 27/11/2018 15:52

Love Island.
I'm a Celebrity,get me out of here.
Big Brother.
Celebrity Big Brother.
The X Factor.
The Voice.
Jeremy Kyle
Jerry Springer or anything similar.

StableGenius · 27/11/2018 15:54

I usually only put the TV on for things I really want to watch, but remember there was a time when Mrs Brown's Boys was the next thing on after something or other we were watching - always resulted in a mad race to the off switch.

The80sweregreat · 27/11/2018 18:38

Agree about a question of sport. Hate this programme.
Most daytime programmes.
Mrs Browns boys.

The80sweregreat · 27/11/2018 18:48

It's been said before , but I think a few of the 'escape to the country ' people are fake.
Their demands are huge and usually they don't find anything good enough for their 'needs'!
I have only seen a few episodes years ago : seen one seen them all.
Daytime tv needs a shake up ( judge rinder can stay )

CigarsofthePharoahs · 27/11/2018 18:55

Swedish crime dramas. They all.seem to be the same and they're all depressing. Why would I want to spend an hour squinting at subtitles only to be grossed out and depressed?
In fact, anything that's depressing. EastEnders is depressing.
