TV programmes you MUST switch off

What is it for you? What TV programmes can you not stand at all - to the point that you have to change the channel or leave the room?

For me it’s Impractical Jokers and Homes Under the Hammer. For entirely different reasons - Impractical Jokers because it irritates me to the point that I am just angry, and Homes Under the Hammer because it reminds me of when DH was ill as it was on every time we were in the hospital for bad news and now I just can’t watch it.

Eastenders. I used to like it but they are just so, so unpleasant.

Most stuff that’s on BBC1, 9-11, weekdays except wanted down under. I like that.

Loose women. Surely no one likes it really. Bunch of cunts is a better name.

X factor. Old hat now.

I do like This morning and Goggle box though. Blush

Twatforahat · 27/11/2018 11:36

Loose Gibbons! Grin

PuppyMonkey · 27/11/2018 11:38

Definitely that Naked Attraction thing. Sad

Also the following as and when I happen to come across them:

Heartbeat
Time Team
Thunderbirds
Storage Wars
Match of the Day and all sports programmes
Sky News

I hate Impractical Jokers too OP

That Sal one gets right on my tits and I saw a "prank" once that was tantamount to sexual assault

Why has no one mentioned the ongoing national embarrassment that is THE ONE SHOW? That programme and its mix of items is fucking insane

Jonathan Ross

All soaps

All the antique based ones why are there so many of the fuckers? It's baffling

GEORDIE SHORE

THEIR CONTRACTS ARE BASICALLY PROSTITUTION, WHY ISNT IT AGAINST THE LAW? It's the one program that basically makes me go all Mary Whitehouse

AdamNichol · 27/11/2018 11:38

I thought I'd hate Gogglebox, but actually I like it. And not in a guilty way either. It's both interesting and reassuring to see how other people react to the same thing.
There are, however, 2 groups of (err, contestants??) that I can't stand on it.

SheSparkles · 27/11/2018 11:45

Jeremy Kyle
X Fecker-was good when it started but feels like it’s flogging a slowly dying horse now
Strictly-see above
Dancing on ice -see above
TOWIE or anything of that ilk
Anything with x list famous for fuck all slebrities
Soaps
GoggleBox
Loose -gobshites- women

I’ll seitch the tv on for the news, or occasional documentary these days but that’s about all.
I’m a grumpy heading for Middle Aged woman I think 🙄

redexpat · 27/11/2018 11:47

Bones. Americans whining through their noses. They dont whine on csi or west wing or any other show - so why Bones?
Storage wars. Toxic masculinity and greed with nasty competition.
Keeping up appearances. Its just dreadful. As is last of the summer wine.
Friends. Not that funny and quite misogynistic.
The big bang theory. Also quite misogynistic.

RedWineIsFabulous · 27/11/2018 11:48

Question Time

I used to get right into it but it is so left wing bias- with a huge left wing audience ( despite claiming its impartial) that I refuse to engage with it.

She says ( whilst grabbing hard hat) as she posts on a veh veh left wing site....

GrinGrin

goingonabearhunt1 · 27/11/2018 11:56

I find both Strictly and BakeOff REALLY boring but everyone seems to love them IRL. Also hate Big Brother, TOWIE and I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here. Any sports. Property shows. Most TV to be honest Grin

goingonabearhunt1 · 27/11/2018 11:57

Also not a fan of all these murder mystery shows, my DM is obsessed with them.

MyOtherProfile · 27/11/2018 12:00

Question Time I used to get right into it but it is so left wing bias- with a huge left wing audience

That's really funny because I've gone off it because of it's terrible right wing bias!

JustLetMeStapleTheVicar · 27/11/2018 12:08

@PawneeParksDept - YES to The One Show! Can't believe I forgot that! Total embarrassment of a programme.

There used to be this shocker of a programme, Heir Hunters - Jesus wept, it was bloody awful.

Noel Fielding's Luxury Comedy was a vanity project of the highest order. Noel says Spike Milligan was one of his greatest comedy influences. If he saw it, Spike would be spinning in his grave so fast, he could probably generate electricity.

iklboo · 27/11/2018 12:08

All soaps.

Ladymargarethall · 27/11/2018 12:14

Anything to do with cooking/food.
I am on a self imposed News ban because of Brexit
Coronation Street/Emmerdale/East Enders
The One Show
Cash in the Attic/Bargain Hunt and their ilk
Quiz shows
The television st st a off for longer and longer these days!

PawneeParksDept · 27/11/2018 12:16

I made a formal complaint the BBC over Question Times RIGHT WING bias and it's incessant championing of Farage

iwasaterribleperson · 27/11/2018 12:20

Be easier to list what I do watch !

Avoid - anything like Come Dine With Me, anything about weddings , babies , ambulances , A&E, GP surgeries , soaps , scripted reality , adult cartoons like bobs burgers , family guy , murder mysteries , TV talent contests , most day time stuff , downtown Abbey , Graham Norton, James corden , basically most stuff on the TV - hardly ever switch it on !

Holymolymackerel · 27/11/2018 12:22

Soaps, reality soaps, loose eomen

Childrenofthesun · 27/11/2018 12:27

I'm a celebrity/Love Island/Big Brother.

Anything with Piers Morgan - nothing makes me reach for the control quicker than his smarmy face.

And I agree about anything in the poor/benefits-bashing ilk. These have a lot to answer for in terms of demonising poverty.

Childrenofthesun · 27/11/2018 12:29

I forgot about Question Time! Used to be a regular viewer until they decided that Farage/Julia Hartley-Brewer/Isabel Oakeshott would be on permanent rotation, along with an audience that is composed of at least 50% middle-aged white men with red faces.

Dowser · 27/11/2018 12:35

Any soap
Any reality show
Any sports programmes
Any news
The one show
All those mock the week, hignfy type shows

We barely watch anything
Just grand designs,
Tenable, tipping point
The chase

That’s about it

Storm4star · 27/11/2018 12:37

I agree with Impractical Jokers. Surely everyone knows who they are now so these "pranks" must be staged.

Brooklyn 99, my ex loved this show and I always thought it was meh at best. So now I actively hate it.

X factor/Strictly/Bake off, anything of that ilk. Ditto "celeb" shows.

Anything with Russell Brand or Keith Lemon. They both irritate the shit out of me.

Dowser · 27/11/2018 12:38

The show I really loved was pop star to opera star
Apart from meat loaf who was a total bore

ginghambox · 27/11/2018 12:42

Dr Who, preachy scripts and shit acting.
Brussels Broadcasting Corporation news, especially Fiona Bruce with her consant head shaking.
All soaps
All reality shows.

thesunwillout · 27/11/2018 12:45

The One Show
Even the first seconds of the music makes me angry.

Bombaybunty · 27/11/2018 12:52

Top Gear
