Got chest pain feels like someone's kicked me in the breastbone. Hurts to move, hurts to breathe more than shallow.

In queue for speaking to reception, already been told might not be any appointments left. They will see me with this won't they?

"I am having chest pains and am struggling to breathe. I need to see a GP please".

SinisterClownWatchingYou · 16/11/2018 09:26

Then you go to A+E. It's chest pain.....not really one for the GPs anyway.

Onemorefireball · 16/11/2018 09:28

I'm sure they will see you. If the receptionist trays to say no then ask for the practice manager. Sounds like you really need to be seen.

Although I agree, a&e might be more appropriate.

Folf · 16/11/2018 09:28

Can't go to hospital, they are severely short staffed and in special measures. will take hours just to triage. Dr is quicker if they see me.

I mean this kindly OP but we’re not there.

Randoms on the internet can’t summon a doctor’s appointment for you.

Did the receptionist not think you were a high priority case if you were struggling to breathe (which would have made it hard to speak) when you presented at the surgery?

EthelHornsby · 16/11/2018 09:31

If you are in a queue, shout out ‘I can’t breathe!’ - you will be seen instantly

HarrietKettleWasHere · 16/11/2018 09:31

Don’t be a martyr re hospital. Their staffing issues are not your problem. What do you think it’s there for?

Folf · 16/11/2018 09:32

Not even seen receptionist, you get given a ticket and told to sit down til they call you.

OP posts:
HarrietKettleWasHere · 16/11/2018 09:33

Sounds like more of a walk in clinic, Hereford surely you will be triaged.

HarrietKettleWasHere · 16/11/2018 09:33

*therefore

flumpybear · 16/11/2018 09:33

They can't ignore chest pains - tell them you seriously needs attention if anything they may be able to call an ambulance if they think it's more serious than say palpitations or anxiety - good luck

Folf · 16/11/2018 09:34

Harriet, i can breathe, just hurts to take more than shallow breaths.

SleepingStandingUp · 16/11/2018 09:35

Go up to the desk and say "my chest pains are getting worse". Interrupt politely or get in as they call a number and stay there til thry get a doctor.

happypotamus · 16/11/2018 09:35

Even if it will take hours to be triaged in A&E, surely that is better than not being able to see anyone at all at the GP surgery if there aren't any appointments left? Also, what if you do get to see a GP and they say you need to go to A&E anyway? The fact that it is in special measures won't make any difference to it being the best place to be with severe chest pain that makes it difficult to breathe.
Anyway, hope you get on ok and feel better soon.

You will he prioritised at A&E with chest pains!

HarrietKettleWasHere · 16/11/2018 09:38

Ok, but they’re not mind-readers, at the moment they don’t know if you’re sitting there with a sore toe or something more serious.

SinkingSlowly20 · 16/11/2018 09:43

Obviously you should be seen, but if it reassures you I had the same - was sent to hosp and told it was muscular. I would imagine GP will send you up there anyway.

Folf · 16/11/2018 09:45

Can't see me til 3pm

OP posts:
HarrietKettleWasHere · 16/11/2018 09:46

What, even after you told them what was wrong?

Notquiterichenough · 16/11/2018 09:47

Are you still at the surgery or have you gone home?

Folf · 16/11/2018 09:47

Yep

OP posts:
HarrietKettleWasHere · 16/11/2018 09:48

Folf · 16/11/2018 09:48
