Got chest pain feels like someone's kicked me in the breastbone. Hurts to move, hurts to breathe more than shallow.

In queue for speaking to reception, already been told might not be any appointments left. They will see me with this won't they?

Sorry, but if you are trailing to the gp and posting on mumsnet I don't think you are about to die, go home, sleep, and return at 3. They've obviously assessed you there?

HarrietKettleWasHere · 16/11/2018 10:18

I cannot imagine a doctor’s surgery in the land (they might be over stretched but it’s basic training/targets) that would send you in your way with a 3pm appointment if you say my chest hurts and breathing is difficult. Just incredibly hard to believe.

Folf · 16/11/2018 10:19

111 called ambulance.

I don't want to go to a and e.

I just wasn't sure what best course was if no appointments. Only person I have to talk to is my mom and I don't want to worry her, so asked on here.

Yes I have drove because kids still have to go to school and my gp isn't local so no other way to get there.

It really is a bugger being a woman with any medical issue. You never know whether you'll be taken seriously or treated like a hysterical attention seeker. I can understand not knowing what to do.

ADastardlyThing · 16/11/2018 10:21

"There are trained medical professionals that could assess the OP right now only feet away though."

That's what I don't understand, why are people saying to go to a and e when she's already at the docs who could sort any further attention needed way quicker Confused

Folf · 16/11/2018 10:23

I've had pluerisy before, and I'm asthmatic, pains not the same. I've also had ectopic heart bests, again, pain nog the same.

I f you don't want to post on here or read it then don't. I hate going to the Drs, and I hate the hospital.

eddielizzard · 16/11/2018 10:24

You are not making a fuss. You need immediate treatment. I'm glad they called you an ambulance.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 16/11/2018 10:24

Sounds like anxiety.

ileclerc · 16/11/2018 10:24

Why don't you want to go to A&E?

Lweji · 16/11/2018 10:25

I don't want to go to a and e.

And here is the problem.
Just go and be seen and have proper tests done.
At the GP they wouldn't be able to have an X ray or blood tests or a heart exam done within a few hours.
Best case, it's a broken rib or something like that, but it could be something more serious.

LiquoricePickle · 16/11/2018 10:25

You can do this, OP. Go in the ambulance, you need it.

Missingstreetlife · 16/11/2018 10:25

Someone at gp should have seen you, and called an ambulance. The advantage would be that they would call ahead so you are expected.

sheet82 · 16/11/2018 10:26

Thanksgood luck OP x

Blue lights and sirens... gawd. I feel like a right tit.

Chostocondritis, or tietzes syndrome. Do you have any swelling in your breast bone area? If not then more likely to be chostocondritis. Can take a little while to go for some people. Don't panic. Pain relievers won't do much sadly, it's the cartilage between the ribs and sternum that become inflamed making breathing very difficult.

I hope you do get seen obviously it may not be this, but it sounds very much like it.

VioletCharlotte · 16/11/2018 10:28

If it was really that bad you'd go to a&e. Take some painkillers, have a sleep and go back at 3pm. Hope you feel better soon.

Mrspimplepopper · 16/11/2018 10:29

I had brilliant advice on Monday when I was unwell. I knew deep down I needed a&e when my gp wouldn't/couldn't see me but I felt so unwell I didn't trust myself to make the right choice.

It's hard when you feel very unwell to stand up for yourself.

You do need a&e my love, please go

GiveMeAllTheGin8 · 16/11/2018 10:29

You're texting from the ambulance?

lljkk · 16/11/2018 10:30

ooh... that syndrome thing sounds like what friend had. She had mega-stress going on her life at the time which was linked. Was quite alarming, ,though.

LaurieFairyCake · 16/11/2018 10:30

Just sending you flowers Thanks

I hope it's nothing. Last time I had chest pain which worsened over the course of a day I took myself to A and E. I'd managed to pull a muscle in my chest cavity - really fucking hurt.

2 ibuprofen sorted me out Blush

But she did hook me up to an ecg and the Doctor was lovely and an even bigger lady than me - she said "you're a bit fat, yes I know I'm even fatter but you might feel better if you lost weight"

She was quite right

Quartz2208 · 16/11/2018 10:30

presumably you are in an ambulance

SpaceAhoy · 16/11/2018 10:31

Good luck at the hospital. Hope you can be easily treated and back home asap.

Bombardier25966 · 16/11/2018 10:31

Blue lights and sirens... gawd. I feel like a right tit.

You will be if the ambulance is there and you're still on here.

Birdie6 · 16/11/2018 10:32

Call an ambulance . Chest pain / difficulty breathing is an emergency .

Mummyoflittledragon · 16/11/2018 10:32

I hope you’re doing ok. My fil had pains and struggling to breathe. We called the doctor out (abroad). Turns out he had a mild heart attack and they fitted him with a stent. Glad you’re being seen. Flowers
