What is one motto that you try to live by?

Mine is things aren't always as they seem behind closed doors.
Basically I try never to be jealous of people because you can never tell what people's lives are really like. There is always a skeleton...

Not really a motto but be kind - because a but like you're saying - you don't know what's going on in people's lives.

I found it very difficult to be assertive as a teen so had a bit of cbt around this - if I felt I was being pushed I'd snap into nastiness to protect myself... so yes, "be kind but firm".

I like to say 'well, everyone is different' instead of judging people.
