Mine is things aren't always as they seem behind closed doors.
Basically I try never to be jealous of people because you can never tell what people's lives are really like. There is always a skeleton...

Ohh another one: if you worry, you suffer twice

Vitalogy · 12/11/2018 23:00

Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them - Dalai Lama

GrumpyOldMare · 12/11/2018 23:03

How would my dad react? What would he do or say (he's my hero)

JosephineDupont · 12/11/2018 23:04

I read the DalaiLama thirty years ago. I think he influenced me more than anyone else (which explains my motto.)

SquiggPig · 12/11/2018 23:06

What others think of me is none of my business.

SavageBeauty73 · 12/11/2018 23:06

Own your shit.

Luglio · 12/11/2018 23:08

'I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit.'

The whole of Ecclesiastes, basically.

bionicnemonic · 12/11/2018 23:15

Eat, Drink and be Merry.
For tomorrow you may diet.

JaneJeffer · 12/11/2018 23:18

Fuck the lot of them

Butterfly98 · 12/11/2018 23:18

"Comparison is the thief of joy" is my motto! Don't waste your energy comparing your life to others, just be thankful for what you have and keep moving forward.... also a wise friend of mine has a good motto "don't mess with peoples hearts and don't put up with people who mess with yours" I thinks those words are from a song actually!

SausageSimon · 12/11/2018 23:23

Do what suits you because you can spend your life bending over backwards to please others and they still won't be happy. So it's better to please one person (yourself) than disappoint two!

OldChair · 12/11/2018 23:25

You don’t know how much you don’t know

OldChair · 12/11/2018 23:27

Also - some people you’ll never understand and that’s ok

EllaDownTheLane · 12/11/2018 23:30

Don’t believe everything you think.

Butterfly98 · 12/11/2018 23:32

My Mum would sometimes say when we were kids "Be yourself, everyone else is already taken" it's very true Oscar Wilde

chewybacca · 12/11/2018 23:32

If they go to bed happy. Good job, well done.

CazzieCatsRock · 12/11/2018 23:37

If it seems too good to be true, then it probably is!

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 12/11/2018 23:37

Hard is hard. It's not a competition, it's not relative, if someone is finding it hard then it's hard.

Sometimes everyone fed and teeth brushed is enough (that's just since having DCs).

Everyone is doing their best and everyone wants the best for him (that's just since having dcs with SN).

pallisers · 12/11/2018 23:38

There but for the grace of god, go I.

That and Be kind.

TheFreaksShallInheritTheEarth · 13/11/2018 00:04

I remember watching Bambi as a child around 40 years ago, and Thumper's line "If you can't say something nice, don't say nothing at all" really stuck with me.

TheDogAteMySock · 13/11/2018 01:04

Be kind whenever possible.
It's always possible.

helacells · 13/11/2018 02:00

Make good choices. Oh and it's better to be a rich mans darling than a poor mans wife (seriously, the poor ones suck)

RedneckStumpy · 13/11/2018 02:06

Two is one, one is none

ScreamingValenta · 13/11/2018 02:13

If in doubt, say nowt.

LilMadAgain · 13/11/2018 02:13

I've got a couple but one that I really like came from an elderly lady with poor mental health, she was lovely.
"I don't care if people talk about me, at least if they do they're leaving someone else alone". Always makes me smile. On a different theme if someone close to me does something daft/questionable and I find myself thinking why have they done that then I stop in my tracks and say 'Nope, so much nope' but tbf I usually reserve it for my arsehole cousin.
