Mine is things aren't always as they seem behind closed doors.
Basically I try never to be jealous of people because you can never tell what people's lives are really like. There is always a skeleton...

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger

Inthetropics · 14/11/2018 03:50

We are all just winging it.

I truly believe this!

EK36 · 14/11/2018 07:06

Only lend out what you don't want back.

Juells · 14/11/2018 09:03

Only do what you want to do.

Fadingmemory · 14/11/2018 09:05

Life is too serious to be taken seriously. Also like expect the worst, hope for the best.

NotAnEMERGENCY · 14/11/2018 10:01

RomanyRoots Sorry you're struggling.

NotAnEMERGENCY · 14/11/2018 10:01

Oh and my motto is my username.

YankeeDoodleDoo · 14/11/2018 10:15

Be like a dog, when shit happens kick grass over it and move on

GourmetGold · 14/11/2018 10:40

Be your own best friend.
Dare to be average. (as in being 'perfect' is a ridiculous thing to aim for and causes mental health problems, average is enough!)

Last one stolen from Giles on Gogglebox
"A friend in need is a pain in the arse" ...joke of course..or is it?Grin

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 14/11/2018 10:42

Forget yesterday, you cannot change it. Do better today.

TimeWoundsAllHeals · 14/11/2018 11:05

fail early, fail often

JosephineDupont · 14/11/2018 11:11

Gourmet, similarly in situations where children or young people are getting down about not feeling they have particular talents or attributes, our family would say "average is fine!" Or later at the age of trying to be cool : "boring is good too!"

It sounds negative amongst modern "go for it" " you are amazing/ stunning" affirmations but I've found it psychologically useful!

Honestly wish my parents had taught me that. I still can't shake the feeling if I am not doing something revolutionary my life is pointless even though what really makes the world go round is the incremental "boring" day to day stuff people do not revolutionary disruptive moments that in all honesty probably make life worse as much as better most of the time.

Tighnabruaich · 14/11/2018 11:15

The fear of the thing is worse than the thing itself. Feel the fear and do it anyway.

morningconstitutional2017 · 14/11/2018 11:35

Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened.

Monday55 · 14/11/2018 11:46

As many as we are is as many as our graves are going to be. Clock is ticking. Therefore, Don't spend every day dreading about what you don't have and actually start seeing positives in what you have.

Idontbelieveinthemoon · 14/11/2018 11:48

Have courage and be kind, always. It's from Cinderella, which is really twee and a little twatty but I love it.

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 14/11/2018 11:48

Don't be a dick

MrsSpenserGregson · 14/11/2018 11:50

Let God do the judging and we'll do the loving . (My religious mum's motto. I'm not religious at all but I totally live by this one).

And the Mumsnet favourite: "No" is a complete sentence. (not mutually exclusive from my first one - it's possible to say "No" repeatedly in a kind voice with a smile on your face!)

Ohyesiam · 14/11/2018 11:52

Keep your side of the street clean.

AlwaysPottering · 14/11/2018 11:53

Be useful, be kind

TimeWoundsAllHeals · 14/11/2018 11:57

Markov switching models... that might work, I need to read more about it.

Now I better quit neglecting my kids and go feed them lol!

TimeWoundsAllHeals · 14/11/2018 11:57

HopeHopity · 14/11/2018 11:58

redexpat · 14/11/2018 12:01
