Mine is things aren't always as they seem behind closed doors.
Basically I try never to be jealous of people because you can never tell what people's lives are really like. There is always a skeleton...

Also, treat others how you want to be treated

April2020mom · 13/11/2018 15:32

Always be prepared and always be polite too.

Soontobequalified · 13/11/2018 15:33

No bullshit

perfectlyspherical · 13/11/2018 16:16

"All that we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us." - Gandalf

allyouneedis · 13/11/2018 16:53

If you don’t have anything nice to say then say nothing at all !

OzzyMadBat · 13/11/2018 17:05

Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.

JakeBallardswife · 13/11/2018 17:07

Fuck it.

sizzledrizz · 13/11/2018 17:14

Can't please everyone
This too shall pass

CreamCol0uredP0nies · 13/11/2018 17:15

Choose Happy

Justmuddlingalong · 13/11/2018 17:21

Life's a bitch...and then you die.

megletthesecond · 13/11/2018 17:22

Leave everything a little nicer than you found it.

Everyone is fighting their own personal battles.

Horrordoeurvres · 13/11/2018 17:36

I have two, both passed down.

"Keep a song in your heart and a knife in your boot" - Great Grandfather, think it roughly means be a nice person but not a pushover.

"What gets cast into the ocean, will come back with the tide" - Mother, relating to karma

Everyoneiswingingit · 13/11/2018 17:47

Everyone is winging it.

Cambalamb · 13/11/2018 17:53

“The secret of being miserable is to have leisure to bother about whether you are happy or not. The cure for it is occupation, because occupation means pre-occupation; and the pre-occupied person is neither happy nor unhappy, but simply alive and active. That is why it is necessary to happiness that one should be tired.”

George Bernard Shaw

I remind myself of this as I have a tendency to worry.

Cambalamb · 13/11/2018 17:55

"Keep a song in your heart and a knife in your boot"

Love that!

Crappygilmore · 13/11/2018 17:59

Theirs only one way of life... and that's your own.

AHintOfStyle · 13/11/2018 18:03

Treat People With Kindness

everywhichway · 13/11/2018 18:05

When in doubt, do the right thing.

Cambalamb · 13/11/2018 18:05

There's Crappy otherwise it doesn't make sense.

shirleyschmidt · 13/11/2018 18:06

"If you can't say something nice, don't say nothin at all". My mum used to impress this Thumper quote on us and whilst I don't always stick to it, it's one to always keep in mind and I'll be saying it to my own children.

"Tomorrow is another day!" Scarlett O'Hara's line always helps if I'm feeling anxious about something.

grumiosmum · 13/11/2018 18:08

Just keep swimming.

MadisonMontgomery · 13/11/2018 18:11

‘You don’t have to be nice to people’. My mum said it to me when I was a child and got into trouble at school for not wanting to play with a girl I didn’t like, and I’ve lived by it ever since.

gladiatorgirl · 13/11/2018 19:22

As others have written......
treat others as you would like to be treated. (' do as you would be done by. -the Water Babies by Charles Kingsley )
travel your own road
if you can't say something nice don't say anything at all

such a lot of kindness being shown on here

A580Hojas · 13/11/2018 19:23

"this too shall pass"

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 13/11/2018 19:30

Get it right and tell the truth. That way you can go home early and not have to remember stuff.
