How much did your 2nd weigh in comparison to 1st?

I'm expecting my second baby and I'm genuinely terrified of giving birth due to the size my first was. My first was 9lb4 and I had 2nd degree tears. Everyone keeps telling me their second weighed more. I find myself feeling sick at the thought of tearing again or it being even worse. Was there a huge difference in size for you?

Dd1 was 6lb 15.5oz at 11 days late, dd2 was 6lb 13oz 8 days early. helpful

bangourvillagebesttimeever · 29/08/2018 21:01

My babies did get bigger until number 4 which isn’t unusual. 1st 8lb 2nd 9lb 6 3rd 11lb 4 4th 7lb 12

Bigpizzalover · 29/08/2018 21:02

5lb 13oz for my first, at 39+6
8lb 11oz for my second, at 40+4

Grazed and had a 4 day labour with my first, no grazes/tears and a 4.5hour labour with my second.

Although I should add that I was late by over 10 days with the first 3 and two weeks early with number 4

DiabolicalMess · 29/08/2018 21:03

ds1 was 10lbs exactly at 40+2, ds2 was 9lb 11oz at 38+6 so was probably going to be a bit bigger than ds1.

Shixtyshixpershent · 29/08/2018 21:08

8lb6 and 8lb13, both 40+3 a mild graze with my eldest, nothing with my second 😂 My second was predicted to be a 10+lber and I was terrified. But it was actually a really easy, lovely experience looking back.

Phillipa12 · 29/08/2018 21:09

Dc1, 9lb @ 40+1
Dc2, 10.9lb @38+2
Dc3, 9.14lb @39+0
Dc4, 11.6lb @38+1
They were all sections, 1 emcs, 3 elcs and no gestational diabetes. My stomach is ruined....🤔

DinosApple · 29/08/2018 21:11

7lb 5 first. Third degree tear. 40+5.
7lb 11 second. Elective section because of the above. 39+0.

LBOCS2 · 29/08/2018 21:12

7lb 3 - 38+3
7lb 13 - 41wks.

DD2 weighed more but she was almost three weeks later, so...

blinkineckmum · 29/08/2018 21:12

1st 6lb15
2nd 6lb04

BestIsWest · 29/08/2018 21:12

Second baby weighed 1lb 10 ozs less than the first . Both were two weeks late.

LBOCS2 · 29/08/2018 21:12

Oh, and I had relatively significant 2nd degree tears with both.

schooltripwoes · 29/08/2018 21:13

DC1: 7lb 12oz at 40 +13
DC2: 8lb 7oz at 40 +3

So yup, DC2 was quite a bit bigger, especially bearing in mind they had 10 days less time to 'cook'!

maamalady · 29/08/2018 21:15

#1 at 40+12 was 8lb 2oz
#2 at 40+4 was 7lb 12oz

I reckon had #2 cooked for another week they could well have had identical birth weights. They've certainly been almost identical for height/weight since then (#2 is now almost 2.5 years old).

PenApple · 29/08/2018 21:15

1st 9lb 3oz cut, tore & forceps it was horrendous.

2nd 9lb 4oz and just a graze

3rd 10lb 9oz and no injuries

Tattletale · 29/08/2018 21:18

First DD was 7lb 6oz and my second was 8lb 4oz. My second DD was 10 dates late though.

BertieBotts · 29/08/2018 21:18

My second was bigger and faster but I didn't tear.

DS1 was 6lb 11oz and it took me a couple of hours to push him out. I needed stitches.

DS2 was 7lb 9oz and I pushed him out in about 3 minutes and didn't need any stitches.

Both labours were long but it was the build up.

Talith · 29/08/2018 21:19

7lb 6oz plus french embroidery first time, I blame his big head, he's a good foot taller than his peers even now, and my comparative dinky second at 7lb 1oz but he was a few weeks early. I had no stitches second time but they weren't the biggest babies. It's a rather inexact science it seems x

owl89 · 29/08/2018 21:19

PenApple you have made me feel a bit better haha

DD1 8lb 11 born 41+1

DD2 7lb 15 born 40+3

Tattletale · 29/08/2018 21:20

I was the same re birth injuries. First 'lighter' DD needed a forced delivery and a bad tear. Second heavier DD no injuries.

owl89 · 29/08/2018 21:20

Okay, another question for you all. Would you say second babies are easier deliver? Are you more streched Grin

OP posts:
Tattletale · 29/08/2018 21:20

Forcep not forced ffs

Tattletale · 29/08/2018 21:21

My second baby 'shot out like a rugby ball' according to DH. I definitely had an easier labour the second time around.

Itchytights · 29/08/2018 21:22

1st- 37 weeks 8lb 3oz
2nd- 40 plus 1 weeks 7lb 5oz
