Just went to Google Love Cocoa... Just noticed in time that my phone thought I wanted to search for Love Cocks BlushShock

Branleuse · 18/08/2018 15:00

Just confirming that milka chocolate is still good

JulianOfNorwich · 18/08/2018 15:14

I hate that Cadbury's is just horrid fatty sugar these days with little chocolate/ cocoa taste... but I get even more disproportionately incensed when they try and fill all their bars with American fatty and sugary shit like peanuts and Oreos.
Waitrose1 milk choc is good- lots of other choices on Ocado and you can read all the ingredients online before you buy.

PerverseConverse · 18/08/2018 15:23

@Fatbelliedgirl this is from Cadbury's website showing the ingredients of Freddo's. They still contain palm and Shea. Maybe in lesser quantities?

What the fuck have they done to chocolate?
Auldspinster · 18/08/2018 15:27

I love the mint crisp Cadbury bars. Luckily a couple of supermarkets near me stock them in the international aisle.

TheSassyAssassin · 18/08/2018 15:38

@PerverseConverse good thinking re e-mailing them! When asked where I had heard about them, I just put "other" and mentioned this thread too. Can't wait for my order to arrive! @jaimebravo thank you for sharing the love with us! Grin What have we all gone for? I went for the honeycomb milk and dark sea salt bars as look like good way of trying it (with the price reduction) and flavours I know both myself and DD will enjoy! Smile

Agree that mass produced chocolate is disgusting and I don't buy it any more. We still have Cadbury's Easter eggs lying untouched in a cupboard which would have been unheard of before! DH travels abroad for work and always obliges with taking home delicious chocolates. I usually buy from Aldi, Lidl or Hotel Chocolat occasionally. Oban chocolates are delicious, you can order online and delivery is already included in the price

Jozxyqk · 18/08/2018 16:12

Cadbury is vile now, it doesn't even melt any more, even in a bain marie, it just turns into a sort of nasty sticky blob in the bowl. Useless. I feel so sorry for the children of the current generation who grow up thinking that this is what chocolate tastes like. (I am trying to educate my DD to like the decent stuff.)

LemonRedwood · 18/08/2018 16:32

Got 15% off on the Love Cocoa spinner and ordered a reasonable amount of chocolate that should keep me going for a couple of days! Also mentioned the thread.

PerverseConverse · 18/08/2018 16:37

Wonder if the press will get hold of this one. Will be a huge "up yours" to Mondalez 😂

This is what really made me notice the change. I used to used dairy milk all the time to make modelling chocolate for cake decorating but when they changed the recipe it just became a slimy mess. I couldn't understand it at the time because there was a lot of denial about recipe-changing wasn't there? In the same way that they spouted "creme eggs haven't got smaller, you've all just got bigger" before admitting they are indeed now smaller.

Jozxyqk · 18/08/2018 16:44

I got 10% off on the Love Cocoa spinner & have just made an order. Should keep me going for a few weeks! BlushGrin

I so love that the founder is part of the Cadbury family!

tiramisu · 18/08/2018 16:55

I used to love Kit Kats but they are horrible now as well.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 18/08/2018 16:56

I have switched to traditionally and fairly produced chocolate without any of the stuff that does not belong. It is way more expensive and rightly so - chocolate is now again something special to be eaten in small quantities. Better for my weight, too.

scaryteacher · 18/08/2018 17:06

The Milka in my fridge doesn't seem to have palm oil in it, and nor does the Ritter stash. I can't look at Lindt as (d)h ate my hoarded bar of ftuit and nut.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 18/08/2018 17:10

Some Ritter chocolate does have palm oil, and some Milk too.

It depends on the kind of chocolate.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 18/08/2018 17:10

some Milka

HashTagLil · 18/08/2018 17:45

I love Prestat chocolate, but it's not cheap. Occasional treat only.

TheMarbleFaun · 18/08/2018 18:28

If you can find any irish chocolate (Butlers, Cadburys Ireland,or Liliy o Briens) you won't be disappointed Smile

Pippylou · 18/08/2018 18:31

Palm oil is in pretty much all the biscuits now too, I rarely buy any but fancied some but gave up.

blueskiesandforests · 18/08/2018 18:32

Palm oil.

Try Milka, Lindt or Ritter Sport.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 18/08/2018 18:33

Most of my time shopping is spent squinting at labels looking for bastarding palm oil.

I started baking to avoid it.

Thinkingofausername1 · 18/08/2018 18:40

I've noticed to with dairy milk caramel.

Kingkiller · 18/08/2018 18:52

Cadbury's was always pretty cheap, low-end chocolate tbh, but it's certainly disgusting now. Used to love Green and Blacks Sad. Aldi Moser Roth is great. Might have to try this Love Cocoa stuff though.

JuneFromBethesda · 18/08/2018 18:56

I also binged on Freddos recently Grin

Ritter definitely my chocolate of choice. Their Alpine milk bar (pale blue packaging - known in our house as ‘pale blue chocolate’) is my idea of chocolate heaven.

Also off to follow the herd and check out Love Cocoa ... baaaaa 🐑
