Looked up montezuma on Morrison’s online shopping and what do you know they have the buttons so added them too my shop for tommorrow :-)

Having had quite a few of the LC bars Blush I can confirm that the crumbly texture was only on the ones with bloom that had been exposed to heat in the office. If you contact them they happily replace. I loved the salted caramel one. The plain milk chocolate is nice but it needed a bit of something to make it wow as lacked flavour. Maybe it was too milky?

I now have 1.5kg ish of Montezumas buttons and am trying not to eat them! Am definitely saving the jar until Christmas. I've given my mum the coffee truffle bar they sent me and will probably give her the American Idol truffles for Christmas. I'm not a fan of truffles so will happily let her have them. I'll try one of course though! Be rude not too!

On the LC orange bar, I've now had three of these across two different orders. The first order, the orange bar was absolutely lovely with a good orange flavour but the two orange bars in my second order were not the same: the flavour wasn't good with no orange hit at all; it was like the chocolate orange equivalent of off-white paint with just a hint that it was a flavoured bar rather than being unmistakeably orange.

I'm afraid I feel that LC are charging too much for their chocolate when they are not managing to produce consistently good bars.

I can't justify another £3+ per bar LC order when I can't be sure I'll get something really good.

Wilde Irish Chocolate

I've just been to visit this tiny factory and outlet shop.

Can report that the bars we bought are fantastic, no bloom, real chocolate, no palm oil. The flavours are intense - DD chose dark 56% chocolate with lavender and rose and it even smells of lavender. She loves it but it's definitely a treat in small amounts.

I chose the Irish coffee swirl (also in 54% cocoa dark chocolate) and it's devine, the dark chocolate really sets off the Irish coffee ingredients and the balance is just right.

Ds1 chose an Oreo chocolate slice in white chocolate and scoffed it all at once without letting anyone try it was enthusiastic about its creamyness and the big chunks of Oreo in it (that one isn't available as a bar, just a brownie sized slab).

Ds2 has the milk chocolate but isn't opening it yet. We had a free taster in store and it was creamy and smooth and as it should be.

DH has the nut and raisins bar - the peanuts are salted which works really well, though I was initially surprised.

Should have said - you can order on line. 4.50€ per bar though! Shock Definitely returning chocolate to the luxury list.

I got a survey from mondelez yesterday and have answered as below.
I was disappointed in the Montezumas bar. Too milky I think. Will stick to the buttons.

I’m dying to try Montezumas buttons, would somebody mind telling me where is the best deal for these?

ignatiusjreilly · 07/09/2018 15:31

I bought some Milka after the recommendations on this thread, but I didn't enjoy it much. It was too sweet. Not a patch on the milk chocolate Lindt Excellence bar.

I also bought some Tesco Finest Mint Dark Chocolate and that was delicious. Only 5 ingredients: Cocoa Mass, Cocoa Butter, Emulsifier (Soya Lecithins), Mint Oil, Vanilla Extract.

Bendicks still make the best mint chocolates though.

I think my “everyday “ chocolate is going to be Moser Roth. Cheap enough and good!

Will purchase Montezuma buttons next time I’m in a waitrose and feed back as well!

The Sainsburys own brand chocolate is delicious. This stuff.

I can vouch the caramel crisp version and the white wholenut version of it are bloody lovely too. Just like chocolate used to be. Not expensive either.

BackinTimeforTea · 08/09/2018 15:37

Just got my montezuma buttons from amazon -where have these been all my life? Delicious.

00100001 · 23/09/2018 19:14

I just got Montezuma buttons today ( had to remortgage which took a while Wink )
They're good, but not £3 better than something like Moser Roth 35% Ghanaian

Sainsbury’s own is really nice and so is the Lindt bar in red packaging.
Bought a Milky Way earlier, fucking hell it was rank. Had one bite and left the rest. Can’t believe they can pass that off as supposed chocolate.

wouldHAVEshouldHAVEcouldHAVE · 23/09/2018 20:23

Oh no, just rechecked the Lindt bar ingredients and saw Palm kernel. Won’t buy that one again.
