(But tentatively looking forward to autumn.)

I felt a bit less sweaty than last time. Hot and muggy here today. Supposed to be 17 and rainy here tomorrow, though! Hurrah!

Commiserations to @StrangeLookingParasite and those expected 31 degree temps

Hurrah indeed. It's raining here at the mo!

FurryDice · 15/08/2018 18:34

I meant ‘sweary’ in the OP but I suppose ‘sweaty’ works too as being sweaty makes me fucking sweary!

Hurrah for rain, Becca!

Oh, it’s 18 and rainy now tomorrow, with late evening sun (which I hate in this hot flat). Then rising to 24 again.

Sigh.

But it isn’t summer
It’s early autumn

hugoagogo · 15/08/2018 18:49

I have always thought summer was June, July and August?

FurryDice · 15/08/2018 19:03

Autumn doesn’t officially start til the end of September.

It's officially summer until September 25th I think

Yesterdayizdone1 · 15/08/2018 19:05

No need for the eye roll furry

Yesterdayizdone1 · 15/08/2018 19:08

Forecast here for the next week and a bit

Lush
Not to hot and not much rain
Perfect

Thanks for the new thread @FurryDice
Sorry about the sun, it was threatening here but I think it has been vanquished...

And when @Toothtrauma says she's waving her firehose, it's not a euphemism Grin

There's a 26 back on my forecast for Tuesday. Still enough time for them to be wrong.

@Dowser are you time travelling?!

ToothTrauma · 15/08/2018 19:13

Yeah new thread!

Anyone who is planning to give us a hard time for struggling in the heat: please feel free to fuck off. I have a fire hose and I am not afraid to use it.

Hot Grey is giving way to rain and a high of 19 tomorrow according to my apps. Can’t wait!

ToothTrauma · 15/08/2018 19:16

So say you @lighthousesouth Grin

FurryDice · 15/08/2018 19:17

This is the fourth thread for a bunch of us who have been hating summer together for the past few months. If you are bemoaning the lack of heatwave temps or ‘putting on the heating’ just because the temperature has ‘dropped’ to 24 degrees it is not the thread for you.

Meteorologically speaking it's summer until 1st September, traditionally speaking it's summer until the Autumn Equinox, which this year is 23rd September. I go by the meteorological calendar, because it's neater and it makes me an autumn baby.

I've been sweaty today doing nothing much, I didn't even realise it was that hot!

FurryDice · 15/08/2018 19:20

I can never think of autumn as starting til the end of September as even without heatwave temps it still seems far too warm to call it autumn. Autumn for me is October, really.

OP posts:
hugoagogo · 15/08/2018 19:22

Here is my personal ready reckoner of temperature:

16 -18°C = mild
18-20°C = warm
20-22°C = hot
22-25 °C = really hot
25-30 °C = unbearably hot
30-35 °C = scorchio

Inmyownlittlecorner · 15/08/2018 19:24

Oh I’m looking forward to Autumn. There was a brief moment when it was a bit chilly last week & I wanted to go to a country pub for a roast dinner!! A bit tricky from Central London!

SapphireSeptember · 15/08/2018 19:27

October is proper autumn, I agree. I think September used to be cooler than it is these days though, I'm blaming climate change.

hugoagogo That seems reasonable!

I still want more rain! The grass round here is some recovering, but we need more.

FurryDice · 15/08/2018 19:28

I’d go along with that @hugoagogo.

I think we forget that 22 is still over 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Back in the old days (when I was a kid) we considered that hot!

FurryDice · 15/08/2018 19:30

I’ve been having the odd moment like that, @Inmyownlittlecorner.

I love autumn so much; it’s my favourite season bar none.

OP posts:
Inmyownlittlecorner · 15/08/2018 19:56

FurryDice Autumn is my favourite season too. My anxiety has been quite bad in this hot weather & now it’s cooling down I feel a lot better.

FurryDice · 15/08/2018 20:10

Yes, I can relate to that, littlecorner. The heatwave and never knowing when (or if) it would end made my anxiety much worse, too. As it is, I still won’t relax until it’s definitely autumn. And I’m already dreading next summer.

Btw, meant to say it’s good to see you (and your trusty firehouse) @ToothTrauma.

Hello heat haters!
Been busy trying to buy a new house/sell my house. It's no fun getting ready for viewings which I expect will get even worse with the temp on the rise.
I haven't been finding it too bad lately. But I still miss winter. I want to go out on a cold, bracing walk then come home to a lovely roast dinner snuggled up watching something good on tv.
Frankly terrifying reading that we could have heatwaves for the next four years😱
