"I'll be there after breakfast" What does that mean to you?

Depends when they have breakfast. Anytime before lunch/ midday seems fair to me.

For us it would be 7am!!
I guess it’s an individual thing, if someone said to me after breakfast on a Sunday I’d presume between 10-11 and I don’t know why but that’s my presumption

It's totally ambiguous and could be anytime. Ask them for clarification. What time do they have breakfast?

On a Sunday, I would take it to mean around 10/10.30. I would definitely expect them to be there by 11.30!

On a weekend I would assume anywhere between 10-11, on a weekend by 10.30

But for my fil it would be about 8am.

It was specifically a visit to see the kids. Who get up at 6.30! So I thought before 10 was fair.

But they just texted to say it'll be 12 now. And I said "We've been staying in all morning. What with you saying you'd be here after breakfast and all"

The lack of specific time suggests it's going to be later rather than sooner. An early riser would give an exact time or at least window.

It's just crossed wires and different opinions about meal times.

Youngish (under 50) people with no kids I’d take that to mean 11am ish. Older people I’d take it to mean 10am. People with kids, anytime after 9am.

I'd expect a visit mid-morning if they said "after breakfast."

That would mean me asking them to give me an actual time and not a vague one with interpretation!

Anytime until 12 especially on a Sunday! Our family inc dc had breakfast at 10 this morning.

But if you were visiting someone's home, you'd still mean it as anytime before 12??

It’d mean that I’d pester the people until they came up with a half an hour time slot that I can organise my day around. My husband always uses terms like ‘soon’ ‘some time after lunch’ etc. I’ve learnt to ask for a relatively exact time. Especially if it involves meals.

On a Sunday, I'd assume any time between 9.30 and 11.30. If you wanted a specific time, I think you should have asked.

Honestly I didn't think I needed to? I really didn't think it meant 11.30 when you want to visit a 3 year old and a 2 year old! It's not like they're just hanging around on an Xbox!

If I was going to visit small kids I'd mean "morning" when I said after breakfast.

If I went somewgere after breakfast Id go 9ish. But if i had people coming here Id reckon anytime til 12 if they hadnt made a time.
