I prefer Mar-eye-ah to Ma-ree-uh although I like Mhairi even more.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 10/11/2011 22:19

Maria like Maria Aitken? Yes, I like it. I also like Jasper and Marcus, although less keen (profuse apologies) on Venetia. What about Atalanta?

::rather fond of poncetastic names emoticon::

Lettice always amused me. Laetitia, I quite like, though, if you wanna be ponce-tastic.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 10/11/2011 22:22

::Realises that as LadyD is a mere strip of a girl she would no doubt prefer to go to low dives and dubious bôites::

SupermassiveLBD · 10/11/2011 22:31

Meanwhile, has anyone noticed the name of the new Greek PM?

LadyDamerel · 10/11/2011 22:32

Hmm, not sure on Atalanta. Too much like Atlanta. ::waits for Maud to reveal it's Girl's name::

Most of GH's female characters' names aren't very useable to be fair; my favourite heroines after Venetia are Frederica, Annis, Drusilla, Anthea, and Judith, none of which I can imagine shouting across a playground!

I wanted Cecily for a girl but LordD refused to even add it to the shortlist.

LadyDamerel · 10/11/2011 22:34

Maud, sadly the best teashop in Cambridge shut down recently. Perhaps we could go for a punt down the Cam and then for a decorous stroll along the Backs?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 10/11/2011 22:38

Tee hee, Massive I had to go and check it wasn't Spiro.

But if you mean Fitzbillies, LadyD, it's about to reopen, I hear.

::Love the Fitzbillies' buns emoticons::

Back again - Mr S has retired so I can watch DVD and tap away at the same time! Grin

We had no trouble agreeing on DD's name, although her middle name changed three times. Found out very recently that not only is her middle name a derivative of Mr S's nan's, her first name is a version of my great nan's!

We have never been able to agree on any other names since though, so just as well we've stuck to one.

I like lots of names that begin with the same letter as our surname which really doesn't work.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 10/11/2011 22:45

That idea just needs tweaking a little bit, Massive. Mr Thornton and I will take an elegantly-chauffeured punt down the Cam while dear Jasper uses his épée to punt LadyD towards Grantchester.

LadyDamerel · 10/11/2011 22:45

IS IT? ::squeals:: Hooray. I hope you have that on good authority...

The Adventures of Maud and LadyD in Cambridge.

LadyDamerel · 10/11/2011 22:48

My favourite boy's name alliterates with our surname so I couldn't have that either.

::should have married someone else emoticon:: Grin

TransylvanianVampiress · 10/11/2011 22:50

I'd known for ages what I wanted DD to be called and the colonel agreed with me. She's mainly known by the shortened version but has a very traditional grown up name attached! When I named her the shortened version was on the names list in about 3000th place. Last year it was way inside the top 100! all because it has been used on a few notable TV series recently and by a couple of sleb parents!!Shock I like to think I started its rise in popularity!!Grin

Loving the decor of the commune - do hope small isn't intimidated by all the demands!!Grin. Lucas or JP's room for me!!

Right best get upstairs. The colonel just had to send an email to his father who we've not seen in over 10 years or had much contact with since then to tell him his ex-wife is dying. So he's understandably in need of some attention!

Knight all

Oh just quickly that reminds me. According to Vampboy Knights are nocturnal as they are only active at night and spend all day asleep in bed! I think he's got a fabulous understanding of our knight in particular!!WinkGrin

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 10/11/2011 22:50

Pretty good authority, LadyD. ::winks:: If I hadn't been so poorly this week, I would have gone to Cambridge and could have done some reconnaissance.

LadyDamerel · 10/11/2011 22:58

Now, I'm liking that part of the excursion an awful lot, Maud.

Dear Claude has captured us beautifully here

DumSpiroSpero · 10/11/2011 22:59

KnoctuRnAl Knights! Mmmmm... Grin

SupermassiveLBD · 10/11/2011 23:01

Oh, I say , Maud. Didn't you forget your cossies?

TransylvanianVampiress · 10/11/2011 23:03

Looks like a fab tea shoppe! Cambridge is where the colonel and I had our first few outings so it has a special place in our hearts too!! Have you room for one more I'll ditch the husband and bring JP!Grin

LadyDamerel · 10/11/2011 23:03

Sorry, LordD has just come in from choir practice and is distracting me Blush.

Let's try that again, Dear Claude has captured us beautifully here.

And your source is very reliable indeed.

DumSpiroSpero · 10/11/2011 23:06

Have we had this interview?

I think we have tbh, but am getting withdrawal symptoms with so little news from Hobbiton. Sad

TransylvanianVampiress · 10/11/2011 23:08

The colonel is watching newsnight by the way I'm not ignoring him!!Grin

It is all very quiet on the new news front isn't it! How's the plans going for the academy field trip down under? Smile

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 10/11/2011 23:11

Claude has captured us at Fitzbillies?

We were at the Newnham Riverbank Club, Massive. Costumes are considered to be de trop there. And actually, LadyD, on second thoughts you can organise your own swimming party with dear Jasper.
