I think we'll need some kind of pool/spa facility, something like this maybe, but a bit bigger?

DumSpiroSpero · 10/11/2011 21:25

And what about the kitchen? Will we have a rota or will we need to hire a chef (Mr Spiro? Grin).

DumSpiroSpero · 10/11/2011 21:28

I'd also love to work these awesome pop art tiles into the interior design somewhere if no-one objects.

Yiikes Maud, how traumatic for you, Have some Saving Sergeant Porter instead

LadyDamerel · 10/11/2011 21:31

LOVE the tiles, Spiro.

My personal feeling on the pool is that we should have one attached to each boudoir, perhaps a sort of ensuite spa set up? That pool looks perfectly sized for two and has so much more potential style than a mere bath.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 10/11/2011 21:32

Hey, groovy baby! Perhaps you could have those tiles in your ensuite wet room, Spiro, although there is an alternative design for the pool.

::Worries that Small will think that all these demands are cramping her creative mojo::

SupermassiveLBD · 10/11/2011 21:33

Food? Who needs food? Grin
stacks large collection of takeaway menus next to phone, like they do in Noo Yoik

LadyDamerel · 10/11/2011 21:34

Or how about a happy little soldier, Maud?

DumSpiroSpero · 10/11/2011 21:34

And on the subject of soldier's - I've just been sent this:

THE FINAL INSPECTION

The soldier stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

'Step forward now, you soldier,
How shall I deal with you ?
Have you always turned the other cheek ?
To My Church have you been true?'

The soldier squared his shoulders and said,
'No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Because those of us who carry guns,
Can't always be a saint.

I've had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was tough.
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.

But, I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep...
Though I worked a lot of overtime,
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God, forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place,
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around,
Except to calm their fears.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne,
Where the saints had often trod.
As the soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.

'Step forward now, you soldier,
You've borne your burdens well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell.'

Thank you, Massive, although that photo was very disconcerting as I couldn't decide whether it was out of focus or I needed a new lorgnette.

Private Ryan has (mercifully) been abandoned in favour of Isambard Kingdom Brunel. I do love Victorian entrepreneurs.

::swoons::

SupermassiveLBD · 10/11/2011 21:38

I do love Victorian names. Isambard Kingdom has so much more of a ring to it than Wayne or Darren.

LadyDamerel · 10/11/2011 21:40

Good old Brunel. I spent 10 years in Bristol so I'm quite fond of the dear chap.

DumSpiroSpero · 10/11/2011 21:41

Right Mr S home - off to attempt to catch up on the last series of 'Bones' before the next one starts next week!

LadyDamerel · 10/11/2011 21:41

Can you imagine the baby names thread on here though, Massive?

Isambard Kingdom for a boy. What do you think?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 10/11/2011 21:45

::Makes notes on MN Spreadsheet: SuperBoys probably not called Wayne and Darren::

I like Victorian names. My friend's son has a friend called Stanley, which I think is sehr sehr cool.

SupermassiveLBD · 10/11/2011 21:48

Bye for now, Spiro.

Nah, isn't that a girl's name, OP?

SupermassiveLBD · 10/11/2011 21:50

Of course they are Wayne and Darren, Maud, i just put them in to put you off by reverse psychology.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 10/11/2011 21:53

Aha! The old double-bluff. Curses, outwitted again!

::Doesn't take much emoticon::

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 10/11/2011 21:55

My hero

LadyDamerel · 10/11/2011 21:59

I like Stanley. I know a baby Agatha which, bizarrely, really suits her as it isn't a 'baby' name to me.

MistressD's bf is called Ottilie which I also love.

LadyDamerel · 10/11/2011 22:00

I'm not sure he wears the top hat with as much aplomb as MrT though. Maud.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 10/11/2011 22:05

Oh, I love the name Agatha but couldn't persuade The Bloke, who vetoed nearly all my suggestions. Anyway, on my first visit to the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge, I heard a woman say to her children "Finbarr, do hold Agatha's hand, there's a good boy". I have wanted to live in Cambridge ever since.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 10/11/2011 22:06

Nobody could, LadyD, nobody could.

SupermassiveLBD · 10/11/2011 22:09

He's got a good cravat thing going on though surely...

What do we think about Maria, pronounced Mar-eye-a?

LadyDamerel · 10/11/2011 22:14

Funnily enough, LordD vetoed all my suggestions too. Men! ::tut:: No taste, that's their problem.

Having said that, it's a good job I hadn't discovered Georgette Heyer before I had the MiniDs or they would probably be named Venetia, Jasper and Marcus Blush.

I miss Cambridge, I haven't been back for years. I must abandon the MiniDs with my DM next time I visit and have an indulgent day there by myself.
