En route to Grandma's! Hopefully will be able to pop in when I need some distRAction and some inreality checks!Grin

Twigs - I think you doth protest too much!Wink

LadyDamerel · 12/11/2011 10:47

Twigs, it was lush. ::reveals inner Bristolian:: My friend made it but it was white wine, white port, some honey, oranges and lemons spiked with cloves and a little bit of ginger.

(It was a bit lethal too, hence poor Massive getting a bit jumped on when I got in - sorry Massive Blush)

WRT girls and discos, I have a lovely friend who has an 11yo DD who is very tall and willowy with gorgeous long dark hair and enormous brown eyes. She's a very beautiful girl but I nearly cried when I saw her at the end of year disco wearing the tiniest hotpants, a skimpy vest top, high heeled boots and full sultry make up. She could easily have passed for 15/16 and she was still at primary school. I don't don my judgey pants very often but I did that day. Why would you want your 11yo to go out looking so much older than she is?

::climbs off high horse::

Vampy, will be thinking of you this weekend, hope you have a lovely time and make some good memories.

TransylvanianVampiress · 12/11/2011 11:03

Hhm. Definitely a drink to add to the Vamp cabinet that one Lady D! Not seen white port very often though?Hmm. Did make me laugh your amorous advances last night!!

Twigs forgot I say that I agree too. Girls grow up too quickly as it is without encouraging it! My little girl is only 7 but can already pass for a 11-12 year old due to height, looks etc. make up will be a no no for a long time yet although we do paint toe and finger nails occasionallyHmm

Poor girl lady D - although that is the kind of get up you see 12 years wearing all too often nowadaysSad. I would certainly ban persuade my DD away from it.

lush! How I loved living in Bristol! Miss it! but not the rain! Grin

LadyDamerel · 12/11/2011 11:39

I miss it too, Vampy. I love where we are now and would never leave but I do miss being close to a city. As for the rain, well, we've stayed on that side of the country and gone further north so we still get soaked on a regular basis!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 12/11/2011 12:53

::Totters in::

I love Bristol, too. The Girl and I went there on an Expedition during the school holidays and had lots of fun. This place was amazing - have you ex-Bristolians been?

DumSpiroSpero · 12/11/2011 13:16

My knowledge of Bristol is limited to bars, clubs and restaurants but I do enjoy a trip down there.

We have been to trial session of a new dance club this morning - Miss S wants to keep going at an eye-watering £7.50 a session!

Have said we'll give it a go until Christmas and see how she gets as on. She doesn't do swimming any more and could do with something more physical to add to the academic/bumsitting hobbies. Grin

LadyDamerel · 12/11/2011 14:21

Grin Grin Grin

MasterD1 has just asked me "If you could ask Richard Armitage one thing, what would it be?"

I thought of at least 5 answers, none of which were suitable for 7yo ears Blush Grin.

In the end I had to settle with "Who was your favourite character to play?" which thankfully satisfied him!

PassTheTwiglets · 12/11/2011 14:55

ROFL at the question, LadyD!! Yours was a very good answer, but your real answer could've been a good opportunity to teach him some French, no? :) Voulez-vous.... etc.

LadyDamerel · 12/11/2011 16:40

Grin. None of my answers were as cultured or refined as that, shockingly Wink.

LadyDamerel · 12/11/2011 16:42

Oh, his response to my actual answer was then "What, do you mean Guy or Harry or Lucas or or Mr Thornton or the artist one?"

PassTheTwiglets · 12/11/2011 17:13

Bless him, he is well versed :)

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 12/11/2011 17:41

Wow! The LittleDs have obviously been studying hard - The Girl is only aware of Guy and Mr Thornton.

::Enrols The Girl in the remedial class::

LadyDamerel · 12/11/2011 18:08

Ha! I think it's more from the desktop pics and the screensaver pics that he knows them. He did sit and watch some of The Impressionists when I was ironing last week and recognised the Man despite the dead ferret attached to his lip.

LadyDamerel · 12/11/2011 18:09

He does love the 'Shoulda been me' segment from VoD though....

TransylvanianVampiress · 12/11/2011 18:12

Fab Lady D. Made me laugh! Vamp-boy doesn't even know who he is but thinks he looks a bit like Daddy!!Grin

All ok here. MIL is ok but unable to do anything bar sit. Her stomach is very very swollen and has very small appetite. She can walk very slowly with a stick to her upright chair where she eats with a tray on her lap. She has enough pills to set up her own pharmacy and a medication timetable to go with them! And those special contraptions to make the loo seat higher. It's all her dignity going which is hard to see but we are remaining happy. The kids blundering round as usual helps a bit but I keep catching her looking so sad. PIL is holding it together looking after her. Thinks he's pleased of the support from us his weekend. He says on the while she's ok but cries from time to time as she's obviously sad at what's coming. Vamp-boy and I swept the leaves up from the garden this afternoon while the others were out shopping. Her garden was her pride and joy and favourite thing so I decided it was probably really depressing for her to be spend all day by the window looking out at her beautiful garden covered in leaves. They were both so grateful so I think that was a good idea!!

Anyway you don't need to know all this detail so understand if you glossing over - good for me to get it out!Smile

I was at university in bristol so bars and clubs is pretty much my overall memory of the place too!!Grin. Lady D you must be sort of on my side of the country then if it's still wet!!Grin

Right time to get the kids into pjs to watch a bit of strictly and get them to bed!

SupermassiveLBD · 12/11/2011 19:00

Oh Vampy, what a lovely thoughtful gesture of yours that was. It's the little things that mean the most. I hope you all have an all-right evening togther anyway. I am sure they have all been cheered and strengthend by your visit.

I would ROFL @ MasterD1's Armitage erudition, but i have a roomful. It's incredible what they pick up, isn't it? ATM I still seemed rigged for silent running. but like Heinz in his sub, one of these days things may well blow up in my face.

The mulled wine sounded delicious. And if that's the sort of effect it has on a normally quiet and decorous lady like LadyD, I must arrange some for Gizzy's next visit.(Who is rarely quiet and decorous) If he deigns, that is. I have been suffering from rather a large attack of RL recently, after all, and I may have put his nose out of joint. Sad

TransylvanianVampiress · 12/11/2011 19:34

Ooh Maud et Twiggy - how lovely was Harry tonight if a bit too fully clothed! Grin

Thanks Massive - you made my eyes sweat as a friend of DD s says!!Grin

Kids sweetly sharing a double bed - see how long it lasts! FIL out playing in his folk band at a barn dance and we all watching strictly.

PassTheTwiglets · 12/11/2011 19:39

That was lovely of you, Vampy. It was probably helpful for you to be doing something positive as well?

Massive, sorry RL has been getting in the way. I'm sure Gizzy will forgive you. Or punish you, if that's your preference :o

PassTheTwiglets · 12/11/2011 19:40

Indeed Vampy, Harry was beyond hot tonight.

TheSmallPrint · 12/11/2011 19:42

Can I just say Shock blimey Harry was hot stuff tonight!

TransylvanianVampiress · 12/11/2011 19:50

Well Smallio discussing strictly with PILs at lunchtime. MIL and I decided that even though he is no MB from last series he'll do. I then said that he was young enough to be my son to which my FIL responded doesn't mean you can't fancy him!ShockGrin

He is definitely becoming my latest secret crush! HJ not FIL!Hmm

TheSmallPrint · 12/11/2011 19:55

Agreed Vampy, he's not quite MB but he will certainly do! Isn't it The Man's favourite dance he did? I have to admit I was imagining him doing it.

Vamps sounds like you PILs enjoyed you being there and you're right about those little gestures really mean a lot. You deserve some Thanks

PassTheTwiglets · 12/11/2011 19:56

I couldn't choose between Matt and Ssssssscott last year...

Developing a leeeetle crush on James, as it happens...

LadyDamerel · 12/11/2011 20:03

Vampy, I'm very pleased your weekend is going as well as can be in the circumstances. Sending a few ((hugs)) to get you through tonight and tomorrow.

Which university were you at in Bristol? That's where I went but I was at UWE in Redland because I did teacher training. I think you're my sort of age so we may well have crossed paths in some of the drinking refined establishments in town. Odyssy, perhaps?
