DH drinks & drives - should I whistle blow?

... and if I do, can it be anonymous?

Don't know what to do, how much is too much?

DH can drink a large amount & not appear to be drunk. he then drives. I have told him he should take a taxi, he tells me he is OK to drive because he has had something to eat.

What are the limits? I, personally would not drive after having ANY alcohol - maybe I'm being a bit anal about the whole thing?

OP posts:

You might have a point but on the other hand the whistle blowing could take place quietly and discretely without anyone being the wiser

AnyPhantomFucker · 11/10/2011 23:33

hmc what about the women who post that their husband is attacking them on a regular basis ?

there is a crime being committed there

what about the women who report they have been raped?

ditto

the drug takers ?

the adulterers ?

the depressed and suicidal ?

what about all them ?

I asked OP to give one of us her DH's contact details and we will report it if she is not going to

there is nothing more to be done other than to urge her to do it herself

we are not judge and jury (although it seems like it sometimes..)

Funnys- you are talking out of your proverbial. For those who have not heard-FOOD DOES NOT LOWER THE ALCOHOL IN YOUR SYSTEM. He drinks at least a bottle between lunch and 7pm(probably more as this is what he says) then more at home and would probably drive in the evening if he had to.
Dangerous to assume but you probably drive over the limit as well judging by your posts that condone the behaviour.
Zero limit for alcohol and driving is needed. Not hard to skip a drink if you are driving.

Exactly. My psychotherapist said that the only thing she could not keep confidential was involvement with terrorism.

Nobody is saying that drink driving is not bad. If he's an alcoholic obviously there's a wider issue that needs to be addressed.

jade80 · 11/10/2011 23:36

hmc yes it could be but I still feel it would be crossing a line. Respect to your views though and I can see your point. Fortunately OP last commented to say she would be reporting. Fingers crossed!

To the other poster, I think we are discussing the levels of alcohol because the OP didn't really seem to know how much was actually being consumed and what the limits are. Hopefully she's clearer now.

hmc · 11/10/2011 23:36

Bizarre that some of you are still arguing that confidentiality trumps avoiding potential manslaughter - even that great british liberal philosopher John stuart mills said that liberty has it's limits if others could be harmed

LaurieFairyCake · 11/10/2011 23:37

We can't possibly have a zero limit as a lot of medication can contain alcohol.

As does sherry trifle.

Current limits are fine. I drive after a glass of wine and know I'm not over the limit or impaired. I've been more impaired while tired before.

Bossybritches22 · 11/10/2011 23:38

Abdabb come back, in future if you feel able, & tell us how you got on?

Look after yourself & the Dc's.

electra · 11/10/2011 23:38

What would happen of the OP was not genuine? I imagine it probably is but you can't report people to the police from this kind of information on an internet forum.

jade80 · 11/10/2011 23:38

Confidentiality is confidentiality. Not just when it suits you.

electra · 11/10/2011 23:39

Agree with Laurie that tiredness is worse - I was stopped because my reactions were slow. I was tired and had not had a drink.

AnyPhantomFucker · 11/10/2011 23:43

worse than what ? one glass of wine ?

LaurieFairyCake · 11/10/2011 23:45

Yes, in tests tiredness was worse than legal limits of alcohol.

jade80 · 11/10/2011 23:46

Yep, read it, still don't see where it says that a random internet forum can trace a poster and report to the police?

LaurieFairyCake · 11/10/2011 23:46

With regard to hazard perception, reaction times etc.

hmc · 11/10/2011 23:48

Look I realise you don't want to admit you were in the wrong so I won't press the matter

AnyPhantomFucker · 11/10/2011 23:51

ah right, legal levels of alcohol, with ya now

jade80 · 11/10/2011 23:51

Ha, in the wrong? What you linked to is irrelevant, it is about medical practitioners. I won't press the matter though, as you haven't managed to find a more relevant link!

electra · 11/10/2011 23:51

Doctors have a duty of care to their patients so the position is somewhat different than the people who run an internet forum.

jade80 · 11/10/2011 23:52

You seem to be a bit of a lone voice hmc, so I can understand you getting defensive. Grin

AnyPhantomFucker · 11/10/2011 23:54

pissing in the wind I call it Smile

SheCutOffTheirTails · 11/10/2011 23:55

Yes, you should report him.

And then divorce him.

He sounds like a cunt.

And he is definitely an alcoholic.

jade80 · 11/10/2011 23:56

Flowers to af and electra- if you weren't commenting I might be questioning my sanity by now!

jade80 · 11/10/2011 23:57

arrgghh I mean Thanks !!
